My second new quilt start happened this week with yet another block-of-the-month class. This one is based on a pattern called "Cream and Sugar" by It's Sew Emma. I've decided to adopt the lower-contrast neutral palette as illustrated; I think it will be pretty and a nice way for me to experiment with value, it will be fun. I'm home!  We left Winnemucca, NV fairly early and headed for home in Arnold, CA.  We stopped in Gardnerville, NV to have lunch with a friend that Gail hasn't seen in 55 years. Then the car headed over Ebbetts Pass on autopilot.  The eastern side of the Sierras are so beautiful in Gardnerville.  

 

Home is over the mountains in the distance which we had to drive over.

 Hello Everyone,

We got a very early rocky start to our day.  Both Gail and I were craving our foo foo vanilla lattes at Starbucks.  We were thrilled to find a Starbucks in Rock Springs, WY.  Gail was driving so she pulled up to the window, ordered, paid, and then drove away!  Hey Gail, what about our lattes?  After an extended laughter, we headed through some very interesting landforms in Wyoming while sipping our lattes.

We saw our first bison yesterday about 1 mile into Theodore Roosevelt National Park. What a handsome animal.

We've had a very busy and fun-filled three days at the Badland Quilters Retreat.  After my Peek-a-Boo Pumpkins class on Friday, we had dinner then Amy Munson presented a trunk show on the history of Crazy Quilts.  This is not a crazy quilt, but it is a good picture of Amy and a quilt she made and showed during the show and tell session.

Today was the first day of the Badlands Quilters Retreat. It was a balmy 24 degrees this morning when we left the hotel for breakfast.

We started out the day drinking 'Mountain Mud' coffee in Billings, MT and ended the day eating Walleye in Medora, ND.  We quickly drove out of the mountains in Montana and entered the rolling plains and grasslands in eastern Montana.  We were sprinkled on just a bit, maybe we were being baptized in the plains.

My sister Gail and I are heading out Monday morning at o-dark-hundred to start our road trip to the Badlands Quilters Guild in Medora, ND.  We are taking all of you with us on our journey!  I will try to post pictures of the scenery along the way.

We have had a lot going on lately and unfortunately our needles have been rather still, much to our dismay. Between road trips, health, and family, we have had to take a little hiatus from the blog and social media. Our needles will be busy soon, but in the meantime we will share a few pictures from the aforementioned road trip. It was to Paducah, Kentucky for the AQS quilt show and it was wonderful!

I'm still here, back home in Nebraska, after a 2500 mile road trip. Yes, I LOVE to drive.  Part of my trip was to meet up with my High School GF who lives south of Chicago.  After we arrived back in my home in western Nebraska and recuperated a day, we drove north thru Wyoming to visit Devils Tower near Hulett, WY.  She had never seen "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", so I checked out that film from our local library and gave her a lead in for the Tower, with that space ship scene!  Our drive north ...

Teri and I (Kara) are off on our first road-trip together since I came home from Germany and we decided to make the most of it—a stop at the Virginia Quilt Museum, an antique mall stroll, and a quick visit to a local winery. We will be teaching our Village Wanderings—Shops this weekend at the Charlottesville Area Quilters Guild and we can't wait!

OK -- so the timing of the road trip was NOT the best. I have a lot of work to do, and I didn't get back until later in the afternoon. However, that day was the only day that worked for Dede, and we were going for her sake, plus we had a sweet ride - I was in! 

Dede had to pick up some fabric and a book all the way in Seaforth, so we headed out early in the morning. I waved HI to Shelly as we zipped through her neighborhood. 

Let's just say that it's fun ...

We made a trip up to New England to visit with family and spend Mother's Day with my mother. As of this morning we're home again and the washing machine is working overtime. Our visit north was blessed by the weather gods; lovel, sunny (albeit chilly) days and crisp, cool nights. It was glorious! My sister and her husband met up with a lobster fisherman on Saturday afternoon and brought back TEN(

I recently returned from a Road Trip that included a stop in northeastern Nebraska, then headed east across Iowa to southern Wisconsin, then south and AROUND Chicago to where my folks had their farm in Richton Park, Illinois, then I picked up a Girl Friend from High School in that area, and she came home with me as we drove west back across Iowa, returning to my home in western Nebraska for a very nice visit, then she returned by plane back to her home -- 2093 miles on my Odometer - I always did LOVE to drive!  It is miraculous that ...
