scarecrow rug from Making A Lather

Hubby and I had a great time at the wool keepers rug hooking event in Danville, Indiana. It was my first big car trip and away from home time since back surgery. I really enjoyed the rug hookers, and their enthusiasm. There were more vendors there than usual, and the colors of wool were worth drinking in and feeling the inspiration. Rug hooking has been a wonderful way to meet with some very lovely women in my area. But, just like quilting, I have enough wool and enough projects so that I didn't plan on buying or starting anything ...

carolina chain blocks from Making A Lather

Right now, any sewing I do has to be easy and easy to reach. I found these laying next to the machine. I use Carolina chain as an away project, but it just looked like fun, so, I sewed a few blocks. I'd like to say that this is a great scrap buster pattern, but, it barely made a dent.

I've started another snowman for my rug.

snowman rug from Making A Lather

Nothing new is really happening here, until I find a new normal from surgery. Hubby has been off of work taking care of me and we are starting to talk about him going back to work. So I am a good deal better.
I have pulled my rug hooking out for when I am just sitting and resting. I can hook 2 or 3 strips before I need to move again. I don't see any pictures of this rug on the blog yet. Here are the first and second cute snowmen.

and Jimmy Durante snowman.

tiny tuesday from Making A Lather

I needed to get back to making my tiny Tuesday blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge. I am a "tiny"  bit behind. haha I have finished May and orange. I have 3 for June and blue yet to do.

I have a snowman finished for my rug hooking. I don't know why I am dragging my feet on this rug. The snowmen are adorable and they are easy to hook.

I am getting very close to having all the garden party blocks sewn. I will need to cut 1 1/2 inch strips for the chain blocks.

Tomorrow is ...

stash report May 19, 2019 from Making A Lather

I've added a few pieces to my civil war reproduction stash, since I am using them in my circa 1880 swap. I have many more prints than neutrals, and, it seems I am using a lot of neutrals. I really like the cheddar/ mustard yellows and poison greens, so I add them any chance I get. This sort of fabric doesn't seem to be popular right now with all the modern and bright colors available. I hope that pretty soon, people will be sending repro fabric to goodwill, until then, I have to buy here and there since ...

new rug hooking from Making A Lather

Mr. Frosty #1 is complete and I have started Mr. Frosty #2.

If I am doing a dark night sky, I am not sure what color to make the hat yet. I  want it to contrast. So black won't work. I guess I will get colorful.

Carolyn finished her moon rug - very cute.

fair and square from Making A Lather

Two Friday group sews, and all the 4 patches are attached for Fair and square, a quiltville pattern. I am thrilled with the scrappy goodness.

I have the framing pieces cut, and will start adding them to the blocks at the next Friday group sew. It won't be this Friday as hubby and I are off to a fiber festival for the day.

Yesterday was rug hooking guild, and I started mr. snowman. He is going to be so cute.

new rug hooking project from Making A Lather

I have been very slow on rug hooking my circles rug. I started 4 circles in January, and have just finished them. I was doing this as an in between project. I had finished the Cleveland rug, and I hadn't decided what the next project would be.  I have some really great projects in the planning stages. I just couldn't decide.

It will be a big rug. Each of the bigger circles are 4 1/2 inches and I fill in with whatever size will fit. I have a long way to go, But, I have a new ...

snowman rug from Making A Lather

I decided it was time to make a new rug. I've struggled with no inspiration. I just picked a pattern and started to transfer it to linen. I had drawn the pattern and enlarged it. I had it pinned and was ready to transfer to linen, and we had family for dinner, and it was scooped off the dining room table and off on an adventure.
But, I hunted through the jungle of a house, and found it, and started the transfer. I used red dot webbing and a juicy sharpie pen.
It took 2 visits to rug hooking ...
