Introducing The Sponsors For Once Upon A Story RAL… from Seams To Be Sew

This is the one event each year where I try very hard to cover each blogger/designer with a giveaway from one of the wonderful companies I’ve been priveleged to work with over these last five years on my blog. Some of these companies have participated in every event I’ve offered, while others have participated in every row along. I’m always looking for new companies, but to be honest, I love working with companies whose products I do use. With that said, these are this year’s companies who are sponsoring wonderful giveaways for you to enjoy ...

Anna Maria Horner + Aurifil Balloon Mini Quilt from Blossom Heart Quilts

Last month, I had the opportunity to receive some fat quarters of Anna Maria Horner’s Passionflower fabric and a coordinating spool of Aurifil thread and have a play. Of course I said yes! Here’s the prints I received, along with a spool of Aurifil 4173.

Anna Maria Horner and Aurifil

Around the same time, Sarah of Sarah Ashford Studio asked if I would like to make a block from her latest pattern – Up & Away. When two projects arise like this around the same time, I often try to combine them if possible. And this collection of fabrics turned out to be the perfect ...

Wool Ironing Mat Review – Comparisons With an Ironing Board from Blossom Heart Quilts

This year, I have heard a few bits and pieces about wool ironing mats – these squishy, felted wool mats that supposedly are more efficient at pressing your fabric and sewing as the wool retains the heat so it presses from the top and bottom in one go. I’m not going to lie, I kinda gave them an eye squint of mild skepticism, but also the curiosity of “I guess they must somehow work, right? Because I know wool has some kind of magical heat conducting properties with clothes and doonas.” Oh yes, my inner monologue gets quite scientific, ha ...

Sewing With My Daughter – A Play Cape from Blossom Heart Quilts

One big plus for my Pfaff Passport that is missing on my other machine is speed control (it would have been an extra $300 for it!), so since getting the Passport, I’ve finally been able to let my kids learn how to machine sew here and there, as they express the interest in doing so. Last holidays, my daughter asked me to make her a new play cape… to which I happily informed her that SHE could make it herself!

We had a wonderful time over the next few days sewing together (because sewing four seams is rather onerous ...

Aurifil Artisan 2018 from Blossom Heart Quilts

Due to my trip, I’m a little late to share the wonderful news that I’m returning once again as an Aurifil Artisan! I’ve long loved and used Aurifil, so it’s always a thrill to be able to officially represent the brand and product I love so much.

Aurifil Artisan 2018

It’s an incredibly talented group of Artisans – there’s quilters and bag makers and artists and sewists and more! Such a diverse range of skills represented this year, and I’m excited to see what we all get up to over the next 12 months. We will be ...

Premade Quilt Binding – A Dream Come True from Blossom Heart Quilts

It is a very well documented fact that quilt binding is my most dreaded step in the whole quilting process. Machine binding quilts has helped reduced the levels of despair I experience while doing it (as it’s over so much more quickly now!), but all. that. pressing?! Ughhh…

This probably started when in Japan, where we didn’t have an ironing board because “Oh we’re not here for long, why invest in something so big and bulky?!” *facepalm* Definitely one of those big “Oh seriously, Alyce!” moments in my life. Instead, I had a towel on a low ...

Shop My Must-Haves and Quilty Favourites! from Blossom Heart Quilts

Amazon has a great new program that allows “influencers” (aka those who have a social media presence) to curate their own Amazon shop of sorts, filled with personal product recommendations. What better way to easily share the tools and notions that I highly recommend?! I’ve had fun filling my Amazon shop with items – notions, tools, books, yay!

Woven Labels For Your Projects + Dutch Label Shop Coupon Code from Blossom Heart Quilts

Do you label your quilts? Early in November, for some random reason I can’t recall, I had read this post by Jeni from In Color Order about her adorable little labels, and had been thinking that something like that would be much better for this lazy quilt labeller. I’m shocking at remembering to do it, unless I actually have to do a quick, temporary one when sending it off to a magazine! Of course, I left it at that “I should…” thought until a couple of weeks later, I freakishly coincedentally received an email from Dutch Label Shop ...

AccuQuilt BOM: Patisserie Block 3 from Blossom Heart Quilts

Hmm, I’m not exactly sure what flavour a blue donut would be… blueberry? Blue Heaven? Fairy floss? Let me know what you think what flavour this block would be in the comments! In fact, talking of donuts, AccuQuilt Australia recently shared a delicious felt donut pillow tutorial. So cute! But anyway, you can now go download the pattern yourself from the AccuQuilt Australia blog.

Liberty Liberty Liberty from Blossom Heart Quilts

It’s been an exciting week of Liberty around these here digs! Last week, I placed my first order online at Liberty London when I read somewhere that they had a new lot of fabrics on super sale (aka 50% off). What this means is that instead of around AU$50/m for local Liberty, it works out to be about AU$20/m instead. Now, sure, you have to buy a minimum of a metre, but really, that’s an insignificant matter, ahem…

I put the call out to some local Liberty lovers and we all shared the shipping ...
