Fun in Southern Oregon from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I recently spent a few days with the Umpqua Valley Quilters Guild in Roseburg Oregon.
They are such a great group!

(In fact, you should mark your calendars - they have a wonderful Quilt Show coming up in April 2020.  You can check out their Facebook page here to learn more.)

I am very bad about getting out my phone and taking photos but I did snap a photo of everyone with one of their finished blocks in the Spin! class.  This group had a wonderful selection of colors and fabrics.  I look forward to seeing some finished quilt tops soon ...

~ Best of 2018, Part 3 ~ from Podunk Pretties

For the final day of the Best of 2018 I'll be choosing posts that meant the most to me.   Notice I said important and not favorite posts.  A lot has happened over the year but there were a few key moments that stuck with me for one reason or another.  In the last 2 Best of 2018 posts I listed them in order of views or comments.  There is no possible way for me to list these in any order.  Each one is special in its own right.

This was a huge moment for ...

I'm Home for the Holidays! from Butterfly Threads

My Christmas Cactus is already blooming!

My travel teaching year ended Wednesday when I returned home from a fun time in Pennsylvania. I do have one more program to give in December but it's local, so I will be able to sleep in my own bed until the end of the year! Unless my husband whisks me away on a romantic adventure, but I'm not holding my breath. LOL

It's so good to be home and in my warm cozy space. The Christmas lights are up on the outside of the house and I'm curled up ...

Houston Quilt Market 2018 from Butterfly Threads

(The view from our hotel room!)

I am still recovering from Quilt Market even though I had a wonderful night's sleep in my own bed last night. I was busy all day every day while in Houston, and it was the best kind of busy. I met old friends and spent time chatting and catching up.

I visited with online friends that I finally got to meet in real life for the very first time. Meeting Rachael and Lori was so fantastic! Words can't describe how happy it made me.

And making new friends who seemed to be ...

Full Spectrum Medallion from My Quilt Infatuation

Yesterday, I spent a lovely day with the Friendship Quilters Guild in Athens, AL, which also has some members in the North Alabama chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild.  We had such a fun time!  I have just a couple of open dates before my 2019 schedule is completely full.  Contact me ASAP to set something up for your guild!

Before I headed out of town though, I made sure to finish my latest medallion quilt  just so I could add it to my trunk show.  My, oh my!  Quilting this was quite an undertaking.

When I say that it ...

Quilt Guild of the Villages Trunk show and workshop from Butterfly Threads

On Tuesday I had the honor of presenting my trunk show Scrap Quilt Secrets to the Quilt Guild of the Villages, in Florida. It was a great group of about 200 fun quilters who showed up for my presentation. There was free ice cream as well, so that may have been helpful!

The next day was spent sewing and learning and having fun with a full day of  Under the Mistletoe workshop to a sold out crowd! I'm not exaggerating when I say I enjoyed every single one of the special women. The best part is, that no two ...

Ain’t No Junk: Trunk Tell All!! from Lisa H Calle's Blog

Tick, Tock, Goes the Clock..Tuesday’s the BIG day!

Yes, my fellow quilters and students have asked; and I have listened! Therefore, I am thrilled to announce that this Tuesday, July 17th, my online “Trunk Tell All” will go live! PLUS a lot of extras!

I have been hearing from many of you, far and wide, how you would love the opportunity to attend my trunk show but unfortunately logistically it just doesn’t work. That is simply unacceptable; I just cannot allow that to continue. There will be no more worries about where I”ll be, and how ...

Colorado Springs Quilters from Butterfly Threads

I flew to Colorado Springs Wednesday night because there were no flights on Thursday that arrived in time for me to present to the quilt guild. So Thursday morning (guild meeting wasn't until evening) I got a phone call from this sweet lady named Anne. She volunteered to be my hostess for the day and she was so delightful!

Our first stop was at Nana's Quilt Cottage in Old Colorado City. It is a tiny shop packed full of wonderful goodies. I found a few small treasures to bring home (but suitcase space is limited so I had ...

Building Houses in Aiken, SC from Butterfly Threads

I had full house of quilters at the Carolina Pine Quilters meeting on Monday night. I love how they have a wall of quilters from a featured quilter at their meetings. Doesn't it add a lovely backdrop to the room?

After the meeting I had the pleasure of staying at the home of the current president of the guild. Pat and her husband made me feel right at home! They were so kind and welcoming, I do hope I get a chance to visit them again!

Next to the room I stayed in, was Pat's sewing room. How ...

I'm off to South Carolina for a trunk show tonight and a workshop tomorrow! If' you're in the area I hope you'll join us. We're going to have fun!

Kelly is staying home with the animals while I'm away because the boys are off having fun riding roller coasters at Cedar Point with their dad.

We will all be back home in a few days, and then we are leaving again for Arizona! My niece is graduating and we thought we would take a peek at the Grand Canyon while we are there.

I hope ...

Home from Texas from Butterfly Threads

I had such a nice time in Texas! The quilters of the Golden Triangle Quilt Guild of Beaumont were so delightful. I visited the week after their big quilt show so they were experiencing a bit of "quilt show hangover" as anyone who's put on a major quilt show knows how that feels! They were so kind and cheerful and fun to be around even though they were clearly exhausted.

I got to meet the one and only Anne, the creator of the Strip Stick, which I had just been demoing at Tiny Stitches during the Shop Hop. I ...
