Second Chance Quilt: Leftovers Shoot For The Stars from Wedding Dress Blue

Friend Cheri shares her leftovers with me from time to time. It is always exciting to get a new bag of possibilities.

Sort and straighten and ask, “What do you want to be?”

Somehow, I was seeing stars. And that gave me a place to start.

I added a few fabric scraps from stash and adjusted as I went along. I don’t even know how I would write a pattern, or even a tutorial for something like this. It is an interesting process, though. A discovery every step of the way.

And the, Ta-dah! A quilt!

Finished size is ...

I may have done a bad thing! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Hmm -- where is my techie?

This is what happens when you are NOT a professional but think you are. I've been trying hard not to store data on the hard disks of my computers. I use several online storage places, and I have two external hard disks—well, actually, I have four, but I was only using two.

In an effort to clean things up—yes, when I'm supposed to be sewing—I decided to empty the old one. I knew it was finicky and needed to get the data off it.

I took it to the Geek ...

Cutting and planning............. from Exuberant Color

I cut a lot of 6" finished half square triangles yesterday.  I have had the pile of pink and blue fabrics sitting on a cutting table for more than 6 months.  The greens were leftovers from another quilt and were already pressed.

I cut 10 layers at a time with my Accuquilt Studio die cutter so the piles of 10 were layered with many different fabrics.  It took 1 1/2 hours to sort them while I watched TV last night.  All are Kaffe collective except for one Tula Pink.

Here is the variety of greens.  I have some more ...

Design Wall Monday - May 6, 2024 from Small Quilts and Doll Quilts

Good Morning Quilters!

Oh my, I have nothing to show you except a picture of where I am in sewing down the binding on a quilt……….just a little further along than last week.  But my week was full of happiness and joy.  Lots of visits with friends, celebrations of birthdays and other happy events.  God is good.

And I have good resolve to get this binding job finished this week.  Our screened porch is cleaned, and the wicker furniture is now out there, so I plan to spend some time there, binding away as I listen to the birds ...

Monday make - quilter’s tote 3 from Just Sew Sue

Today is the first Bank Holiday of three that we have during May in Jersey. We have an extra bank holiday to celebrate the liberation of the islands in 1945 on 9 May.

You'd think I'd be taking it easy today, but this morning we're taking my aunt back to her house for a visit and I hope she decides to put the house on the market. An empty house is an expense for her. This afternoon I have a meeting which I'm told will be quick, I have my doubts!

You might think that you ...

Free Motion Quilting – Magnolia from I Patch and Quilt

Some of the flowers that I sowed last month have already turning into plants that I can plant out in the garden this week. Some have not come up at all. I will have to redo them to see if it is a problem with the seeds, or if it was too wet and cold the last two months.I love to fill my garden with bright colors. my garden has the perfect size for me right now, but I do wish there was a bit of room for bigger plants, like a magnolia tree.

Magnolias flowers are something special ...

Weekend Wrap Up from Quarter-Inch Capers

I spent the weekend working on some projects I had been putting off. I bought a pattern to make a scissor case that holds three pairs of scissors, and I had cut out about eight of them, including the batting I’m using in the middle. I sewed and topstitched two of them.

They still need snaps and a button on the flap to hold it closed. I think they are super cute.

It takes about a fat quarter, plus the batting. I will definitely be making more.

I ended up spending Saturday at home. I had lots of chores ...

Noriko’s Star from Quilts....etc.

I got started with the segment I had finished the other day and figured out placement only to find I had two too many black in the final row and one too many white right above it so those needed to be taken out before I could.  After I got done it was back to […]

What I’m Working On… from Jo's Country Junction

I was busy this week and didn’t get a lot of sewing or stitching time in. I’ve been busy with old friends and making some new ones. All of that is way more important than crafting…all that to say, I didn’t accomplish much. I was really concentrated on bumping the Iowa Hawkeyes quilt up the …

Skipped A Day from Quilting My Way

Yesterday was one of those days, I didn't do anything but go to a movie. We didn't even walk, because of the weather.

The movie we saw was "Fall Guy." It was really good. Started out slow but picked it up. At first when they were narrating, I was a little worried it would be one of those movies, but it wasn't. It turned out better than I thought it would when it started. Worth seeing.

Today, was another rainy day. I worked on getting some things done around the house. First time in a long time ...

Molas from Elsie Quilts

Sorry (again!) for not posting.  Life is too busy. However, with much determination this one is done.

Our guild received four molas from an estate donation. No one knew what to do with them. Then a neighbor gave me three that she didn't know what to do with either.

After some thought, I put them into a big nine patch each with black borders and bright sashing. That part was easy.

The quilting was more of a challenge. Finally I used mola designs to invent a floral look strip to fill in most of the black, one with frogs ...

Sew & Tell ~ Pieces of My Life QAYG from Melva Loves Scraps

What a week!  There were several new stories/posts last week here at Melva Loves Scraps.  Block #6 of the Pieces of My Life was released as was the newsletter with the link to the memory book pages and additional stories and memories of my life not shared here... AND I hosted the Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday linky party.  Whew...

Last week I had asked you about the self-imposed "imaginary" deadlines... I found I was not alone.  I also decided that rather than push myself into a state of frenzy... I offered myself some grace and moved the ...

Week 17 of Nikki's Stocking from mequilter

I made some good progress this week.
I am jumping around a bit. I wanted to get that church started.
And believe me, when I say, I will be glad when it is finished.
Working with almost the same shade of floss as
the background is hard.
Once the church is finished I will start on the bottom hill!

I worked on a few of the plants in the cornucopia.

 A close-up of the church.

Be Happy!

April's Scrapbooking Pages from mequilter

I waited until the very end of the month to do my scrapbooking
pages for April because of my eye surgery.
Not because of my vision but because I can't bend over and since things fall on the floor or I have extra paper storage on the floor I didn't want to do it too early.
As it was I dropped letter dies on the floor. Luckily my magnetic wand picked them up. My poor knees bark at me whenever I squat to pick something up. The picking-up tool helps with picking up some things but not for ...
