A sweat shop from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had the most AMAZING wrap-up session for Long Time Gone. I was truly impressed by the work of everyone! Color choices were a challenge, piecing tons of small pieces, not getting out to buy fabric, and a whole lot more. But the group came through with flying colors. I'll be sharing their wonderful projects later this week. And so many of the group got their tops together.

I'm so grateful to all of them for signing up for that crazy journey. I don't think I would have made the quilt without them. It was truly a ...

Divide and Conquer from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I need to use The Task Master more often. I got a lot done yesterday. YES - in the back of my head, I know what needs to be done, but that doesn't always mean that I focus on that. I'm easily distracted!

Knowing that I have a list that I can check off and keeping it open on the ironing board makes me focus on what I should be doing, not what I want to do!

So there are 13 items on the list this week - that might be a bit ambitious, but some of them are not ...

Get a hair cut! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

From time to time (OK - every day), I check the stats on this blog. I'm not sure that I even understand how to read them, but I LOVE how the numbers change depending on the topic. The ketchup story? Lots of readers - so can you tell me who is searching the internet for ketchup? Appears that lots of people are.

I'm happy (OK - thrilled) to report that today is Friday! What does that mean? Well, it's Step One of reopening in our province, and that means non-essential stores are open (if they choose to be), and so ...

Quilt backings from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You know how you have a project that just seems to go on forever? This current magazine quilt appears to be that quilt. I'm happy to say that the top is completely together and is waiting on the long arm to be loaded later this morning.

There are many colored little squares in it, and I swear, the more I tried to keep the colors separate, the more they gathered together. I didn't change any of the squares around, and actually, something interesting appeared because of this. Sorry - I can't share it with you. I should take ...

Are you a ketchup lover? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Our household is a strange one. No - we haven't turned our AC on, nor will we likely turn it on this summer. I'm currently sitting here in shorts and my big flannel shirt. I'm not hot! And Murphy was curled up in her little dog bed. Our windows are open, and we love it like this! Perhaps we need to move to a different climate so we can enjoy this all year round! I'm still putting in my daily KM. Gosh -- I'm so not focused on the daily totals that I actually had to check ...

More fingers and toes from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was Monday sewing which is always a highlight of the week. We accomplish so much and solve all the world's problems.

It's also where we share good times and not-so-good times. Well, we had a great celebration yesterday as Helen Anne delivered the news that our province is starting Step 1 on Friday - three days ahead of schedule. That means a beer on the patio!!! Was I excited? Oh, that's not the word for it! I'm ecstatic!!!

The only question now will be how busy it is going to be? There are still people that ...

A rescue mission from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another super day! Hey -- we have to look at each and every day with open eyes. We can choose to be sad or upset with events going on or choose to be happy. I CHOOSE to be happy!

I have a new class this afternoon on Color Theory! YES --- I'm so excited about the class, and I've spent a bit of time ripping the house apart looking for certain items. Most of it was in one spot, so that was good. But I cannot find one particular quilt.

Searching for a quilt

I swear it's in the ...

Delete, delete, delete from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Things I've learned along the way.

1. There are apps on my phone that I can use to identify plants and other nature stuff. I did know that, and I have one on my phone; however, I never seem to use it. I should use it more. The app I have is called iNaturalist

2. The Wild Rhubarb is also known as burdock. Apparently, in the UK, burdock and dandelion are used to make a soft drink. Who knew!!!!  Hey -- we have dandelions, and we have burdock. How hard would it be to brew some up? You can buy ...

Open the flood gates from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's done! I completed the LAST of those Snail's Trail blocks during Monday Sewing! Yeah!! There was a total of fifty-three 2 ½" units to make. That was a LOT of cutting and a lot of fussing, especially since most of it was done as an ender and leader. It doesn't matter - they are done.

Five of them went on the bottom of the beach house block. This will make a cute little wall hanging. I have several small projects that need quilting. I'm leaving them on the sewing table so I can just GET THEM ...

I have sewing tools and I know how to use them from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my gosh -- you guys are the best!!! There are times when I think I live in a vacuum waiting to be rescued by you all!! I will NOT be buying a new rain jacket - I just need to find some waterproofing stuff. So that's on the list of things to track down. See how those errands accumulate!! I can barely keep above the water on the errands, but I did manage to get a few off the list yesterday. You know how it is - one errand leads to another and so on.

