1. External stars in the blocks.
A key design feature of the original Stars Upon Stars quilt is that each block is unique. I decided replicate that idea by using different fabrics and colours for the external stars of each block. I opted for tone on tone fabrics in most cases, and tried to use every colour within my limited colour range - blue, aqua, green, pink, orange and yellow. If I repeated a colour I used a ...

read moreThank you for all the lovely comments on my Kokomo quilt. As promised I'm going to explain more about how I made it - both for anyone thinking about making one themselves, and for my personal record, because after all, that's what blogs are for.
Where do I even begin to describe my happiness with how this quilt has turned out?
I'm thrilled with it and I'm not going to let it out of my sight. I've even considered sewing an Apple AirTag into it so if it goes missing I can track it down! I've spent so many hours making this quilt but I've enjoyed them all.
I started this quilt back in January 2020. I've spent four years working on it in the background. I haven't once put it on social media or even shown my ...

read moreHere's my latest finish - Pretty in Pink. As I said last week, I had to rescue my Tilda fabrics from a plan gone wrong. There's little snippets of Tilda in this quilt, but they seem to have been over taken by Tula Pink!
I enjoy watching Tula Pink's videos each week on Instagram (or Facebook) and she often talks about how all of her collections are designed to work together. I've used fabrics from three of her collections here and they really do all work together.
The Lazy Stripe pink sashing and Dragonfly border are both ...
I've just picked up this quilt from my long arm quilter at Busy Bee Quilt Shop and I love it.
I don't want to post a photo of the whole quilt yet because I'm going to put the binding on this weekend and it will be worth the wait.
Tilda meets Tula |
I didn't set out to make a pretty pink quilt, but now that I have I'm really happy with it.
You may remember that a few weeks ago I started puddling around with some pretty Tilda fabrics. I rushed in to making a ...

I always wanted it to be cornerstones, very happy it worked out.

We know you’ve been waiting for it! Tula Pink Everglow has arrived!
The neon fabrics from the master of the rainbow is officially at Quilt Addicts Anonymous! We’ve got fabric bundles, yardage backing fabric and coordinating backgrounds from True Colors. We stocked up for you all.
I loved adding this collection to my Tula Stashin and seeing how it makes all the other collections pop for what will someday be a truly epic Tula Pink quilt.
Tula can sometimes go very fast, especially for much anticipated collections like Everglow. So shop now for the best selection, especially the ...
read moreIt's so nice to have time without a looming deadline! I have loads to do, but with no deadline, I had a great visit with my colleague yesterday. Of course, that put me behind with the day's schedule, and only ONE piece of paperwork disappeared, so this morning will be devoted to paperwork.
However, loads still got accomplished once she left. I'm still working on the cutting table, which is like a revolving door. Something might get placed there, and it's gone within a day or two. This is its current state.

I made this cute quilt back in 2017 when Tula's Holiday Homies range was first released.
Tula Pink has re-released Holiday Homes in flannel, but I was fortunate enough to get the original cotton version.
Another long but successful day! An extraordinarily productive and worthwhile meeting, which took way longer than planned, but I'm OK with that. If good comes from it - I'll meet all day. Now I have some work and new samples to make, but I'm super excited! Don't worry -- you'll get to see it all someday!
Something weird is happening in our neighborhood, and it's about deliveries. For whatever reason, the couriers can't seem to find this house. We had that issue with the package a week ago, where the box was supposedly refused, then ...

DH ordered those three things from Amazon, but I'm very skeptical that they will arrive in time. I'm watching the order, and if I don't see movement by Monday, I'm canceling the order, and I have to find Plan B for those three items. All of them are critical to my trip. Yep -- that's me -- leave it to the ...
