I have a finish and a one monthly goal completion to celebrate. My circa 1880 quilt is finished. I used 225 swap blocks from my quilty friends to make the top and added a border fabric that was gifted to me from another quilty friend some time ago. I could not be more pleased. The photos are a little dark from an Indiana dreary winter day, but, the quilt is shiny to me. So much talent from other quilters are part of my quilt in each little block.

Flippy corners takes a lot of time... I started a new UFO project here. I really enjoy the colors, but, I am adding three more blocks to the quilt than the smallest size of the directions, and, I have to keep jumping back and forth on the number of pieces I need to sew. These are the very center of each "kristal".
I am tiring of this quilt, again. It has been in time out 2 other times for various reasons. I will make this my February one monthly goal, hoping that the goal will inspire me to stick to it. It began as a swap. The blocks were my one monthly goal for January 2019
I have the border sewn. But it is too tight, so I will need to unpick it, and remeasure, and resew. A tiny set back that has me scratching my head. What happened? I want to quilt and bind by the end of february.
A new year, and new possibilities.
The Hubs and I were busy from Thanksgiving through this week making decisions and purchases for the new house, and there are more of those coming up. Things have been moving at what seems to be light speed on the inside of the house. Three weeks ago (I think) the drywall went up. The brick was delivered two weeks ago; cabinets and trim were installed last week; and paint starts this week. This morning we selected indoor lighting and purchased our gas fireplace logs. Photos are up on the house page. It's been ... read more
Dotty bow ties is done. My first finish for the year is the first quiltville leader/ ender challenge from 2011 - 2012. This year, when the new leader/ender was announced, I decided, rather than start a new project/quilt, I would go back, and actually finish the ones I have already started. I have started each new challenge over the years, but have finished two.

read moreEvery morning, I make at least one hunters star block. I have also sewn the individual blocks into twosies. I am trying to make them random, but, I find myself picking through them for just the right way to use them. haha -I cut and made the single blocks last year as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.
It is time to turn my attention to finishing this ufo on my 5 quilts list. I have the rows I need for a queen size quilt I want to make.
I only have 2 more rows of dotty bow ties to add to the quilt. I am almost there. hooray
I did a little Christmas sewing, and, I have three rows together of dotty bow ties. I have a few more sashings made for adding more rows.
Dotty bow ties has been sewn into foursies. There are 8 in each row, so I am getting closer. I plan on adding sashings between rows.

When texting last weekend with two people who used to be my bosses, I learned that one of them was selling her home of 30+ years and downsizing to a much smaller home in a retirement neighborhood. I asked her if I could bring something for her new home when she moves in, and she said she has so much stuff to get rid of (think losing 2,000 square feet) that she didn't need another thing.
Yes, she does--she needs a quilt.
I had always intended to make her one. The other ex-boss got his quilt last ...
read moreThis quiltville mystery quilt has had it's share of mystery. I lost the blocks for Rhododendron mystery quilt after they were all made. Luckily, with a little sleuthing, they were found, and I decided to add this quilt to my 5 quilts goals. In November, the top was ready for borders, but, the corner pieces were missing. It was ready for quilting by Thanksgiving. I made this my December one monthly goal. If I wanted to make the new mystery - Chilhowie, I needed to finish this one.

Just a bit more progress.
I played with the placement of blocks around the center panel. Once I was happy, I left it all on the design wall to marinate.
A couple of weeks later I thought, “what if the center panel wasn ...
It has been soooo cold here this past weekend, and we are still recovering from covid. There was nothing to do but work on rhododendron mystery quilt from last year.
I made a few blossom time blocks as part of my rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I finished the center of rhododendron quiltville mystery.
I made zipper blocks. I put frolic quiltville mystery quilt on the longarm as part of my one monthly goal.
I have been ironing scraps from a gifted bag.
With just a little bit of fall weather, I took the chance to take a photo outside of Rhododendron mystery quilt, ready for borders. I really am uncomfortable cutting the edge off a quilt. So, I will have to work up the courage. Next, is a turquoise inner border and a pieced outer border. So glad to have this almost done, before the new mystery starts in November. The real mystery is, where did I put the turquoise fabric?

With light green as the color of the month for October and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, I thought it would be a great time to work ahead on the stems and leaves for blossom time. I cut the pieces
