Simplicity Quilt Kits by Connecting Threads! from Busy Hands Quilts

Simplicity has been kitted by Connecting Threads in their Chateau d'Avignon fabrics, a beautiful collection of teals, mint greens, and grays.  The quilt kit is the Throw size.  You'll love the precut print charms included with black yardage in the quilt kit which makes it super quick to make.  The Simplicity quilt kit is available at Connecting Threads right here.

The Simplicity quilt pattern includes five sizes.  Block sizes increase as the quilt sizes increase, so the bed sizes use fat quarters rather than charm squares.  I didn't think you wanted to make ...

Simplicity Quilt Pattern - a Throw in Wild Crimson! from Busy Hands Quilts

Today I'm sharing a quilt from last year!  This Simplicity quilt has had to wait at every step of the quilt-making process, and today is her day to shine!

The Simplicity quilt pattern is a quick and easy HST pattern.  The larger bed sizes are made with larger blocks to make the process go much faster.  I didn't think you really wanted to make almost 700 HSTs for a king size, so the block size is increased in bed sizes.  :)

The Simplicity quilt pattern is available in the Busy Hands Quilts shop.

Simplicity Throw Quilt Pattern - a Custom Quilt! from Busy Hands Quilts

I'm behind at blogging and plan to get caught up over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for news on some new quilts!

This Simplicity Throw quilt was made last year as a custom order for a little girl whose mom had taken her picture on a piece of fabric every month for the first year or so.  As a memory for these precious occasions, the mom had a quilt made with the fabrics, and I got to make it!

This isn't the first time ...

Finding Pleasures from Quilting through Rose-colored Trifocals!

Good morning and welcome to the shortest day of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere) which means it's also the longest night of the year.  It's always a gray time of the year here in Northeast Ohio -- we crave sunshine as there's still a big hunk of winter weather ahead!?!  So today, I have few quick ideas to share that are helping me stay hopeful as we finish out this epic year.

First I want to call your attention to a thoughtful knitter from England who hit the nail on the head for me yesterday with her ...

Simplicity Throw Quilt! from Busy Hands Quilts

This week I finished a Simplicity quilt in Throw size, a super happy HST quilt in a variety of fabric collections.  This quilt pattern includes 5 sizes - Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen, and King.  The HSTs are larger in the larger size quilts so they go together quicker.  I've done all the math for you, so you can grab your fabrics (even scraps!) and go!

I've had this extra-wide backing in my stash for quite some time, and now and again the perfect quilt comes along to match just right.  :)

And striped binding?  Yes, please!  Stripes make my favorite ...

simple shawl I can't get wrong? from Charm About You

My attempts at dressmaking are practically none existent, other than some very cute baby dresses made way back and the occasional make for my kids. Simple stuff but simple is a good place to start isn't it? Patterns terrify me and for a long, long, long time I have wanted to make my own clothes. I'm saying this knowing I have said it before but maybe this will be the year.

This is perhaps the simplest make ever because I cheated. I used this knit jersey from The Textile Centre