We have some house repairs that ...

A quilt road trip from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I went on a little shopping trip yesterday. I got to walk amongst bolts of fabric, look at kits, spools of thread, look at samples. It was quite a heady experience. I will NOT mention the name of the store - I don't want them getting into trouble. But I was in the store by myself. I did a little retail shopping, which I'll share with you either today or tomorrow - it depends on how much time I have this morning.

Initially, I went to do curbside pickup, which went a bit further than the curb. I'm OK ...

A mental health day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I know we've all had those days. You have the best intentions, and you're fired up to get lots done. Then POOF! You need a mental health day!

After I finished the writing assignment, I couldn't get myself motivated to do anything. I had to laugh, though, as I needed one last picture for the article, and I was going to take it outside. As I went to go outside, it had started to rain! So I had to wait!

I wonder if my motivation had to do with going for a car ride. It was something ...

A walk in the neighborhood from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was going to start the show and tell for Long Time Gone, but I have a couple of things to share with you. Then I'll start the show and tell tomorrow. There's too much to put in one day, so it'll span several days.

Have you been out walking in your neighborhood lately? I've noticed two things that are springing up everywhere. Can you guess what they are?

There are the FOR SALE or the SOLD signs. We've had a lot of that in our neighborhood.

And there's the giant bin thing.

Seriously ...

A teaching moment from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What kind of a student are you? Are you the one that sits in the back, takes notes (or not), and then never does anything with the material? Are you the one in the front that EVERYONE wants to shut up so they can get out of the class? ( I LOVE these students, and I'm one of them) You could also be the one who sits in the middle, says nothing, absorbs lots, and goes home to review the material and plays, but never asks questions!! And there's are loads of other types in between.

Well, there are ...

Humpty Dumpty cannot be put back together again from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH - it's a GOOD news day!! I'm thrilled to report that there are now only THREE pineapple blocks to complete. Yes -- I managed to get one done this morning. Now that I'm finished fiddling with the Long Time Gone quilt top, there's time to actually do other things! The remaining three blocks have all been started, so if I don't finish them at Monday sewing today - well - they need to be done!

One pineapple block - DONE

I might even get that last section together and into the quilt. Fingers crossed on that!!!

I got the ...

Breaking the rules from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm happy to report that the Long Time Gone is ALMOST done. All the little things I wanted to change are changed! All the sashing pieces that I need for the last section are cut and ready to sew in place. And Section 4 is together as much as it can be. The only thing left is those darn four pineapple blocks! That's going to have to wait until Monday sewing, which is tomorrow. And I see that more and more people are getting their tops together, minus the border as that is the class for next weekend ...

Now about that new car................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A day without frustrations is a good day indeed! So I didn't necessarily get as much work done as I needed to do - well as I wanted to do, but progress - it's all about progress!! OH -- I did have one SMALL issue when I couldn't find my presentation for yesterday's class. But it all worked out! It's good to be able to think fast on one's feet.

I'm happy to report that my Long Time Gone quilt is looking awesome. Sections 5 and 6 (the right-hand side) are now together. It's getting ...

How well do you listen? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As I was prepping the pictures for this morning, I wondered what title I should use for the blog post. I had just finished listening to Alex Anderson's "live" post from Wednesday morning. Oh boy -- people do NOT listen. She started a sew-along which I think is free to anyone. The pattern can be found on The Quilt Show webpage (top right-hand corner). It's only three pages, and there are kits - probably all gone by now. But any fabric would work.

So the first session was on cutting and prepping. How many people asked - can I do this ...

Milestones from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So I would never be able to run a marathon - running just isn't in my genes or in my head. But I could ride my bicycle all day and be happy. But when you're in the long haul for something, like having to ride 100 miles in a day, you need milestones to get you there. You start to pay attention to the mile markers on the roadside. You watch the mileage signs as you approach the next town, you play games in your head, and so on.

Sometimes, it can seem that the miles go on forever ...

All is calm...................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my god!!!!  I'm so excited! Can you believe that I'm feeling under control? The homework is mostly written and sent out. I forgot to include a couple of small things for one group, and it will get tidied up today. The sewing part of the homework is pretty much up-to-date. The writing is mostly up-to-date. I told you this would happen! You just need a little bit of faith! Through it all, I've kept up the walking and some of the gazebo time.

I did have one small SNAFU this morning. I was looking for one ...
