Google is everywhere from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So far, the day is going great, except that I put SKIM milk on my oatmeal instead of almond milk. I just grabbed the first carton in the fridge and didn't pay attention. No big deal, you say? OH YES -- it is a big deal. The almond milk tastes so much better. I know M is probably running around saying, "I told you so!". She was the one who suggested I drink almond milk, and I balked big time. Now - well, I will use other milk, but almond milk makes such a difference.

To support our local dairy farmers ...

Progress report from Studio B from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I'm back home, and there will be no pictures today. Why? My phone is FULL, and so I need to transfer the photos to my computer. YES - I know that I should be deleting some, but the darn phone won't even let me do that, so I could sneak in a photo or two this morning. NOPE - I have to transfer the entire lot. I'm embarrassed to say that there are over 9,000 items to transfer. I'm not sure how much space that takes, but it's a lot.

So one day soon, I ...

Virtual Quilt Challenge. Log Cabins. from Virtual Quilter

The challenge is to draw the four Log Cabin block variations shown above, and then colour them in with your choice of fabrics.

You will need a 9×9 grid, easiest to work with a 9 inch block. The first three can be drawn with Snap Points and Graph Paper set at 9, but the Curved Log Cabin, or Thick and Thin Log Cabin, is easier with Snap Points and Graph Paper set at 36, or even 72.

Next step is to choose fabrics, and start playing with the blocks in quilt designs.

Creativity starts with playing like a kid from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

 Happy Canada Day!!

I had the perfect shirt for today, but I've searched everywhere, and I can't find it!! It was orange (in support of our Indigenous peoples and it had CANADA on the front of it with a maple leaf. Now, what the heck could I have done with that shirt? Sigh................

I've had a project on my to-do list (NOT The Task Master who is wicked!) for a while. I need it to be done TODAY, as well as another project. Well, today is the day, and I'm making great progress on both. They ...

SMILE!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my gosh -- we had so much fun at the Facebook Live event last night. I hope you were able to join us. YES -- I know I need to smile ALL THE TIME. My face just looks awful if I don't smile, but you forget! Oh well - it is what it is!

Almost ready to start!

If you missed the presentation live, you can go back and watch it and see the fun stuff that happened while we did the Spectrum Quilt A Long.

I'm not sure why I was so busy in the past - now it seems ...

Urbanologie Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not even sure where to start with the show and tell. I seem to have problems remembering if I posted the homework or if I didn't. I checked the blog, and I see that April was the last time I posted homework for this group. Sigh..................

Well, that's the bad news. The good news - you get two months' worth today. It's a small group, so there's not a ton of photos.

These are the dreaded feathers! They were a lot of work, and I'm still working on mine. However, I LOVE this block ...

The Virtual Retreat from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK -- I promise that tomorrow, I'll get started on all the homework photos. I have things to share with you from the Virtual Retreat.

What fun we had! We got to meet Barb from Maryland!  Lots of familiar faces that stretched across the country and over to Germany. We discovered MANY things, including there's an imposter amongst us! That's all I'm going to say about it, except that we had a good laugh over it.

We talked about everything and anything, including the FitBit and what it tracks and do they do anything with the data ...

Just keep walking from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW -- I see that we are all experiencing quite different scenarios with the needles and fusible products. That requires a bit more research, to be sure.

And I see there are other people experiencing issues with Fitbit syncing. Thank goodness it's not just me. I can't afford to lose a single KM. My big challenge this year is to walk 4,200 KM in 365 days. I'm right on track, and you'll see more of that next week.

Not one to shirk from a fun event, three of us have signed up for The Big Canada ...

Virtual Quilt Canada - a BOOMING SUCCESS from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm like a dog with a bone about the windows. I happened to run into my neighbor while walking the dog and their patio door with the integrated blinds/shades? It's a Pella with the "bottom stack." That is what the blinds that open from the bottom up are called. Elle commented that they also have some Pella windows with the same mechanism, which is the same brand that I'm looking at.

I was back to the showroom yesterday, and GRRRRRRRR   - they no longer make the bottom stack windows. Why not??????  I've spoken to two different ...

Best dressed from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- Patti sent me the "story" behind the saying, "don't look a gift horse in the mouth" I love it. Here it is in her words if you don't know it.

In the olden days, when you were buying a horse from someone, you checked the condition of the horse’s teeth and gums – no teeth, not healthy, bad purchase.  However if someone was gifting you a horse, it was considered poor etiquette to check the healthiness of the horse (by looking him in the mouth) prior to accepting the “gift”.

