A surprise from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

One of the things I love about using the courier system to send/receive packages is that you get a notification that something is coming or when something arrives.

I recently used some fabric from Riley Blake Designs for a magazine quilt. The fabric and the resulting quilt are so darn cute. That was one of the boxes that I received from them a while back. That quilt is already made and delivered. Then I got a notification that I was receiving another package from Riley Blake Designs? Oh, what's in here as I hadn't ordered anything more ...

Spring cleaning, new Etsy shop listings and a new quilt project from Carried Away Quilting

Although we still have snow in the yard and ice on the lake, I’m hopeful that warmer weather is just around the corner. There are some positive signs: the robins are singing and the sun is shining longer each evening. My hopefulness translated into some spring cleaning in my sewing room, which meant a restocking of my Etsy shop!

I’ve been holding onto some much-loved charm packs, jelly rolls, bolt-end fabric and other bundles. I decided to let go of some treasured merchandise and list it in my Etsy shop. I hope you’ll find that special something ...

Accidental Baby Quilt from Tea Rose Home

Have you seen the cute fabric line Gretel designed by my sweet friend Amy Smart for Riley Blake designs? I had a chance to work with them and I made a quilt top a few weeks ago. What? the quilt up above? NO. That isn't it. The picture below is the quilt top I made first. For some reasons, my dog always shows up from nowhere when I start taking pictures of my quilt and gets in the pictures. Sorry if you are not a doggy lover. ;) It is not quilted yet, but I love how it turned out ...

The Hedge Rose Double Pinwheel Quilt from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Hedge Rose Fabric, Riley Blake Designs
Cutting fabrics for my quilt

Hedge Rose Fabric

Have you seen these fabrics?!! I am totally obsessed. Its colors are lush and lovely! They include light teals, rich reds, corals, deep navy blues, jean blues and bright greens. The designer of this blooming line called Hedge Rose is Kelly Panacci done for Penny Rose Fabrics (a division of Riley Blake Designs). The collection has so much depth and texture. The main print, full of large roses, is definitely my favorite. Kelly totally pushes the limits with each print. She uses one of my favorite classic designs, a simple dot, but adds a textured grunge to ...

Show Your WIngs Blog Hop - American Style from Sew Incredibly Crazy

It is been awhile since I
was able to join a fun blog,
 seemed like the
perfect time to do so.

I have a few blocks lying
around that needed to make themselves
into a quilt.

My Uncle Sam nutcracker
has been wanting a home
since the last blog hop
I was able to participate in.

But he doesn't have wings.

I did decide a few months after him
to make an eagle applique.

He definitely fit the bill
of having wings
and this hop was about showing
off your wings.

So, I ...

Five DIY projects for your car from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Meow and Forever Fabric

Oh my goodness!! I just love this line. Its fishes just make me giggle. The cat whiskers and ears flood me with nostalgia because they make me think of a staple in my home growing up, muisjes (the American word would be sprinkles). Bread with butter and dark chocolate sprinkles was a totally acceptable breakfast for my Dutch parents. And don’t get me started about those cat heads. My Mind’s Eye created all of these mischievous fabrics for Riley Blake Designs. That green and pink combo has been enchanting all of my sewing projects ...

Mary Elizabeth Butterfly Quilt from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

I am totally smitten over my newest quilt. Everything about it makes me smile. The fabrics I used in it are all designed by Christopher Thompson aka The Tattooed Quilter. This is his third line created for Riley Blake Designs called Mary Elizabeth. Its fresh spring feel has inspired some spring cleaning in my sewing room as well as this light and playful quilt. As soon as I saw the line at Market, I fell in love with the petals design because of its playfulness. When my package of fabric arrived, it was the main fabric that drew me in ...

Santa Snow Globe Wall Hanging – Christmas Project from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

News flash — We have less than two weeks until Christmas!!! AHHHHHH!! It’s the perfect time to show you what I have been working on. Ever since I made my Peppermint Way Table Runner, as I cut out the English paper piecing parts, I saw the hole of the ring as a snow globe. The peppermint ring had the perfect base for the globe, too. As I was working with the pinks and red fabrics from Jill Howarth and her Way Up North line for Riley Blake Designs, there was one Santa scene that kept speaking the word snow globe ...

Christmas Projects – Santa Doorknob Bells from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Guess what? It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… and Christmas decor is popping up everywhere. This weekend, while I was searching for some fun items to use in photos, I was totally sidetracked with a Michaels Christmas sale. A whopping 70% off all Christmas items, plus I had a 20% off my entire purchase. BAM. That’s how I roll! I love coupons. Wholeheartedly, I jumped into their marketing trap and came home with a few Christmas projects. I wanted to show you these shabby chic Doorknob Bells I got at Michaels. They are super cute the ...

Tis the season: Christmas quilts, runners and pillows! from Carried Away Quilting

We woke up to snow this morning! Granted it was just a dusting, and it has already melted. But let me tell you, those fluffy white flurries got me feeling all snuggled up inside. I was ready to pull out the holly and the ivy. It took every bit of restraint I had to leave the Christmas decorations in the storage room.

So instead, I thought I’d share some of my favorite holiday makes from the past couple of years. You can click on each project link for full details and more photos!
