Half Square Triangle Scraps – Using every bit from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Use every bit of your fabric. This tutorial used the scraps from diagonal cuts.

Have you ever set aside half square triangle scraps with the intent to use them but can’t figure out what to do with them? What do you do with your project scraps? I always feel so good when I save them. They are perfect to use in charity blocks or a scrappie project. As I was working on two of the three Double Pinwheel Quilts I made, I did a little prep work and laid the foundation for a few hundred half square triangles all from scraps. They have been waiting patiently for me in a basket on top ...

This 'squirrel' is not a squirrel at all! from Elsie Quilts

Quilters have a name for a project that strikes our fancy and turns us away from everything we are working on. These "I must make this now" projects are "squirrels" - or various other names. I've been working on this one, which is not squirrels at all but five fine Dachshund dogs that used up a few of my scraps.

I did buy the background fabric after doing the design in EQ8, which told me I needed about a yard more then it really needed -- so it wasn't a scrap-buster because my stash became larger! Oh well, who is ...

Day 1 QAL Fun! from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I know we all have that bin of fabric, you know, all the bits and pieces for projects past. Much of it is our favorite colors and prints. Well gather that all up. I have a three day project for you. Yep, three days.... you can do this!  I am making mine scrappy using my batik bin of fabric and some white fabric for my background. Mine is going to be 84" x 100", sorta huge but I want it to cover a bed. You can scale yours down if you would like. This quilt is jelly roll friendly too ...

A Stash Buster QAL from Quilt Doodle Doodles

I'm not even sure how many days we've been practicing self distancing. Seems like f-o-r-e-v-e-r but I know we can do it! My best friend and I had lunch the other day. You are wondering how right? Well we both went thru the drive thru at Chick Fil A and got our lunches, parked in a parking lot like the police do on donut break and visited with our car windows open leaving a nice distance between us. It was a great visit and sure to be one we won't forget! We talked about quilting and what ...

Stash busting from Elsie Quilts

These pieces and the block are from my box of brown/orange scraps. The plan is to make the blocks until the scrap bin is empty, adding from stash if needed to make at least a twin-size. The block finishes at 8" so I will need at least 40 of them, likely more.

This will be a darkish quilt but some contrast and bright spots. I've only one block so not sure how the setting will go, but at least the scraps will go! Well, I might keep the largest of the leftovers, too small for 2.5" but ...

Longarm Renters Show Off Beginner to Advanced Quilting Levels from Quilted Joy

There are many things that I feel make quilting one of the best hobbies to have. What we make is very useful. It can even save a life from hypothermia! Can a cross stitch do that? I don’t think so. There is room for all levels. A beginner can make a lot of mistakes and still pull together something beautiful they can be proud of. While an advanced quilter can take the time to make every seam and intersection perfect and create something truly impressive. It is also a craft that allows you to take scraps and perfect one ...