AHA -- that makes perfect sense. Thanks, Patti ...

A rescue mission from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another super day! Hey -- we have to look at each and every day with open eyes. We can choose to be sad or upset with events going on or choose to be happy. I CHOOSE to be happy!

I have a new class this afternoon on Color Theory! YES --- I'm so excited about the class, and I've spent a bit of time ripping the house apart looking for certain items. Most of it was in one spot, so that was good. But I cannot find one particular quilt.

Searching for a quilt

I swear it's in the ...

On writing and sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a very long day, and well, the days have the same number of hours, but the number of things to do doesn't seem to get less. Now, why is that? I know people say that I'm doing too much, but I'm not on ANY committees; I'm not doing many magazine quilts these days, although I'm still designing and making them. It's just stuff in general. Trying to keep on top of it all, and that's never going to happen, so I'll just muddle along. Honestly - it's the small, seemingly ...

Signature quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I smell a skunk! I think someone got hit this morning. Thankfully both girls are in the house as I'm not sure either of them would be smart enough to run!

So there's good news and bad news today. The good news is this.

An empty design wall

Yep - that's where the Long Time Gone quilt was. And I'm happy to report that it's all in one piece! Yahoo!!!! I'm pretty excited. No, actually, it's kind of anti-climatic. I'm just relieved that it's together. I have one more thing to do ...

How would you quilt that? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I don't know that what I did to my Long Time Gone was worth the effort. It's been like a monkey on my back since I started. However, I'm happy that I've done it. And I bet that NO ONE will be able to see what I did. But that's OK. Here's the good news - Sections 1, 2, and 3 are back together. And Section 6 is now completely fixed. Section 5 is almost ready for the final sewing together. That one was easy since I hadn't sewn it completely together.

I should ...

It's all about the car from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK -- I think I've put more miles on my car this week than I have the entire year so far! I had things to pick up and drop off, and it just happened that it all came together this week. Holy -- it takes time to do those errands - I was away for FIVE hours yesterday, so I didn't get a whole lot done. However, I did FOUR errands in those five hours, and I've got some fun show and tell. But not today.

I need to catch up from two days ago. Let's say that I ...

Another milestone from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Do you know what today is? That would be April 30, which to most of you means the end of the month. To me, it was the date I figured our team of four would finish our cross Canada walk. Well, guess what? We finished a week ago! I just didn't have time to share it with you.

How did I come up with April 30 as a goal? After the first month, I predicted that we would collectively finish the 8,000 KM by the end of April if we kept up our pace.

While we technically did ...

Google is everywhere from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had such a great day yesterday! I felt like I could tackle the world, and while I didn't solve any global issues, I accomplished loads! Had some great conversations with the Long Time Gone class, and well - it was a great day! Let's see what happened.

Oh, first - I want to share some walking stuff. Here's the thing about the virtual challenges -- I'm learning TONS about the geography in the areas in which I walk. I'm currently walking the Appalachian Trail, which goes through the mountains along the eastern part of the United States ...

What's the password? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was supposed to be a carefree day. One presentation with the rest of the day free. Well, it didn't go so well.

I know that I need to be more relaxed about computers, but I was so frustrated that I was ready to toss my laptop in the pond!

You see, I have a program that wouldn't open last week. I clicked, and nothing. Well, I got an error message that it couldn't open. OK - so let's try to delete and reinstall. That didn't work - I got a different error message telling me that ...

Snail's Trails from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another great day! Although, I was so keyed up that I couldn't fall asleep last night! Grrr!!

I know you're all wondering if I got that quilt quilted. Don't forget that I was still piecing the darn thing in the morning. Let's see what else I have to share with you first.

Thank goodness for rain gear. I didn't think it was raining very hard when I left the house to walk the girls, but when I was finished, I was wet. My pants were wet, so it was a PJ pant day! Yeah!! I ...

Virtual Challenge Playing with Baby Blocks 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Who would not like to play with baby blocks which were as pretty as these?

This post combines sharing two more virtual quilt designs with a challenge.

I started this project file by starting a new quilt design, and then selecting Baby Blocks.

The first designs I did with rows of Baby Blocks, but then I started playing with the number of rows, numbers of blocks, and playing with every other thing I could find to change the setting. Then of course, I had to find some block designs to see what happened when I added them to the various ...
