hippie baby from Making A Lather

I would like to share how I am moving along my quiltville mystery quilt challenge, But I'm not moving. I did finish a mystery quilt last week- Carolina Crossroads. But I have already shared that.

however, I can't find the next 2 mystery quilts on the project shelves. But, I did find an interesting project box, and while I am looking for double delight mystery quilt, I will quickly finish these projects in the box and empty it.  Squirrel....

String Challenge and More from Jo's Country Junction

I  had so hoped that when I was off last week that each night I would go to the living room and sew a few of my string blocks.  That did not happen.  It did not happen at all.  My cleaning mood is still here and that kicked in instead….more on that in this coming Wednesday’s post.

I did my first blocks on the treadle loving it and then mid sewing it hit me that the machine should be oiled ….then I realized I need to oil in the under carriage.  I couldn’t loosen the screws and ...

String Challenge and What I’m Working On… from Jo's Country Junction

I have no childcare for the next week….so, I’m playing as much as I possibly can, that is in between driving to appointments in Lacrosse for the prep for my thyroid cancer recheck.

So what did I do…

I started sewing my churn dash blocks together only to discover that I cut about a quarter of the alternate blocks at 5″ rather than at 5 1/2″.  UGH!

So in between some other things I was doing in the kitchen, I started cutting new blocks.  I was a little sad at first and then decided to “get over ...

What I’m Working on and String Challege from Jo's Country Junction

I was really busy last week quilting my Scrap Crystals quilt, making Lucy’s quilt and working on a quilt for Scottie.  (More on Scottie’s quilt to come)  In between it all I was working on my little churn dash blocks.  I’ve been cutting out more blocks as I’ve gone along and finally have enough cut out.  All aren’t sewn yet but I do have 31 more to add to the tally.

I’m totally in love with the blocks.  I’ve been getting a little more risky and adventurous as I’ve been sewing.  I ...

String Challenge and Lucy’s Baby Quilt from Jo's Country Junction

Yesterday I told you that I was lamenting about the gray fabric for Lucy’s quilt…well this is what I ended up with….. plain light grays.

See the rectangle that’s plain?  Well I want Lucy’s name to go there….so I hand drew out some letters.  Here they are.  The first “L” was too big.  This is the second version.

I’ve not really done this kind of applique much so I’m a newbie.  I decided to use Lori Holt’s method using sew in interfacing.  I didn’t know what way to turn the letter ...

String Challenge and More from Jo's Country Junction

I didn’t get much done this week….
Life took over and that was more important.  I have a new family that started childcare.  They have a three year old girl and a year old boy. Between that and the other events, a no school day, a late start day and a kindergarten round up day, I did’t get any extra time to do anything during the day…and my evenings got a little busy too.

That’s okay..there is nothing looming on the time clock (at least not pressing) so it’s all good.  I have a ...

String Challenge and What I’m Working On…. from Jo's Country Junction

A shirt fest happened in my kitchen.  It’s TERRIBLY MESSY but I don’t care.  I’ve been having fun.

This is the kitchen island.  You can’t see what I’m doing but I’m cutting out several quilts at once.  I’ve been wanting and wanting to make a couple shirt quilts again but had put it off because of the mess.  No more.  It’s time to get messy.

I’m cutting pieces for Bonnie Hunter’s Sugar Bowl blocks….I’m cutting 3 1/2″ strips for Bonnie Hunter’s Tumalo Trail quilt.  I’m ...

String Challenge and More from Jo's Country Junction

So remember I told you that Kelli was obsessed with shirts right now.  Dang it.  It rubbed off on me.  I was helping her look for possible shirt ideas and then…it happened.  At least I don’t have TONS of shirts to cut down but I’m not guarenteeing that won’t happen yet.  You know how it goes.  I find one shirt that’s a great color and then suddenly I have a cart full!!

In all of that I came across a website Floating on a Cloud….and this quilt. Photo Courtesy of the site.  Link here ...

Being that I finished Charlotte’s Baskets I thought I might as well get going on Pineapple Crazy.  It’s my closest quilt to a finish.

I have the center finished.

What I’m Working On…and String Challenge from Jo's Country Junction

If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that on Friday morning I posted this picture.

I was so excited!  I had all of my blocks finished!!  The time sewing this has gone by so quickly.  I ended up looking as to when I first started talking about the quilt on the blog.  It was January 11th.  I had started it a few days before then but not a lot earlier.  I’d guess I started it on the  8th…I finished it on the 18th!!  I wish some of my other quilts happened that quickly.

I’ve ...

String Challenge and More! from Jo's Country Junction

With my mystery quilt finished I have been busy sewing some things of my own.  Yahoo!!  I like doing the mystery but by the time I get to the end, I start to think of it more as a chore.  UGH.  At the beginning I’m excited to carve out some me time and sew away.  By the end I’m thinking enough already I want to be sewing on something else.  That’s my nature and why I work on several projects at once.  I never get bored.

So I’m been putting LOTS of my time into the ...

Mystery and String Challenge from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

This is typically the title of my morning post but being it’s New Year’s today I did a little “Happy New Year’s” post this morning and am sliding my “What I’m Working On” post into this evening’s slot.

If you’re been following the mystery quilt by Bonnie Hunter you know that the clues are coming to a close.   Friday was my “me day”.   I went to the dentist and got a crown put on a tooth, to get a mammogram and then for my annual physical.

When I got home I was chomping at ...

String Challenge and Mystery Sewing from Jo's Country Junction

image_pdfimage_print

I’m hooking up with Bonnie Hunter’s Mystery Quilt link up today.  Welcome if you’re new here and the link up brought you.  We are a busy blog with update twice a day, unless life gets in the way.  There’s always something going on here!!

Last week I finished up the quilt for the wedding and then the busyness of the week before Christmas set in.  On top of that…I caught a nasty cold!  I didn’t know how mystery sewing would go but it went fine….

I cut it out on Friday over naptime..and ...
