Double Wedding Ring from Becca's Crazy Projects

Like many quilters I aspire to make wonderful quilts. Also, I like quilt rulers and templates. I picked up the double wedding ring and large melon templates to go with my copy of Double Wedding Ring Quilts book from Victoria Findlay Wolfe.
I pulled a stack of fabrics I think will work and started cutting.
I don't have a grand plan right now. This will be long-term project where I cut some pieces, sew some pieces, and look at the design wall to see how it is coming together. One of the exciting parts is that the little wedges ...

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm continuing to progress on my crochet hexagon blanket. I'm not planning much, just grabbing and attaching the next hexagon. I'm loving it so far.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

It was finally time I grabbed my bag full of crocheted hexagons and started stitching them together.
I don't have a plan for these. I'm just grabbing one from the bag and joining it to the others. That means I don't know how big this thing will get. I like creative surprises.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been working on these hexagons for a while. The stack just keeps growing. I finished weaving in the ends for this stack last night.
At some point they will become a blanket. I'm just not sure when. Soon, is my hope. Do you have any long term projects?

Those with a keen eye will note this was posted around 6pm and not the earlier time on the post. Because I wrote the post but failed to set the time correctly.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

When I saw the Blooming Star (Ravelry link) pattern  I just had to buy it and give it a try. This was my walk through following the video tutorial. I love how two yarns create this great brioche effect. I can't wait to try it with some ombre yarns. Have you tried any new techniques recently?

Frolic Mystery Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

Part 4: Quilting

It has been ages since I finished my version of Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt Frolic. This was the Quiltville Winter Mystery for the 2019/2020 season. I played with colors so I could use some fabrics I had on hand. I went with constant fabrics throughout and most of them read as solids. There are solids, but not as many as it seems upon first glance.
I added my embroidered label directly onto the backing fabric prior to quilting. I really like this as it makes sure that label stays with the quilt.
I chose the ...

Crochet Crazy - Friday Finish from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finished my Granny Poncho!
I can wear it with the points on the side.
Or with the points front and back. Overall, a great finish. The yarn worked out perfectly for this on. 300 grams of Knit Picks Stroll.

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I continue to make solid progress on my granny poncho. I try to take a photo every day or two. This is from after I finished the first ball of yarn.
Each new color is a joy to hook.
I'm almost to the end of the second ball of yarn. I'm not sure it will be all that big but I'm excited about it anyway. Have you started any new crochet projects this year?

Crochet Crazy from Becca's Crazy Projects

I dyed this Bare Stroll Fingering a few years ago. The basic idea is a gradient that runs through several colors, each color run becoming longer than the last. This should make the colors balanced in something like a shawl or poncho. I decided it was time to get started. I came across this Simple Poncho pattern on Ravelry and it inspired me to get stitching. I would tell you I used the pattern, but I didn't get to through the foundation chain before I changed something.
Still a simple design to start with if you want to use ...

Fan Sewing from Becca's Crazy Projects

A friend introduced me to Spencer Ogg Sewing Patterns. I found a free tutorial for this cute little bag. You can find the details, and a link to a video on how to construct your own, on Spencer Ogg Sewing Patterns. I lined my bag using a hack shared on the Spencer Ogg Facebook Sewing Group. It is a little more challenging to get the lining in there but it is totally doable. It is a great size for short trips. Enough room for a water bottle, your hand sanitizer, phone, and wallet.

Quilt Backing Fabric from Becca's Crazy Projects

Over the last year or so, I've been piecing quilts primarily from my collection of fabric. This is a great way to use what you have but I reached the point where the quilts couldn't become true quilts because I do not have a collection of backing fabrics. I stuffed these three quilt tops into my Spring Water Designs bag and headed out for backings. They always have a good selection of wide backing fabric.
First was this kit quilt I made using a kit from one of the big box stores. The blue in the foreground is ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

It seems the masks we've been wearing for almost a year are starting to show their age. I wanted some novelty prints so I convinced my husband to take me to the big-box fabric store to pick up some licensed prints. Maybe no one needs a mask with Pokémon or Avengers but I wanted some. I also pulled that cut cat print out of my collection.
These are going to be so much fun!
As usual, I have cut out way to many of these. Oh, well, they are still good to share with friends.

If you want to ...

Crochet Hexagons from Becca's Crazy Projects

I wanted to share the hexagon project progress. I've added more to my pile of finished hexies. These really are great as a carry-along project. They work rather quickly.
Here are the finished hexagons. I have many more to make before I join them together into a blanket. At least the weather is changing so I won't feel smothered under a partially constructed blanket.

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm still working on my crochet hexagons.
I've been reading. This was when I was finishing the Wheel of Time (affiliate link) series. I'm so excited about the Prime series that's coming out next month.
I went looking through my notebooks and found the delightful little sea creature hiding in the pages. Sometimes I'm surprised by my own creations.

Knitting Project from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm still knitting on this... well, I'm not entirely sure what it will be. In the end, I hope it will keep a human warm and have some great color.

Sometimes you just knit from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm not entirely sure how this one will turn out. I started with a narrow crescent. No pattern, just an idea and a need to knit. Nothing but knit stitches.
Then joined in the round. I'm using two cakes of sport weight from Freia Fine Handpaint Yarns. My hope is to end up with a small poncho. I think it more likely I will end up with a cowl. I'm going to soldier on in any case. I love watching ombre yarns change colors.

Am I Blue from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been working on this quilt for a long time. This past weekend I finally attached the binding.
I accordion fold my binding to keep it from getting twisted while I work with it. I know there are loads of tricks people use when winding their binding but this has always worked for me.
Many years ago I switched from attaching binding by machine and finishing by hand to machine-finished binding. You can check out my binding tips and tricks. I work with 2.5" binding. This results in a wider finished binding (3/8") that I would get ...
