Pat Sloan Splendid Sampler 2 Pat Star light

This week there are 4 blocks for you to stitch up

I had this stripe (still available HERE) that seemed just perfect to add into my quilt. I'd used it for my bees on the Honey bee block. Now I wish I'd used it sooner, but..it's not in the mix!

Build – Day 1 from Terificreations's Weblog

Over the last few days I’ve been in my sewing room making four patches from Northcott Microchips, 2 1/2” squares, and piecing a quilt top using some Michael Miller 5” squares. I’m not quite sure yet what I’m doing with the four patches or the small quilt top but what I do know is that… Continue reading Build – Day 1

A Nod to The East: Silkroad Fusion Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers!

If you have been following AGF for a while, you would know that we don't often focus on contrasting colors of black, red, and white in our collections. Well, we decided to do things a little different this time and this time, and bring them to center stage in our latest collection! Inspired by what you’d discover while traveling the trading route that connected The East to The West, AGF created its latest collection, “Silkroad Fusion.” This fabric line celebrates the emerging trend of Asian influences in textiles with designs from ancient techniques of brushwork that ...

Practical and Easy Project PouchWe always need something to... from Living Water Quilter

Practical and Easy Project Pouch

We always need something to carry our “stuff”.  Recently, a fellow Fredericksburg Modern Guild member posted a cute vinyl project pouch. She used the free pattern by Kristina Brinkerhoff.  Find the pattern here.

image

I had fun making the pouch with some modifications in size and design. Instead of the 2-inch pieced fabric grid in her pattern, I choose to add ruler quilting to a 15-inches square piece of fabric.

image

Several Spin an Echo templates were used to create the above designs. The designs are surrounded by free hand free-motion quilting.

This was also an opportunity ...

Because it's an easy block, I decided to try out 2 colorways for my 100 block quilt.

I really love the taupe, it's soothing and I could see a whole quilt like this. I've never done one in all taupe. You can see them together at the end and tell me which you would use!

The story of our backyard transformation, DIY retaining wall, sprinklers, and sod from edeenut

It's been years since I've had a house to settle in and make some changes to. Our house we own in Riverside, California that we lived in for over nine years is now a rental. We moved to Orange county and rented for 3 years and now we are renting in Arizona. We have been pretty content with the way the rentals were set up design wise. But in December we get to move into our newly purchased house and I'm so giddy to be at the point where I can make changes. Paint, new flooring, new ...

Dramatic Opulence: "Virtuosa" Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers,

Do any of you LOVE going to see plays or performances?!

It's such a fun event! Getting all dressed up in a nice outfit, entering the theater and taking a seat, waiting for those red curtains to lift up and for the show to begin! From the introduction of the characters to hearing their stories be told through action or songs, the lightning, the set design, the costumes, and overall mood is just incredible, especially from a production point of view! Theater reminds us to be in the present and to be fully immersed in what's ...

Barely Controlled Chaos from Becca's Crazy Projects

Anyone that has been in my sewing space knows that some parts of the space are neat and tidy. Others, are piles of barely controlled chaos. This is what my cutting table looked like on Saturday morning. No room to get anything done. I had to tidy just so I could get started.
The serger was still set up from my last project. Complete with a pile trimmings.
During the week I made these somewhat lumpy arm warmers using leftover fabric from last week's Halloween project. I haven't given up on arm warmers. I just don't think ...

Large Format Printing from Becca's Crazy Projects

I recently ordered large format printing for a pattern I ordered online. In the past, I've done the print on my printer using letter sized paper and taped it all together. Many independent designers also offer their patterns as A0 size. That means you can print most of their patterns on three or four large sheets, very minimal or no taping required.
After doing a little bit of homework, I decided to go with PDF Plotting. I discovered they have super-quick service (they printed my pattern the day after I ordered it and shipped it the same day). Even ...

Summer shirt favorite from Old Navy, sewing hack for a perfect fit from edeenut

For summer I pretty much live in t-shirts. I do like to break up the knit shirt with other options that are cool and comfortable if I find some.
This was a recent find from Old Navy that fit the summer comfy requirements. It is a very lightweight woven cotton rayon blend, but not thin or sheer. Yes! It defeats the purpose if I have to wear an undershirt or tank top underneath in the hot summer.

The back has a gathered detailing, as well as the front shoulders. The crop sleeves have a tiny cuff which I love, but ...

Inspired by Rococo Art: Decadence Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers!

Besides being all about fabric, are you also an "art lover?!" I'm definitely one! From an early age, my parents introduced me to many art museums near and far around the world where I had the incredible opportunity to see so many types of art. It was during this time I was introduced to the "Rococo Period." This art movement consisted of highly ornate and a extravagant style of architecture, art and music that flourished in Europe in the 18th century. I fell in-love with all of it!

Baroque

As I grew older and went to art school ...

As promised from my earlier post this week, here are the instructions I provide with my envelope closure pillow kits for Pinners Conference. Be sure to sign up early for my next class in November 2018 in Arizona because this class has always filled up online in advance. Registration should open in a couple months.

Our fun Bright fabrics were from Premier Prints and they were a huge hit! Everyone loved them ...
