Are you up for a challenge? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

While making significant progress, I have yet to complete a single thing. So today, I must focus!

However, all my samples for my article are DONE, and now I can write. The samples turned out AMAZING! I can't wait to share those. But I swear that people just want everything to be easy and do NOT want to take the time to experiment. Sample making is way more fun than actually making a quilt, and I've learned so much over the years because of my willingness to experiment. The way I see it is -  KUDOS to me because ...

Out and About from Romany Quilting

We've been away on a caravan trip for the last week or so.  Our destination was Cambridge, and we had a nice leisurely time getting there.  The first stop was the Gumtree Motorhome Park at Taihape.     Checking out the sign, I wondered what the overseas visitors would think, there are no koalas in New Zealand.  Although there were plenty of gum trees in the park.

Gemma travels quite well in the car, but I suspect she just puts up with it.  But once we get to our destination, she bounds into the caravan, jumps up on the bed, and ...

Back in the saddle! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The weekend is over, and four lazy days of sewing are on the agenda for this week - I can hardly wait to get started! But it'll be a late start as I have my knee ultrasound at 1:30 PM. And that's OK -- it's a perfect excuse to be late for a sewing retreat! How long will it take to see someone to discuss the results?

After the two Zooms yesterday, it was time for the Virtual Retreat, and I hadn't sewn for so long that I honestly didn't know where to start.

But I ...

Mother's Day and Beyond... from From the Strawberry Patch...

This will give you an idea of how I spent my Mother's Day! There won't be any meals in the dining room for a while. "Why"? You might ask. We're tearing out the old cherry kitchen cabinets and replacing them with hard maple ones, handcrafted by Mr. G in the basement workshop. We've gone from what it looked like in the top photo to the bottom view in a weeks' time......with a whole lot of this in

Quilting a hand-embroidered quilt from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- I just remembered that I need to take pictures of the pouches. Tomorrow -- I promise!

Well, the clock is ticking on my Virtual Challenge -- I've less than 100 KM to finish it off, and of course, there is an issue with syncing the data, so I have to make a manual adjustment later today. I will make my goal! And even if I'm one day late, it's no big deal, but still -- it's the principal of the matter!

Another great Zoom on the mySewnet software. It's quite silly, actually, because there's so much ...

Recently from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

Yes, all is well and I don't really have an excuse for my lack of posting other than I must have lost my blogging mojo. There are some things taking place behind the scenes that have required our attention and I think that has contributed to my scattered mindset. I'll share more about that when there is more to share.

More Design Drawing from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday was a beautiful day.  I did spend sometime inside but in the afternoon got out for a walk.  The turtles were out. Melanie and her dog – the trees are leafing out and the sun was shining – we saw no snakes and no alligators! Don’t mind seeing the alligators if they are out […]

How tidy is too tidy? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Leaps and bounds of progress are being made. Well, not exactly, but I'm closer to getting everything done. I have a couple of hours of editing, and one of the critical deadlines will be done! I worked on the second critical deadline project and might get more done today. Then it'll get set aside until next weekend when it becomes my only priority!

The Zoom calls went off without a hitch yesterday. And the two presentations for this morning are ready to go! Being organized and having a system works amazingly to making this all happen.

The one ...

When it Rains from Quilts....etc.

When it rains here we really get rain it seems – yesterday it started some time in the early morning I heard it when I was still in bed – then it quit then it came back and off and on all day – ended with 3.5 inches of rain and flooded the yard of […]

The Dirt Blizzard Aftermath from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

On Monday's post, I mentioned the 60 mph sustained winds (70-80 mph gusts) we experienced on Sunday and posted this photo.I have lots of similar photos through the yearsAnd no, I didn't edit the photos or convert them to sepia. Those are straight from the camera. Many places have wind and it certainly makes our daily lives as ranchers challenging, but it's the blowing dirt that really  makes it

Record Setting from Quilts....etc.

I think it is record setting I don’t remember any February 28th in Arkansas where I live being 78 degrees for the day!! I didn’t get a photo at 78 but I did at 77 –  crazy!  I went grocery shopping with a long sleeve t-shirt as it was 67 when I left the house […]

Basket Blocks, Over the River and Cyclone Freddy from Grandma's Red Needle

Thank you everyone for your input on the basket blocks (previous post)! It really helps getting others opinion.
I've been pondering what to do and in the end I decided to rip off the outer rectangles and replace them with Moda Marbles / neutrals.

This is how they looked like...

.... and how they look now. IMO, the rectangles were too busy. Now they actually look like baskets, don't they?! :)

A few more. The colors on the right one looks a bit washed out, brighter in real.

This is my favorite so far. The colors are blue/greyish, really beautiful ...

Some Handwork from Quilts....etc.

Sunday was such a nice day that I didn’t get done with as much stitching in the daytime as I had planned.  I met Melanie at some trails and we walked the dog and got in some walking.  It got up to 60 degrees while we were there!  It was a long sleeve t-shirt under […]

Piecing–Another Cold Day from Quilts....etc.

Well at least yesterday we didn’t have more ice!  The sun came out now and then for very short periods of time and some of the ice was melting here and there.  The sleet on Tuesday really helped save us from the worst of it I think.  It was crunchy out there and I was […]

Pasta and Piecing from Quilts....etc.

With another inside day it is amazing at how few pieces got pieced at the machine.  I guess I was moving slow – a little progress on the Snails Trail – I don’t know if the name will stay that or if I will change it but for now.  I did get a few pieces […]

Next Step from Quilts....etc.

Now that Arkansas Traveler is done I’m moving on to Noriko’s Star and I admit I am stumped on it right now so it went up on the design wall and I’m going to play with color for a couple days or longer before the next RSC quilt goes back on the wall.  I thought […]

Arkansas Traveler Top Done from Quilts....etc.

Now to square up the corners and put it away – it will probably be next up to quilt as of now there is nothing ahead of it.  It was a perfect day to sit at the sewing machine and work on this as it was snowing and I could watch the birds at the […]

It's WET out there! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Could there be a glimmer of hope about the phone? I spoke to someone yesterday who has similar issues, and they have "solved" it by finding a spot in their house where their voice doesn't cut out (I wasn't sure if it was just their voice or the call -- need to check that out) and then they use earbuds to roam the house while they talk. Hmm --- that could work, but where is that sweet spot? I was standing at the backdoor with my phone outside yesterday and still had issues!

I was up late last night trying ...
