read moreEach week I finish a few more.
Some weeks are more productive than others. I never thought this would be a quick project.
Fiskars Self Healing Rotary Cutting Mat
BLACK+DECKER Classic Steam Iron
Grabbit Magnetic Pin Cushion
I chose a flower and leaf all-over design for the quilting.
I think it was a great choice for this quilt. This was the first time I used Hobbs 80/20 Cotton Blend Batting and I'm so glad I gave it a try. The texture is great! Good thing, too, since I bought the whole roll.
Trimmed and ready for binding.
Yesterday I stacked them up into planned flower sets.
Then I filled my hexie project bag with all those sets. Now I can easily grab a single flower and get stitching. Someday, I will have a quilt top.
Since I took a break from blogging during the Pandemic, I missed sharing some of my finishes with you, so I decided to have a little Baby Quilts Show and Tell.
In 2018 I started making a few baby quilts to put back for the great-grands, and only got two finished.
Last year ...

Several years ago I subscribed to the Moda Charm Pack Club. At the time, the Fat Quarter Shop would send six of the same 5" charm pack to you every month. It was great! It was also a way to fill up my collection with 5" charms. I gave up the subscription a while back but I still have loads of charm packs. Sometimes I even have some coordinating yardage.
The first step was to sort those ...
I was recently in a teleconference and grabbed my bag and got stitching.
I managed to finish four of them last week. Slow progress, but not ten years of slow progress.
Today I share the Love Bug block from the Heartfelt Charity QAL hosted by the Fat Quarter shop with Melissa from Happy Quilting. I am having so much fun making these ombre hearts and stars. read moreA “Disappearing 4-Patch” may look intricate and complicated, but it’s really very easy. If you can sew a simple 4-patch, you can sew this quilt.
There are many great how-to tutorials out there. I chose these two YouTube videos as my favorites—
Jenny at the Missouri Star Quilt Company and
Laura Ann Cioa at Sew Very Easy.
After watching both, I decided to “merge” their info together to make my own Disappearing 4-Patch. Here’s how…
Jenny (MSQC) has you use a charm pack in her version, while Laura (Sew Very Easy) has you cut larger squares from fat ...
read moreI started another baby quilt. I love when new babies are born because it gives me a chance to make another baby quilt. One of my nieces, I have several, had a baby in July. I plan to gift a baby quilt at Christmas. I’m using a pattern from a 2008 baby Quilts magazine by […]
read moreYou’ll see in my recent posts that I’m obsessed with learning how much mileage I can get with my Accuquilt GO!Cutter and the dies I already own.
I love the simplicity of the Sawtooth Star block and so I decided to see if I could design some pieced items with it using the dies I have.
Although I don’t own the 8” Go!Cube, I have almost all the shapes (see those in bold print on the list below). The only one shape I was missing was for the “flying geese” part of the star: the ...
read moreLast year you all shared a lot of love for my new buffalo check patterns, which included two bed quilts (Buffalo Check Winter and Buffalo Check Autumn) and the Buffalo Check Christmas Runner. I also heard from some of you that while you like table runners, you really prefer table toppers! Well, I aim to please, so I came up with a new pattern, my Buffalo Check Table Topper, which is really two patterns in one. Yes, this pattern will provide instructions to make either a Halloween or Christmas table topper for your home!
The Buffalo Check Table Topper finishes ...
read moreSpring is slowly arriving in Minnesota. It’s a joy to hear the robins tweeting in the evergreen outside my window. I am so excited for my grass to green, the perennials to peek out from the soil, and the trees to bud. But we quilters also know that in a month or two, several wonderful Christmas and winter fabric collections will be hitting the stores, and we have to be prepared! As crazy as it sounds, now is the time to plan any quilts you may want to have completed by next Christmas. I hope that my Star Crossed ...
