Another of Mrs. Mary Lee's quilts ~~ finished from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

I am happily reading Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago. It's slow going—I'm on page 113 of 560but the story is getting more interesting as I advance. Pasternak won, but declined, the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958 for this volume about Russian life beginning with the Bolshevik Revolution moving through World War I to 1930. One reason that the novel is a struggle is that I have to stop and research events, people, terminology, and so on, quite often. It's a big undertaking, to say the least. Why am I doing it? Summer sewing from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

What summer sewing have you been up to? A bit of quilting or something less hot? Here in Louisiana the temps and humidity are so high that I've been focusing on smaller items. Most of those have been for the grands, but I did get out a pattern and sewed up a top for myself. 
It's not exactly my style, but then it's not a regular tee. I really like loose, soft tee shirts. I had to dress up in heels and dressy clothes enough while teaching that I want to wear light, loose-fitting, comfortable clothes. Right ...

And then there were six! from Celtic Thistle Stitches

Somewhat surprisingly we have been basking in sunshine in my part of the world recently, not something that the West coast of Scotland is very well known for :)

So it was definitely time to have a go at Brindille and Twig's Banded pants pattern to rustle up some smart new shorts for the gorgeous grandson, who has also been enjoying the summer sunshine. I bought the pattern in April when it first came out, but this was my first attempt at making the shorts.
