I am working with leftovers from previous projects making small items. It's working and I have a few done and others in the process.

So over a month ago, I decided that my studio needed a full over haul. I mean if you can't do a make over of your sewing room during Stay At Home Orders when can you?? I knew it was bad but I really hadn't a glimpse of how bad. Since the federal government was kind enough to send me back some of my tax dollars, I thought I would spend some and stimulate the economy! I set a budget of $400. Originally when I did my studio, I tried to spend as little as possible reusing things ... read more
My Original Sewing Hole....I totally outgrew this space |
So we continue.....(you can find Part I here)
I know you think I sew on a pristine clean sewing cabinet. Here is the real truth, a notebook with my lists of quilts awaiting quilting, blocks finished the last 2 days, a tub of yellow, black and white batiks for more crazy pieced blocks, 2 Kaffe books for research, a couple new masks and a pile of pieces for more of them, a few yards of elastic. I can only dream of a totally clean surface. It doesn ... read more
So the spring spruce of my sewing space has evolved into a full blown project. My husband was right though. Between the weather turning more sunny and a good project to occupy my mind, the covid quarantine blues have disappeared. If I had been in the right frame of mind, I probably could have predicted that this was going to be bigger than a weekend project. I guess, I just hadn't realized how dysfunctional the space had gotten. THEN once I did, well.....the overachiever in me kicked in. Plus, this is the kind of project that my true ... read more
is finishing up her last week of college which the end of an educational journey that started back in 2000. (Where does the time go right?) My husband is here just waiting to finish up his last construction projects before he can retire later this year. And then there is me. Still antsy...and cranky. So Paul suggested that I do something with my studio since the federal government was nice enough to send some of my money back to ... read more
I reached the point in my studio that I had to clean out or scream. I had so many plastic boxes and bins everywhere and especially on my floor. I had to do something. Michaels had 10 drawer rolling drawers on sale ($29.99 and coupon) and I bought 5 (one I gave to my son for his watercolor supplies). Shipped them to me for free.
I have to give Michaels a shout out, because one wheel in all of these units was the wrong one. I emailed them with a photo and within a few hours, they had one ...
Hello and happy Monday! Today I’m sharing A Quilting Life at Home | Part 1: my new sewing room. I’ve mentioned our recent move here and there, but now that we’re beginning work on our new home I’ll start sharing some of the details here as they relate to quilting and sewing. Last spring we […]

When I measured my drafting table I did an internet search and found out there was a mat that was just one inch shorter in both directions so basically it covers the whole top of the table.
It is similar to a mat that ... read more
I promised to do a studio tour 5 years ago, so here it is! LOL
It's never been clean enough, perfect enough, arranged enough...it's never actually reached my "vision"of what I wanted my studio to look like, but as I was reorganizing and rearranging a couple/few weeks ago, I realized that it's never actually going to look like that. Alas.
So here it is. Four hundred and fifty square feet, stuffed to the gills in all its glory!

I love to walk into my studio and see all of the beautiful fabrics on the shelves. However, I do not like to fold them and try to keep them neat and organized when they are folded.
I never seem to fold them the same size….so I decide to invest in some Polar Notions fabric boards. They are so easy to use and keep the fabric on display, neat and organized. I have gotten up to 10 yards on 1 board or as little as a yard. I have 100 of these boards and need to order 200-300 more ...

If you have been following this blog for a while, you know that I do all my work in my converted attic. An attic has obvious challenges in terms of storage, mainly due to the lack of straight walls. Over the last couple of years, I have accumulated a large number of big thread spools that I stored in plastic containers. And because they were stored ...
