wiggle finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish for the rainbow scrap challenge this week. I found the pattern in a magazine, and it was called rainbow baby, but, I recognized the name of the designer of one of my favorite bloggers, Cynthia Brunz. She has the pattern called wiggle time, and can be found here at quilting is more fun than housework. I really like it in rainbow colors. This was my first machine only binding. I could use more practice, but it will be fine for a baby. This is my 9th finish for the year.

I started it here and here ...

wiggle time from Making A Lather

I have not really had much quilting time. I am preparing for a lumbar fusion surgery, and trying to spend time with my Grandchildren. I am not sure how long I will have to spend recovering, so there are some things I want to be sure get finished. I haven't done any pink sewing at all for the rainbow scrap challenge. I haven't even peeked into the pink scrap bin. I thought blue was going to be June and July, but I reread the post and see where I might have been confused.

I have put wiggle time ...

the end of the rainbow from Making A Lather

This is officially the last Saturday in May and for orange at the rainbow scrap challenge. I am not really finished with the color yet. I haven't even started orange words for my quilt. But I did get the "made" fabric ready for the end of the rainbow quilt. Each month I make 6 blocks. I only have one more color and then all the pieces will be ready to assemble.

There are some rows that I had enough finished blocks to partially assemble them.

I made 32- 4 patches for an irish chain quilt I am hoping to ...

aqua color? from Making A Lather

Aqua is the color for the month of April at the rainbow scrap challenge. I am not sure I know what aqua is. I am easily confused by turquoise, teal and aqua. my first inclination is that aqua is a lighter color than the other two. I found this online.

And I dug through the strip bins.

I guess for my projects it doesn't really matter, I can pick what ever color I want to use.
So, I have another crayon made.

And another wiggle row. But, that is as far as I got this week.

more rainbow from Making A Lather

Green is the color of the month at so scrappy and the rainbow scrap challenge. This week, I have been working a little on my rainbow projects. I think I have the most scraps in the color green, with the most diversity. I'm not sure all greens work well together. do you?

I am enjoying the end of the rainbow quilt. Each color is different and the fact that each "made" fabric is different makes it interesting.
After the fabric is "made" it is very simple to assemble the block. It's a great scrap buster. More on this ...

time for green from Making A Lather

Look who has joined our family. Our new healthy Grandson, Everett Michael. He is a beautiful little guy. Grandpa approved. He has all his fingers and toes and a cute little nose.

Green is the color of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge. I worked on wiggle time blocks in green. I really like making this quilt. It is easy to understand and moves fast with chain piecing. The pattern is available here and other versions are here.

I also made the green flying home blocks this week. But most important was holding a baby.

yellow sunshine from Making A Lather

I'm anxious to get started with the yellow for the rainbow scrap challenge for the month of February. I have the yellow row for wiggle time. It is such a cute quilt.

and the crayon pieced in yellow

I am going through the drawer of bigger hunks and chunks, and, either sorting them and refolding them. or cutting them into useable sizes. I needed 4 1/2 in strips for 2 of the rainbow quilts and 2 1/2 in strips for some of the quilts. Anything really little, I am cutting 2 1/2 in tumbler blocks or ...

baby rainbow from Making A Lather

I am already in love with this pattern. It is called wiggle time by Cynthia Brunz of Quilting is more fun than housework ( gotta love that name) I am making a rainbow version to follow along with the rainbow scrap challenge. It was easy to cut.

The units were easy.

And the assembly was easy with nothing to match.

And it looks great. I can already imagine it in different colors. But, for now, I will be patient and enjoy it one color at a time rainbow style.
