When I first started quilting, I thought art quilting was beyond my reach. Through the years though I've taught myself how to make them. Now, with the Homeward Bound Block of the Month quilt, I'm revisiting my roots. When I decided to take on this project I gave myself some basic rules (yes, I'm a rules chick):

Dotty bow ties is done. My first finish for the year is the first quiltville leader/ ender challenge from 2011 - 2012. This year, when the new leader/ender was announced, I decided, rather than start a new project/quilt, I would go back, and actually finish the ones I have already started. I have started each new challenge over the years, but have finished two.

read moreEvery January I start a new blue and white quilt. Well, maybe not every January, but it seems that way. It must be the gray days, cold temperatures, snow, and ice that influence my January palette. As I was sewing Reflection, this year’s blue and white quilt, I remembered one I started a few years ago. That one is Plain Sailing by Janet Clare and unfortunately, it is still a WIP.
I still love this quilt. There’s just something about a million half-square triangles in a quilt that makes me swoon! The pattern is hard to find now ...

My boho heart quilt is finished in time for my one monthly goal for December 2022. I really like it, and I am glad to mark this off the list. Hidden in this quilt are a few vintage blocks, my orphan blocks that remind me of quilts past, and scraps from other quilters I admire.

I did a little Christmas sewing, and, I have three rows together of dotty bow ties. I have a few more sashings made for adding more rows.
Dotty bow ties has been sewn into foursies. There are 8 in each row, so I am getting closer. I plan on adding sashings between rows.

I have been working on an old ufo, leader and ender challenge. It has every color in it. I started making little bow tie blocks for the 2012 quiltville leader/ender challenge. It has been on vacation a long time. All the blocks of 4 have been made, and I sashed each one on the side.
I have made great progress on boho heart. Another day at the library, and, I was able to assemble the right section of the heart. I have had the left section together for some time.
I began assembling group 4 of boho heart blocks and was able to make the section. I had the room to lay it out at the library during an open sew.
I saw this ghostie online and liked him. I haven't "crafted" in a while, but, bought the pattern. It was fun. The hardest part was finding all the tools and paints ...

Group 3 is finished of the boho heart quilt. It doesn't look much different than the last post. I did get the whole group together in one section. I am ready for group 4. I want to make finishing boho heart my December one monthly goal. I think it is doable. I have had a cortizone shot in my thumb, and, was fitted for a splint. It is awkward but feels much better. I feel like sewing again, with some adaptions.
My quilt guild had an open sew at the library Saturday. I took all my boho heart stuff, hoping to sort, and, organize, yet, again. I want to get this done. I feel like I am close, and, it is a real possibility. If, I stick to it, I can see it done in the next 2 weeks. I made these blocks and joined as much as possible together. These are from group 3.

One of my 5 quilts ufos is this little bunny quilt I started a few years ago. I opened the box, recently, and, discovered fabric and bunny blocks. At my Friday group, I used a jelly roll to make the solid sashing and a matching fat quarter bundle to make the squares sashing. I have the perfect border fabric for it in my stash. I wanted this for a baby quilt.
I'm seeing dots. These are almost addictive...if there weren't so many. I like the secondary pattern, but, still think I will add another sashing when I join blocks. I make a few of these almost every morning. This was my choice for Bonnie Hunter's first leader/ender challenge. All I did was make the little bow tie blocks. Now, it is time to make a quilt top.
