It's all about Tula Pink from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Today, let's have a look at our Tula Pink class from Friday night. We've been using this book, and the last 10 blocks have been assigned. In November, we're going to see finished quilt tops!

100 Modern Quilt Blocks by Tula Pink

It's been a super fun class, and there are five quilts in the back of the book, so you have options for setting the blocks. And some people have done different settings, which is fantastic.

Barb is doing the Gridlock setting and followed the coloring in the book with the rainbow of colors. I ...

Hallelujah!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've been talking about positivity in our lives and how important it is. And it is  --  we need that little glimmer of hope to get us through the bad days.

Well, this UPS business has put my positivity to the test. BIG TIME. I don't how many people I've spoken to. I was switched from department to department. Case numbers were created and then never referred to. I tried to escalate the issue and failed. My calls were transferred, and phones rang and rang with no one to answer them. Some of the agents were downright rude ...

How Would You Quilt It? Barbara’s Tula Pink All Stars Quilt from Quilted Joy

A while back, Barbara shared a picture of her Tula Pink Polka Dot quilt top in the Quilted Joy Clubhouse. Don’t you just love the bright colors and the polka dots and stripes. She also fussy cut the circle medallions so all those circles have a cute colorful animal from the Tula Pink All Stars line. There are raccoons, owls, frogs and squirrels. It’s a lovely top and Barbara did a wonderful job of piecing it together. But how to quilt it?

During our monthly Quilted Joy Clubhouse meetings I spend a few minutes sharing how I might ...

Out of sight - out of mind from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow!!!!   We had so much fun at the Virtual Retreat, and we got to meet someone new. Hello to Kathy from Winnipeg. A lot of the usual suspects were present, and so great to chat with everyone! It's canning season, and I'll leave my friends to make their jam and jellies and other preserves. It doesn't make sense for me to make them since I don't eat them. I was tempted the other day when I saw homemade jams for sale, but then, I don't eat bread (or very little) so that the jam would ...

Tula Pink Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was one of those days where I spent a good part of the day on Zoom. All for good reasons, but it sure eats up the day! I think my e-mail is the one thing that is suffering the most. I have e-mails that I need to respond to, and well, I'm ignoring them. And I NEED to go in and unsubscribe from a lot of lists, because, just like that, my inbox is close to 4,500 e-mails. Now how does that happen?

I did get a customer quilt done, so that was good. I'll share ...

… Continuer de lire Trousses en tous genres!

A new pattern! from Sew Karen-ly Created...

I've had a quilt rattling around in my head for a bit and I am happy to say the pattern has become a reality.

"Encircling" is a great design to showcase large prints and gorgeous florals, and when I saw Tula Pink's "Curiouser and Curiouser" line I knew it was perfect.  A trip to Mrs Pugsley's Emporium in Amherst yielded this stack of Fat Quarters.  I paired it with Fairy Dust for the background, and a black solid for the rings and binding.

It was fun to see how closely the fabric matches the artwork on the ...

Another sewing marathon completed from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Phew! I did the impossible. I am READY (well, almost) ready for the classes today. I had one last night, and everything was prepped for that. There are three today, and while I didn't quite get all the sewing done, I got enough to show what we're doing. There are a few more pictures to take this morning and add to one of the presentations.

I decided NOT to do the demo live. Nope - I took a bunch of pictures and videos yesterday. And I was on a work call for nearly three hours - that consumed a lot ...

Noah, build me an ark! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- if you lived near me, we had a wicked storm last night. It rained on and off with lightning and thunder, and then at 1 AM, the heavens opened, and it was crazy windy with buckets of rain. The lightning was crazy. Murphy was not too happy, but she was OK, as she cuddled on the floor beside the bed. Miss Lexi - well, if she was scared, it wasn't enough to brave the stairs to be with her peeps! I can't imagine being in a tornado as the trees were being whipped around, and it was very ...

Best Friends QAL, the first one is complete from Jan's Quilts

Boy, photographing a queen-size quilt is a challenge.  I finally hung it from the rain gutter, above the garage door.  I really love how this turned out.  It's a housewarming gift for a great couple.

I had 6 quilts to put the binding on and this is #5, only one more to go, and it's another Best Friends quilt.

May your bobbins always be full,

The Froggy-Girl Quilt is Complete! from Jan's Quilts

One of my cousins, actually one of my cousins' granddaughters, loves frogs. She's 40 years old and legally blind. She has very limited vision; she started losing her vision at 3 years old. She's a trained chef and loves photography. She works as a nanny. And she's one of my favorite people.

When I cut out the frogs from the Tula Pink fabric, I didn't have enough, so I threw in some owls! The quilt top measures 48 inches square.

The Sparkling Patchwork Quilt is complete from Jan's Quilts

I really love how this Sparkling Patchwork Quilt turned out.  It's hot and the sun is very bright today, so the colors look a bit faded.  That blue is Kona Windsor Blue, one of my favorites.

You can read how I made this quilt from this post.  For the quilt back, I used the leftover striped fabric, since I hadn't used any on the front of the quilt.

This shows my new favorite panto, Dragonflies!  And below was my attempt at an "arty" photo!

What time is it? from Jan's Quilts

It's binding time!  These six quilts need binding!  Two are queen-size and the others are lap quilts.  I better get busy because my LAQ has six more; three will be ready at the end of June and three will be ready at the end of July.

This pandemic has really kept me busy making quilts.  I'd rather be creating than binding, but, "Oh, Well"!

Tula Pink Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I have two crazy weekends every month, and I'm in the middle of one of them, and I feel totally under control! Seriously?? OK -- so I have a few pictures to put into the presentation for this morning, but that doesn't take long. I've finally got masters of everything and learning how to upload last minute pictures from people - the technology (for the most part) is set up and working like a charm (knock on wood).

I do have a few e-mails to answer today, and I've lots of work to do this afternoon, but I ...

A Round Stroller Quilt from Jan's Quilts

I'm going to be a Great Grammy, in the Fall,  I recently read that round quilts are ideal for using with baby strollers.  They have no corners to drag or get caught in the wheels.  I also thought this would be a great playmat.  I'm still using up scraps from the two Best Friends QAL quilts.

The circle measures 44" across.

Sparkling Patchwork quilt top from Jan's Quilts

I'm calling this the Sparkling Patchwork quilt top and it's complete!  I made 9-patches and 4-patches from the scraps of my last 3 quilt tops, the two Best Friends QALs and the Froggy-Girl quilt top.  I contemplated adding a small border but vetoed that thought. It measures 51" x 43".

I still have more scraps and I have ideas!  Stay tuned

Tula Pink Sampler Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks to Marg and Cathie, I now know the difference between a Hairy Woodpecker and a Downy Woodpecker. They look the same, but apparently, the Hairy one is MUCH larger! I would say that we have a Downy Woodpecker visiting us - not the big guy!! Thanks for that information. And that was my learning tip of the day!

Wow -- an action-packed day yesterday and today will be the same. I had to get up at ridiculous o'clock to get the presentation finished for this morning's class. I've no one to blame but me. Instead of fooling around ...
