After Pompeii 63, 64 from Virtual Quilter

It has been a long time since I opened this project file and was pleasantly surprised to see the design above.

The second design is much more mundane than the first!

Bringing Order to Chaos from Adventurous Quilter

Last year my hubby took a voluntary redundancy and retired 4 years earlier than planned. We had only been in Australia 8 months so I was still in in the midst of bringing order to chaos in my new sewing studio! So it's felt like lots of tasks were still on my to-do list for the last 8 months!
Civil War repro and traditional prints
We live a very busy, active retired life, so I'm not in the studio much anymore. Most of my quilt making is EPP whilst watching TV now. But this past weekend he went ...

I Like Thursday #233 from Knitting Quilter

It's I Like Thursday time! We post happy and uplifting content every Thursday. You can visit LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color to link up to more blogs taking part. Our Spring has been typical for New England. We have some warm days only to be followed by cold days. It's like the weather just can't make up their mind! We're finally getting some color blooming around our house.

I received this gift mug from an old pharmacist friend. When we started our careers, all prescriptions had auxiliary labels to remind patients on how to ...

Deep diving the stash............... from Exuberant Color

I pulled a stack off my shelves of Kaffe fabric and went through it piece by piece.  I found a few more pieces for my pink and green Tussie Mussie quilt.

I could go through some more stacks but I think I'm good now.

I showed my Kaffe Fassett stash last June when I brought it all up to the main level.  The empty crate at the right is filled now.  The shelf that I searched through is at the bottom of the black shelf unit on the right behind a small crate.  On the left on the bottom ...

Part Eight from Plum Quilts

Birds 64 - 72, which include three puffins, to show the days I spent on Alderney, hoping to see one in real life for the first time ever!

I'm pleased to say, that thanks to a boat trip with Alderney Wildlife Trust (thank you, Roland!), I was lucky enough to see several dozen puffins.  Mostly swimming in a raft in the sea off the island, but just a couple gave us a fly past, which was brilliant!

Now hoping to go to Skomer next year and see even more!

confession time from Quilt Nut Creations

I see a lot of custom quilts for longarming. And I haven't been keeping the greatest record of the pictures I take of quilts. As a result, I have SO MANY pictures of quilts that I have no idea of who quilted what.

So I'm going to be posting some of those quilts. And if one is yours or you recognize someone's work, please let me know so I can credit them.

Enjoy the show and tell!

Who doesn't love a good sampler quilt?

The colours in this are so calming.

Oh, the lilacs!!

I could smell them in the drive as we arrived home from the airport after midnight on Tuesday - which I guess was really Wednesday morning.

But it was dark - so I didn't really come face to face with them until I walked out the door to head over to the inn to make things ready for the Muddy Creek Misfits who would be arriving after 4pm.

Oh!!  The lilacs!  I didn't miss them after all!

Horsing Around from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It’s our last morning in Kentucky. We’ll be heading due west when we get underway, crossing back into Illinois (and into the central time zone), and then backtracking a little bit to a COE (Corps of Engineers) park for the night. From there, we'll move on to Missouri the next day. It’s going to be a lot of driving over the next couple of days. It’ll be a good test for my seat cushion. My hip is doing better. I thought I felt a little twinge yesterday while we were out ...

Piece and Quilt Sampler- month 2 from Moda Lissa

We are back again with month 2 of the Piece and and Quilt Sampler project.

Last month we made one block that consisted of 12- 3″ blocks surrounding a 6″ block. It was lots of little fiddly sewing so pat yourself on the back and get ready for month 2.

12- 3″ blocks for month one.
Shoreline by Camille Roskelley. Aren’t these fabrics yummy?!
Breakdown of what blocks to make each month

These blocks hold go together fairly quickly. Have fun with the layout and mix it up some if you want. I love squinting at the block below ...

Island Batik May Challenge and Blog Hop from Sew Preeti Quilts

Whoever said "Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road" wasn't making this pattern.

But let's start at the beginning.

For Island Batik's May Challenge and Blog Hop, we were required to use our assigned Winter 2024 collection, transforming fabric into a visual ode to joy and festivity.

I received Fire and Ice. This is an original collection designed by Claudia Pfeil.  It should be available in fabric stores now.

With my favorite pinks and oranges, this is a beautiful collection and I created about six paper-pieced designs in EQ8 ...

Planning ahead from My Sewing Room

Wednesday was a busy day with minimal time in my sewing room.  I used what time I had to do some prepping for more sewing.

Block #14 for the Riley Blake challenge was posted.  The parts and pieces are now cut, and I'm hoping to get this block made today when I get home from my dentist appointment.  I've kept up so far. There are just 3 blocks to go.

Possible fabric plans have been floating around my head for the Villa Rosa patterns that I won in their recent blog hop.  The Ebb Tide pattern uses fairly ...
