This week has gotten off to a rocky start. My Guy was really sick Sunday and Monday, thankfully the fever broke last night and he's feeling much better today. Even so, My Guy has to take a Covid 19 test this morning. Since his symptoms are such a close match for that virus, we can't go back to the office till he gets a negative result back. The company adopted that protocol to avoid community spread at work. That policy has been working, the company has had no instances of community spread at any of our offices or ...
read moreThe weekend was a bit of a mixed bag. We got to see the Scientist in Training on Friday, but then My Guy got to feeling bad on Saturday. So we spend a quiet day at home on Sunday. He's still not feeling great and has a fever. With the current guidelines at work, he has to see the doctor and I have to work from home till he's cleared.
It was a pretty good weekend in the sewing room. I finished my August One Monthly Goal.

I'm not ready for it to be Monday. This weekend just wasn't long enough. I did get to spend a lot of time in the sewing room and made good progress on a few projects. The first goal was to get the final borders sewn on Frolic.
That's done. So Frolic is now a finished quilt top.

I'm really happy with how it turned out. Now to get the backing made. I've got a thought on that, but need to check how much yardage there is. Stitching up a ...
read moreWe took a couple of staycation days last week. It was nice to hang with the Scientist in Training before she headed back to college, but it was also nice to get some dedicated time in the sewing room. That helped make pretty quick work of last week's To Do List.

It's been a nice weekend. On the warmer end of the spectrum, but the sewing room was cool. The Scientist in Training heads back to college today. School doesn't start till next Monday, but she's got some things to do before classes kick off. She kept me company in the sewing room Sunday as I finished off the set of masks she requested.

read moreAugust got off to a mild start, it was cool enough yesterday to eat our lunch in the park. That's a nice break from eating in my office. Though that may be on the agenda today as both of our calendars are packed with meetings. My office to do list won't see much action, but thankfully the sewing to do list is in good shape.
It's been challenging getting back into some type of schedule since our stay at home days. I'm slowly getting back on track with my stitching time in the evenings and making progress on getting into some type of fitness program. The weekly To Do List linky party over at Home Sewn By Us is helping me stay focused on my stitchy goals. Maybe a Weekly Fitness To Do would help on the fitness front or a 15 Minutes to Sweat weekly linky? Hmm, maybe not. For now, I'll just stick with reviewing last week's stitchy To ...
read moreIt's been warm, but thankfully the humidity isn't as bad as it was. Still you really don't want to be outside much unless it's early or the sun has gone down. You'd think getting in more stitching time would be easier, but the heat just seems to sap the energy right out of me. Of course it would help if we'd get home a bit earlier. We both were playing catch up at work this last week after our staycation the week before. In spite of the lack of energy and time, there was ...
read moreIt was a busier weekend than I expected, so not as much sewing time as I had anticipated. We had a 50th birthday party to attend on Sunday. It was a very small gathering with everyone wearing masks when we weren't eating. I made the birthday girl a couple of masks (her son appropriated the Oklahoma State U mask I made her, so I made her a new one). I didn't get them finished till right before we had to leave so no photos.
Hard to believe that we've already passed the middle of July and it's just a couple more weeks till the brutal heat of August will be blasting us. Not that July's heat has been fun, the humidity has made it like breathing molasses when outside. It's definitely been a month for staying indoors and hanging out in the sewing room. That's been good for making progress on my 2020 PHD.

Last week seemed to speed by, our staycation went by in a blur. The first day back at work was long and hectic. I was ready to spend some time playing with fabric last night and deciding on what should go on this week's to do list. More on that in a few lines, fist I'd like to celebrate the progress on last week's to do list.
The staycation has come to an end, it's back to work today. It's been a nice few days off. I didn't get as much time in the sewing room as I'd hoped, but I did get in one nothing but sewing day during our break. Sad to say I'm already ready for another one.

I've been enjoying a staycation with My Guy. I did have to work a bit yesterday and will need to put in a couple of hours today, but that should be it for the week. Though I will need to check email here and there. We were off visiting the Scientist in Training over the weekend, but I did get in a really good afternoon of stitching time yesterday. Good enough finish checking off all the items on last week's To Do List.
I finished the last of my midyear reviews with my direct reports at work yesterday. The purpose of the midyear review is to make sure you are on track with your goals. If you are not on track, it helps to identify the obstacles or changes in priorities and adjust accordingly. Also it's a good opportunity to celebrate your successes. It's just natural for me to apply what we do at work to the quilty part of my life. Back in December I set my 2020 Quilting Ambitions as part of Quilting Jetgirl's 2020 Planning Party. Here ...
read moreIt's amazing what difference a week can make. Things have settled down at work with personnel questions having been answered, while the number of Covid 19 cases continues to increase in the state. Work has tightened up restrictions on face to face meetings and beefed up the facial covering policy. Not an ideal environment, but at least I feel reasonably safe at work. It's going any place else that is concerning. Mask wearing in our community isn't practiced much. I think part of the problem is while cases are indeed rising, the total number impacted in our ...
read moreA check of the calendar shows that this week's to do list will take me to the end of June. The year's just about half over, so I definitely need to get moving if I'm going to make some of my 2020 goals. Checking off a few more things from my to do lists would definitely be a move in the right direction. Unfortunately, last week's to do list is a bit anemic when it comes to check marks.
It's mid-month, so time to stop and reflect on the overall progress in the sewing room for the month. I'm following along with Quilting Gail's PHD program for 2020.
Last week wasn't a good one for stitching. I'm trying to do better this week. In spite of the sparse stitching time, there was some progress on last week's To Do List.
I have finished 2 ufos so far for June and I have finished 10 for the year. The goal for ufos and the phd 2020 was 12. However, not all the ufos I have finished, were on my original list. I'm not sure how that counts. But, it has motivated me for sure. Countryside cottage is here. And silent night is here.
Last week wasn't the greatest. Getting home late from work, sinus headaches, housework and much needed yard work took a big bite out of my stitching time last week. The morning of yard work required allergy medicine and a 2 hour nap to fully recover from the pollen and the heat. Even getting going at 7:30 AM it was so hot that by 10 AM I really had to quit.
