Color it Red Blog Hop from Quilted Delights

Welcome to my day of the Color It Red Blog Hop!  Hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt.

All we had to do to play along was make a project that had red in it.
Today I am showing off what I made with some of my favorite shades from my stash.

I call it Diamond Bars.

There are twelve different red fabrics in this one.
I used my 9 inch Creative Grid equilateral ruler to cut out all my triangles and angled strips.

The quilt has two different type triangles, one with a small inner white triangle and ...

Jelly Glazed Hearts Tablerunner {Fat Quarter Shop Hop} from Little Bunny Quilts

Today I am participating in the Jelly Glazed Hearts tablerunner blog hop with the Fat Quarter Shop! Check out their post on the Jolly Jabber here!

For this project, I picked a mini jelly roll of the new Alma line from the Ruby Star Society and picked one of cream prints for the background fabric.

I picked out eight strips from the jelly roll for my blocks and paired them up.

Next came chopping my strip sets into the correct lengths for each block.

Then I made the heart blocks and added the setting triangles to each block.

This is ...

Patchwork Christmas Stocking Remix {Fat Quarter Shop Fun} from Little Bunny Quilts

Today I am participating in the Fat Quarter Shop's "pattern remix" for their Patchwork Christmas Stocking pattern!

Click here to see the original post and pattern! Click here to check out the other "remixes" of this pattern!

For my stockings, I used the same instructions with the exception that the pieced and quilted part of my stocking uses slightly larger quarter square triangles made from charm squares rather than half square triangles.

For my fabrics, I used an older set of 5" squares from my stash featuring the older Amanda Murphy line, Nordic Holiday. My background fabric is from ...

Spooky Halloween {Finished Table Runner} from Little Bunny Quilts

My October Island Batik Ambassador challenge is complete!

For the machine applique stitching, I used a simple blanket stitch in black thread for all of the blocks.

I then pieced everything together and layered it with backing and batting, only to realize, that yes, I was a couple inches short on backing length using a single width of fabric. Oops.

To remedy my problem, I added a strip of black fabric approximately 5" wide to my backing to get the necessary length.

Here's my quilted table runner, after trimming and before adding the binding:

In the block backgrounds, I ...

When life gives you scraps… from Veni Vidi Vicky

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
…you have to improvise a little.

My last baby quilt left me with a bunch of HST clippings in aqua and teal hues. The scraps were barely 1.5” square,  would I have trimmed them up before sewing with them I might have ended with a grid as small as 0.5”. Nope, that wasn’t a day for tiny piecing and I don’t need much convincing to skip trimming in general. I was going to wing it that day and just piece those HSTs in the shapes they came in – no discrimination, just improvising.
