Good Day, Sunshine from Cat Patches

In contrast to the day before, yesterday was bright and sunny, with not a cloud in the sky. We decided to talk a little walking tour of the historic part of Boulder City, Nevada. We've done this on a previous visit, but took in some new sites yesterday. But first...some slow stitching. Here's yesterday's inchy:

We're down to the last square, which will be released this morning. There's still plenty to do on this piece, however. It's intended to last the entire month of this leap February. I'm sure we'll be ...

Miscellany from Cat Patches

We had a lazy day for our last day in Pahrump. This morning, we'll hit the road for Caliente, Nevada. I thought I might get out my sewing machine yesterday, but then didn't. Instead, I spent some time trimming up the half square triangles I made a few days ago. I'm guesstimating I had about 100 to do.

These have been kind of fun to work with. Some I recognize the projects they came from, and some I have no idea. I have a few other cut off ends of strip sets, and I'll find a ...

Triangulation from Cat Patches

There was time to squeeze in another day of sewing yesterday. I went to work sewing together zillions of bonus triangles collected over about three years' time. If you've read my post from yesterday, then you'll remember these:

Oh my gosh...there are way more triangles there than I imagined. In my dreams, I thought I'd have those all sewn together in about an hour. After two hours yesterday, I'd barely scratched the surface. It would be generous to say I'm about one-third of the way through the bag.

Of course, no sewing day is ...

Campground Upcycled Art from Cat Patches

We decided to hang out at the campground yesterday. While we were hiking the day before, I thought I noticed Mike limping a little bit. This morning, he was gimping around on his ankle pretty good. He broke his ankle many years ago, and sometimes it bothers him. It seemed like a good excuse to relax for the day. By afternoon, his ankle was quite a bit better, and so we got out for a walk.

We were having a problem with our furnace. The pilot light wasn't igniting, and so it wouldn't light the flame to produce ...

Stovepipe Wells, This Time with Pictures from Cat Patches

Okay, well, hello again. Now I'm writing to you from the Sunset Campground at Furnace Creek. It took us about an hour to put everything away, hitch up, pull ourselves over, and then set up again. I've had some time to check our cell phone signal. It's still a weak signal, sadly. It means I'll need to be judicious with my picture posting. Since our last visit to Death Valley, we've changed cell phone service providers, from AT&T to Verizon. We though about it for years, especially when we'd heard Verizon coverage was ...

An RV Day from ... Cat Patches

There's time to get off one more post before we head on down the road this morning. I'm not sure if I'll have internet access at our next place, but I do know we'll be without electricity. Sometimes lack of electricity is the deciding factor. Before we left on this trip, Mike installed solar panels on top of the RV. It makes sense since the goal was to head for sunny and warm locations. I'm not sure if they'll put enough charge on our batteries to run the laptop for any extended period of ...
