I'm delighted to be among the bloggers participating in the Hands2Help blog hop !

Avid, committed quiltmakers bestow quilts on their immediate and extended families. They happily make quilts for baby and wedding gifts, graduations and retirements and anniversaries.  They have wall hangings and placemats for every season. They may even sell a few pieces. But the inspiration keeps coming -- online, in print, at shops and shows, from fellow quilters.  What does a quiltmaker do?  Make quilts for strangers, of course.

Slowly but surely, at least on my end, things are moving along for this year's Challenge!  To date, we have 83 people signed up to participate, and I so love seeing both all the old friends on the list and the new ones we get to make as we go!! There's still plenty of time to sign up to participate, and don't worry - there's no horrible pressure or major commitment!  It's not the end of the world if you have to drop out along the way - so go ahead and sign up if ...

You guys – we are close, so very close to being done with the house in California. We sign papers for the close next week and have a final walk through with the new owners and then we are heading up to Washington. It is just amazing! This has been the focus of life for so long. We are so excited to be nearing completion and so ready to move into the new house!

I am guessing this isn’t news to all quilters who happily participate in Hands 2 Help each year but the event is being coordinated by Mari of Academic Quilter this year. Sarah has a lot going on right now and rather than having to skip a year of making quilts for deserving people and organizations, Mari has stepped in and is hosting the whole event! We are all grateful to Mari for taking this on but most especially grateful are the staff and families at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, California. To read the details about this year’s Hand ...

I love Mondays - and especially the Monday of the week before vacation!  It will be a super busy week as I get everything ready, but the anticipation makes it all worth it.  

But first, let's see what happened with last week's list....

We've made it!  Thirteen weeks ago, the Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge 2021 began, and since that time, an amazing effort has been going on to spread comfort across the world!  By the numbers, quilters from 45 U.S. states, four Canadian provinces, and one Australian territory participated.  Isn't that incredible?  And here's another number...

Friday has finally rolled around once again, and we all know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!  It's been a busy week around here, and my inbox has been flooded with beautiful quilts being shipped all over the country for Hands2Help!  So today I'm going to share the ones that have come in since Tuesday so we can all give those non-blogging participants a huge WHOOP WHOOP!  Let's get started!

Can you believe it? We've finally reached the end of this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge!  I'm so excited to see all the quilts that have been sent off to provide comfort to people all over the world - you are all so amazing to have been a part of this huge effort!!

Last Sunday was the second check-in date for this year's Hands2Help Challenge, and I have been receiving emails all week from non-bloggers who want to share their quilts or progress.  It has been a humbling experience to see all these wonderful quilters ...

May!  The lovely month of May has arrived, with beautiful springtime weather to enjoy and the end of this year's Hands2Help Challenge in sight.  Today we have another guest blogger joining us - Anja from Nova Scotia, who blogs at Anja Quilts!  Anja is always creating something beautiful, it seems, and she has a wonderful tutorial for us today.  So now I will turn the blog over to her!

With the Safelight Project underway (click on that link to see how you can help and prizes you might win), I wanted to make a few case sets from some pretty fabric. This is such a quick project, and uses up leftover fabrics as well as batting bits. I guess I am still in a blue and yellow mode, LOL! This blue print is lovely and paired nicely with a tone on tone yellow for accent. I did the two tissue covers in a jiffy, then started on the cases.

It was easy to do the cosmetic case and sunglasses ...

It's hard to believe, but this Sunday marks the halfway point of this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge!  I've already seen so many beautiful quilts heading their way to bring comfort and cheer - thank you all for your enthusiastic participation!
