Building Houses in Aiken, SC from Butterfly Threads

I had full house of quilters at the Carolina Pine Quilters meeting on Monday night. I love how they have a wall of quilters from a featured quilter at their meetings. Doesn't it add a lovely backdrop to the room?

After the meeting I had the pleasure of staying at the home of the current president of the guild. Pat and her husband made me feel right at home! They were so kind and welcoming, I do hope I get a chance to visit them again!

Next to the room I stayed in, was Pat's sewing room. How ...

Monday Monday from Butterfly Threads

I'm off to South Carolina for a trunk show tonight and a workshop tomorrow! If' you're in the area I hope you'll join us. We're going to have fun!

Kelly is staying home with the animals while I'm away because the boys are off having fun riding roller coasters at Cedar Point with their dad.

We will all be back home in a few days, and then we are leaving again for Arizona! My niece is graduating and we thought we would take a peek at the Grand Canyon while we are there.

I hope ...

Home from Texas from Butterfly Threads

I had such a nice time in Texas! The quilters of the Golden Triangle Quilt Guild of Beaumont were so delightful. I visited the week after their big quilt show so they were experiencing a bit of "quilt show hangover" as anyone who's put on a major quilt show knows how that feels! They were so kind and cheerful and fun to be around even though they were clearly exhausted.

I got to meet the one and only Anne, the creator of the Strip Stick, which I had just been demoing at Tiny Stitches during the Shop Hop. I ...

Home Again and Gone... from Butterfly Threads

It was a quick trip to Alabama for sure, but I packed in a lot of fun and laughs with the amazing quilters of Covington County. What beautiful weather I had for the 5+ hour drive on Friday, and such a fun time with the ladies and man at the trunk show that night. The welcome and kindness that they showed me is the best reminder of why I love my job.

All day Saturday we had a fun workshop. It was ANYTHING GOES and they chose some simple patterns and a couple of more challenging ones as well. This ...

Alabama bound... from Butterfly Threads

Image 1
I will be visiting the quilters of Covington County Alabama tonight and spending the day with them tomorrow for a workshop. It's almost a 5 hour drive each way, so I'll be listening to a lot of books on CD!

In other news, I finished quilting another quilt on my new Amara last night and loved it! I did all free motion ruler work and would show a picture of it, but I'm not sure if this one is going to need to be a secret for a while. I HATE keeping secrets!! The good news is ...

Let's Bee Social #223 from Sew Fresh Quilts

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social!

That was the other fastest week of my life!

At last week's Let's Bee Social, I mentioned a trip to Wasaga Beach and then to Dunnville for trunk shows and a workshop. Yesterday I just returned from another show and workshop in Sarnia. What a wonderful way to spend a whirlwind tour in the early spring in Ontario!

Thankfully, my gracious and lovely host, Nora came to my rescue and sent me these photos from the workshop yesterday. Otherwise we may not have had a post for today!

Weekend in South Carolina from Butterfly Threads

I had a wonderful time with these lovely quilters in South Carolina this week. I visited them on Tuesday night and presented my Scrap Quilt Secrets trunk show.

On Saturday, I returned for a workshop day with them where we sewed lots of versions of Splash!
A quilt that I've made three times now and love every version.

The first version was made from my dad's shirts for my mom the first Christmas after he passed away.

The second version I made from batiks so I could have one for myself.

Then last week, I made this little ...

Magnolia Quilt Guild in Mississippi from Butterfly Threads

Last week I had the honor of visiting the Magnolia Quilt Guild in Mississippi. These lovely quilters were celebrating a special birthday in the history of their guild and they invited me to bring my Scrap Quilt Secrets trunk show as well as doing a fun day of workshops!

And when I mention that they were celebrating, I was quite impressed with how well they party. They had magnolia and quilt themed everything. Look at this cake! It was adorable and delicious!

They even treated me to a marvelous gift basket at the hotel. I was so surprised and delighted ...

February Frenzy from Butterfly Threads

This month has been packed with all kinds of adventures! I have had a little trouble keeping up with blogging this month because...

I had a visit from this boy and together we went to see this girl ride in a horse show at Berry College where she got a 2nd place ribbon! So proud of her, and so fun to see her ride western after so many years of riding hunter/jumper. And secretly relieved that she and the horse stay on the ground the whole time!

Buddy decided to go on an adventure while hubby and I were ...

Crazy Daisy and Spring Cleaning Workshops from Butterfly Threads

I had the joy of spending the weekend with these lovely ladies in Brandon, Mississippi this weekend. They were so much fun! We cut and sewed, and pressed and laughed and ate (the most amazing pound cake, thanks to that cutie in the front row, far right!)

And I was thrilled to see this quilt and hear the story of how the quilt made of houses (from Edyta Sitar) got combined with houses from my book Scrap Quilt Secrets and ended up being this beautiful creation. There's absolutely nothing better for me than to see elements of my designs ...

2017 Review and Highlights from Butterfly Threads

Before we get too far into the new year let's review the 'goals' I set for 2017 and see how I did...

1. READ more books.

SUCCESS! I read (and listened to) more books this year than I ever have.

2. NAP.

I managed a few but not nearly as many as I had hoped for. Life happened instead.

3. RIDE MY BIKE

Again, I enjoyed my bike during the summer, but never found enough time when the weather wanted to cooperate. I'm going to try harder this year.

4. FAMILY AND FRIENDS will get priority on my ...

Come say 'Hi"! from "...laugh yourself into *Stitches*, follow me..." ~Shakespeare~

I'll be at Fabric Depot Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3rd and 4th from 11am-3pm sharing my quilts and how to tackle those tiny pieces!!!

From the simple to the more complex

Come learn my tips on precision piecing...not to be confused with 'perfect piecing'. Lol

What thread do you use to piece a quilt?
Where do you line up your ruler...on or off the fabric?
Do you pin?

These are Pressing Matters....especially when working with small pieces!
I'll share what works for me and ...
