April Studio Organizing from Prairie Moon Quilts

Doing one task every two months is a far cry from doing two every month — I’ve gotten way off track!

But it’s high time we tackled another one, so here we are today . . .

I gave us two choices last time, and I’ve been working on both of those pretty steadily. I think I now have my bookcase cleaned out enough that all the books and magazines I’m keeping will all fit in there  — possibly with a bit of room to spare! (Because as I finish moving, I’ll probably find several random ones stashed in other ...

In case this challenge is new to you, Pantone chooses a color of the year ever year, this year it is Peach Fuzz. Not really a favorite color of mine, but when you combine it with shades of teal and aqua anything ...

Work in Progress Wednesday from South Jersey Quilter

It's Wednesday again! The wheel of life keeps turning!

I got a lot  done this week, it's almost time to move the q snap again!

It's the 4th Wednesday, which means lunch with the teachers. A couple of retired teachers that I used to work with, one's wife, and Ralph. We look forward to seeing them every month.

It's overcast, so maybe more April showers later today.

Eddyville, Kentucky from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends it's a misty morning here in Eddyville. It's been a while since we saw fog like this. This is what I see through the window as I write.

Backing up to East St. Louis, this was what we saw on our last evening there. The kitties were all about this. There were two rabbits, but one ran away too fast for me to capture him in my picture.

We spent our last morning resting up for the drive...just over 200 miles yesterday. Smitty likes this quilt.

Sadie was gathering the morning rays in ...

Here are a couple of pictures to catch up on. That Murphy!! She knows exactly where to lay down so I won't miss her. I was about to go on a Zoom call the other day, and my computer stand was on that table in ...

{I've Been Reading} Murder in Rose Hill from Michelle's Romantic Tangle

A Flicker of a Doubt by Daryl Woods

This was probably my least favorite book in the series ao far. More is revealed about Fiona the fairy and her life beyond Courtney's garden and Carmel-by-the-Sea, which I enjoyed.  Fiona is as spunky as ever, but she's maturing a bit and learning some self control There's a whole lot going on with the murder investigation but I never quite got caught up in the plot, unlike the second book which managed to hold my interest with pickleball, of all things.

On the Cross Stitching Front from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

If you thought I would have Faith, Hope, Peace and Love finished by the end of last week (or whenever I said I wanted to have it finished), it didn’t happen. I’m am hoping to have it finished by Sunday. Surely I can do that. This time of year, rain is my friend. The garden...

Charming Maison de Garance from Becca's Crazy Projects

While writing this post I realized I didn't share the name of this fabric line. This is Maison de Garance by French General for Moda.
According to that label, this fabric has been in my collection since 2010.
In May 2023, I cut the charms into 2.5" strips and used them as leaders & enders. If you're curious about this technique for making a quilt on the side (like a quilter's side hustle) while working on other projects, I highly recommend Quiltville. In the free patterns section you will find almost a dozen different leader & ender projects ...

Wednesday progress from My Sewing Room

Not much sewing room time yesterday, but it was a pretty good day anyway.  In the morning I spent some time organizing in my sewing room. Then after lunch I picked up a friend and we went to Sioux Falls.  I dropped off my sewing machine for it’s cleaning and tune up, then we did a little shopping.  Hobby Lobby is always a fun stop for me, and it didn’t disappoint.  My impulse buy was a wind chime for my front porch, and a couple of birthday gifts for upcoming birthdays.

This just might be a coincidence, or ...

Second Chance Quilt: Have A (Few) Hearts? That’s A Great Start! from Wedding Dress Blue

You know by now how these things get started: someone gives me something. In this case, as part of a larger bundle of possibilities, there were three matching 6-1/2″ applique hearts. Much too cute to trash. I did consider pot holders, or a table runner, or a banner. But what they wanted to be was a baby quilt.

I had a little bundle of fat eights that “happened” to match perfectly. I love it when that happens. All that was needed was some background fabric and something to make centers for 6-1/2″ star blocks. I really wanted to ...

Charley in the forest trimmed........... from Exuberant Color

Yesterday I trimmed my Charley in the Forest quilt.  Then it was time to search for a binding.  I thought I wanted red but most of the reds were more of a pink tone and most of the fabrics on the front are a red/orange.

After auditioning several Kaffe collective fabrics, this one seems the best.  It is also used on the front of the quilt.  In the photo above it is the background of the tree at the left.  I will look again today to see if I can find anything else that works.

This simulates how it ...

Quilty Quarters from Angie Quilts

A couple of years ago I made a Scandinavian Tomte Quilt. I wrote a blog post about it, My first Tomte Quilt if you click the link, it should get you to the blog-post about it. Ever since I gifted the quilt I had wanted to make another, for my very own self! I do that you know, ha!

This is it. It is no longer crispy white though! there are 2 lively kiddos in that house, why ever would it still be white!! I had used the left over triangles from making the trees to make the fabulous border ...

A Little Quilting from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday was all about being outside.  I planted 10 small very healthy tomato plants and two pepper plants – one sweet red and one orange.  It is always surprising how fast these will grow – within 6 weeks or so they might be to the top of the cages. Honeysuckle growing and smells so pretty […]

The Tattoo Quilt, block 2 -- from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

The Hope block…as in I hope I have the wherewithal to continue this project…

DISCLAIMER: When I started writing this post, it was about 6 weeks ago. Life (actually, death) intervened and I talk a little bit about it in this post, so here’s your trigger warning. All references to days are from that time because I didn’t feel like guessing at when they were. Enjoy.

My goodness. Talk about labor intensive—two sections have a triangle about half the size of a pea. And Sunday, I saw where someone on Reddit had pieced the quilt and ...

Sadly news in the Kramer family…Early last week my son Buck was getting out of the shower, slipped, fell, and broke two ribs. UGH. Nothing takes a strong man down like broken ribs. I saw it in my Dad. I saw it in my husband…and full circle, now I’m seeing it in my son. Broken …
