Friday check in: GIVEAWAY WINNER! and design considerations from With Strings Attached

I thank everyone who took time to comment on Monday's Hands2Help blog hop post.  It was inspiring to read all the stories about the ways that quilters use their passion to enrich people's lives.

I used a random number generator to pick the giveaway winner:  KAWeed  (Though her post came as "anonymous" she included her email, per the giveaway qualifications.)

In the studio:  the pinwheels and square-in-squares are on the design wall.  The units are 4-1/2" unfinished.

The pattern (Gerri Robinson in McCall's Quilting) is a straight set.

I tried on-point.  I cut setting triangles and ...

Weekly update: Hands2Help blog hop and a giveaway (and the purple triangle finale) from With Strings Attached

I'm delighted to be among the bloggers participating in the Hands2Help blog hop !

Avid, committed quiltmakers bestow quilts on their immediate and extended families. They happily make quilts for baby and wedding gifts, graduations and retirements and anniversaries.  They have wall hangings and placemats for every season. They may even sell a few pieces. But the inspiration keeps coming -- online, in print, at shops and shows, from fellow quilters.  What does a quiltmaker do?  Make quilts for strangers, of course.

I've been donating quilts since early in my quilting career.  I just went back in the photo album ...

Hi, all!

There's still plenty of time to sign up to participate, and don't worry - there's no horrible pressure or major commitment!  It's not the end of the world if you have to drop out along the way - so go ahead and sign up if ...

Hands To Help, Quilty Hugs from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

For my12th Year of participation in the Hands To Help Challenge, I have made the String Bean Quilt (above), from a March 2022 Quilt Along by Pat Sloan. I used Crumb Block Centers and a variety of oranges and creams.  The backing (below) was made from 10" squares - my favorite method.

Emily, with Aunt Em's Quilts is once again collecting for Quilty Hugs, an organization that gives quilts to chemo patients through hospitals and infusion labs.

Special Thanks to Mari with The Academic Quilter, who has stepped in as hostess this year, for the creator of Hands To Quilt ...

Hands 2 Help 2022 & Mercyful Quilts from Needle and Foot

I am guessing this isn’t news to all quilters who happily participate in Hands 2 Help each year but the event is being coordinated by Mari of Academic Quilter this year. Sarah has a lot going on right now and rather than having to skip a year of making quilts for deserving people and organizations, Mari has stepped in and is hosting the whole event! We are all grateful to Mari for taking this on but most especially grateful are the staff and families at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, California. To read the details about this year’s Hand ...

Done!  I'll be delivering the quilt tomorrow, just in time for the little girl's treatments which begin Friday morning.  I'll share more pictures on Friday with a bit of the story...

Hands2Help - Recognizing our Hometown Heroes! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

The end of May is fast approaching, and with it the end of this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge!  But this week we are going to pause for a few minutes and recognize our Hometown Heroes!

My challenge to you was simple - find someone who has inspired you during this time of pandemic and let them know that they are seen, valued, and appreciated with the gift of a quilt.  Our guest blogger Carole provided us with another option as she presented a tutorial for these wonderful pillows...

...which would be a perfect gift to let someone ...

Charity Sewing and Quilting from From My Carolina Home

With the Safelight Project underway (click on that link to see how you can help and prizes you might win), I wanted to make a few case sets from some pretty fabric. This is such a quick project, and uses up leftover fabrics as well as batting bits. I guess I am still in a blue and yellow mode, LOL! This blue print is lovely and paired nicely with a tone on tone yellow for accent. I did the two tissue covers in a jiffy, then started on the cases.

It was easy to do the cosmetic case and sunglasses ...
