Hi! It would seem that hexies are back into my life. They are very meditative to prepare and to stitch together (i.e. relatively mindless but enjoyable for a short time). 

Happy Purple & Spots

July's colour for the 2022 Table Scraps challenge is purple and the theme is circles, spots and dots. Until last year I had very few fabrics with spots but because of a wonderful gift of scraps, I now have tons.

 There is no change in fabric count this week. I  started cutting yellow scraps for my ongoing rainbow scrap challenge.

Yesterday was sew day at the library for our guild. I enjoyed spending the day talking and sewing. I did come home with some scrappy pieces on the free table. And I won the drawing for a fat quarter. I tried to resist....

fabric ...

 This week I worked on the last of the scraps from the  scrap bucket I am trying to tame. These scraps weighed  6 ounces which is almost a yard of fabric. I cut some 3 1/2 inches, then 2 1/2, 2, 1 1/2 and the rest went into a chunks bucket. It has helped to keep me from buying more of anything. Next week will be a challenge. We will have our guild meeting and there might be a free table. what will I do?

This one is the hand sewing project that never ends and doesn't have a deadline.  I try not to compare myself with other EPPers (english paper piecers) who can get this particularly "involved"
quilt with over 17,250 hexagons in it done in months.  Some have done multiples. 

 The guidelines for the Island Batik December Challenge were simple

And here is my simple response. This cutesy little table runner finished at 12" by 52".

I used Island Batik Neutral Yolk for background (and binding) and various Island Batik fabrics to create the hexie flowers. Neither too big nor too small, I was going to name it Goldilocks but then...Paul suggested that it was "Too Hexie for My Table" and the name stuck.

A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Diptee Raut of Quilt Stories, asking if I'd consider contributing to India's first quilting magazine.  I was so slammed at that time that I told Diptee - Take a look at my blog and use whatever you like. Mixing up projects and techniques

Chevy came to us 5 years ago in June. I remember feeling that she had pushed her way into my heart within hours!

Last Christmas my daughter and I bought Chevy a new collar from Pooch & Tabby of Toronto. It was called Warrior Princess and it was perfect! Chevy was feisty, protective and full of love for her adoptive family and of food (not sure in which order!)

This quilt has now been on my design wall for several months. I felt like doing something different, so I thought that I would work on it. I had the fabric strips and extra pieces in a project box but no pattern...where did this project come from?

I can't believe  it - I totally forgot that I had a post and a link up due today. I did vaguely think about it this week and then my sleep deprived brain skipped right over it. Such is life these days!

 Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a really good week. For me, we are barreling towards the end of the semester, and it cannot come soon enough. I can't wait to delete Zoom. And now that I've said that, you know it's never going to happen, right?

P is for Paper

The piece is Momigami tree and was created based on a workshop with Cas Holmes through TextileArtist.org in August 2020. Momigami is Japanese for cloth made of kneaded paper.  We adapted the process by using long-fibred paper and kneading it with a little bit of oil until it become more supple ...

As April draws to an end, my scrappy light and bright blue blocks are finished. Yay!
