It's a Cinch Bag from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been meaning to make the It's a Cinch Bag from Patterns for Pirates since it was released. It is a free pattern and there is even a video tutorial if you're more of a visual learner. I pulled three fabrics from my stash and got cutting.
I made the strap using a bias binding tool instead of sewing then turning that much tubing. I did use my favorite bodkin to get it threaded into the channel.
I added some lightweight fusible interfacing to the outer bag panels to give the bag a little more structure. The ...

What's in a Name Tag? from Becca's Crazy Projects

To help people get to know each other, the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild coordinated a name tag swap.

I decided that I want to do some tiny paper piecing to make sure I got it right. I designed a stack of tiny flying geese. I used Electric Quilt 8 to design the paper piecing papers. There is an option to print as many as will fit on a page, so I went with it. There was a printing problem (the user) so I ended up with two pages of these.
I grabbed my bin of scraps and make a couple ...

Jessica Swift's Collection: LUGU from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers,

I'm super excited to share with you our designer Jessica Swift's latest collection, LUGU!

LuguLogo

If you're not familiar with her designs, she often features lots of playful, folkloric and whimsy designs mixed with strong storytelling. Her collections definitely evoke a sense of nostalgia and childhood wonder that make them perfect for kids or adults that are young at heart! I especially love this collection because of the cute, little owls in it with their big eyes! They're one of my favorite birds and I love that they also represent "wisdom." :)

This time around with ...

Lola pouch ~ swap from Charm About You

Honestly swaps make me a bit nervous, what if the recipient judges my sewing or worse doesn't like what I've made for them. There have been occasions where I haven't taken part in swaps because of time constraints but then I feel left out. Knowing I could focus on one small make, I jumped in to join the pouch swap for the Purple Stitches Sewcial Retreat which was this past weekend.
Despite the worries, it's actually made easy when you join a swap as very often you are asked what you like / dislike and you are ...

A Squared Approach: Grid Fabric Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

I remember walking into my "Sacred Geometry" class in art school and being so confused by everything our teacher was explaining for the first, few weeks. The class involved a lot of math and applying it to creating art, and well, math and I aren't the best of friends, haha! It wasn't until a few weeks when he started breaking down how artists during the Renaissance period used a special grid to create their paintings that I suddenly become super intrigued and wanted to know more and more! The special grid was called "The Golden Ratio" or also ...

Build – Day 1 from Terificreations's Weblog

Over the last few days I’ve been in my sewing room making four patches from Northcott Microchips, 2 1/2” squares, and piecing a quilt top using some Michael Miller 5” squares. I’m not quite sure yet what I’m doing with the four patches or the small quilt top but what I do know is that… Continue reading Build – Day 1

A Nod to The East: Silkroad Fusion Collection from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Hi Makers!

If you have been following AGF for a while, you would know that we don't often focus on contrasting colors of black, red, and white in our collections. Well, we decided to do things a little different this time and this time, and bring them to center stage in our latest collection! Inspired by what you’d discover while traveling the trading route that connected The East to The West, AGF created its latest collection, “Silkroad Fusion.” This fabric line celebrates the emerging trend of Asian influences in textiles with designs from ancient techniques of brushwork that ...

Practical and Easy Project PouchWe always need something to... from Living Water Quilter

Practical and Easy Project Pouch

We always need something to carry our “stuff”.  Recently, a fellow Fredericksburg Modern Guild member posted a cute vinyl project pouch. She used the free pattern by Kristina Brinkerhoff.  Find the pattern here.

image

I had fun making the pouch with some modifications in size and design. Instead of the 2-inch pieced fabric grid in her pattern, I choose to add ruler quilting to a 15-inches square piece of fabric.

image

Several Spin an Echo templates were used to create the above designs. The designs are surrounded by free hand free-motion quilting.

This was also an opportunity ...
