UFO updates from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my --- I may have "wasted" some free time last week, and today will be a scramble to get all the stuff prepped for tomorrow morning!

Yesterday was super productive, but I can't share anything yet with you. It was a good day, though, and I learned a ton.

Let's chat about the UFO club. Despite the three-month hiatus since our last meeting, everyone stayed pretty productive, and lots and lots were accomplished. Few unhappy faces were handed out!

I want to share this photo of one of the attendees' quilts with you. It was made by Linda ...

The Countdown.. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, it was a long day, and not without a few glitches, which HAD to be solved. But the good news is that everything got done! I even used up all the extra samples I had made the day before. I wasn't sure I would use them, but I did!

Everything for Project Two is tagged, bagged, and labeled. It's all packed and ready to go to the airport early in the morning.

So, my original plan to take a carry-on didn't happen. As I set aside stuff to take, I wondered how many pairs of scissors ...

What are you buying? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You could go down a rabbit hole discussing operating systems. Between iOS, Android, and Windows, I suspect those three cover a considerable part of the market. What is surprising is who owns those companies! It's mind-boggling how large some of these companies are. Did you know that Google owns Android? They bought them in 2005! And they have purchased many other companies as well—we just don't know that because they keep the original name.

Oh, I remember a conversation about who owns Tim Hortons! Check it out—it's a tangled web. They are NOT 100% Canadian-owned ...

Prioritize - Focus - Win from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh gosh—I'm not even sure where to begin or how to say it. The NEW Studio B is a dream come true! If only I had known years ago what I know now! Would I still have tons of UFOs? I might, but I sure would have looked at my buying and making habits a whole lot differently.

I guess it's like trying to tell a teenager to do something differently based on your experience. They don't want to do it and must learn their way.

Please do NOT be jealous of me and where I ...

Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

I want to thank everyone for the grace you're giving me, while I'm in this season of change.  Work is going great - GO CHANNELLOCK - and I'm already starting to feel creative again.  It's amazing how you can take the girl out of the studio, but you can't take the studio out of the girl.  First thing, is executing my plan on giving my cubicle a make-over.  Then back to sewing!

When decluttering becomes an obsession from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The decluttering journey continues.

I grabbed that basket of paper and took it to the kitchen counter. I love that kitchen space for my decluttering journey. It's big, the height is perfect, and there's loads of room. My kitchen counters are ALWAYS clear. There are a few minor things that I may do away with eventually, but for the moment, I'm not worrying about them. Let's say that my kitchen counters were NOT always clear. I remember days when there were a few free spots on our kitchen table to eat. The rest was piled with ...

So right now my life is in a season of change.  I was laid off suddenly from a job I love because they outsourced the positions to the Philippines.  In all honesty, I was VERY ready for my next challenge but there were so many good benefits with the job, I hadn't made the move.  Until I was made to.  As always, God blessed me with finding the right job, right away.  Go figure that having good customer service skills would be very marketable in today's job climate.

I'm working now for Channellock, Inc.  They have been ...

Be careful what you teach! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I never received any training to be a teacher; it seems to come naturally to me, for which I am eternally grateful. I never planned on being a quilt teacher, but the opportunity fell into my lap (thank you, Gail, at the Hobby Horse for believing in me!), and I took to it like a duck to water!

I also try NOT to DICTATE RULES to my students. I try to create an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, and I explain why we do something a certain way. If they want to do it differently, that's OK ...

Questions and I WANT answers! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh, great scot!!! I had trouble sleeping, so I got up and did some work. Then when I finally went to sleep, I went into a deep sleep, and I'm WAY BEHIND this morning. Why is that?

There are many other mysteries in this world. Why can't I log into my mySewnet account on my laptop, yet I can log into the account on my other computer and all of my devices? Yep—the world is a mystery, to be sure.

So here are a few hurried photos, as I have UFO club at 9:15, and I ...

Learning to Fail on Off the Wall Friday from Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre

So last week, I was talking to a friend of mine and she said, "Ohhhh I don't have a creative bone in my body."  If I only I had a dime for every time I heard that.  I do believe people are born with strengths and weaknesses and there is no reason that you need to be strong in everything.  HOWEVER...I believe that everyone can enjoy the joy of "making" no matter what their talents.  I mean think about it.  How many kids don't like to color and draw?  Hardly any.  It's only when they hit ...

The lost list gets longer from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am even more annoyed with myself this morning. Well, I'm no longer irritated, but yesterday? I was very annoyed. I was putting together the presser feet I was going to demo in my presentation, and do you think I can find my Open-Toe feet for the PFAFF? They are not to be seen. Then I realized that I was also missing my Quilt Binder. I have two of them, and they are in big purple boxes.

I'm VERY diligent about keeping all my presser feet in a specific location by brand. I'm anal about it. But ...

On the POSITIVE side from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I am ANNOYED!!! And I'm annoyed at myself!

I'm trying to get organized for the events over the next couple of weeks. The first one is tonight. So I'm organizing the samples, and I'm missing ONE. Actually, I'm missing a couple of samples. Now, thankfully, both of them are small and would take very little time to redo. It's the principle of the matter. I had one in my hand last week, and I swear I left it on the table.

I've been searching for it, and nothing!! Thankfully, I had it in ...

EXCITEMENT abounds!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Tammy hit the jackpot!!! She got both quilts right!!!

Here are the two quilts that I'm contemplating teaching in the fall. Now, I'll only teach one or the other, but not both - at least not simultaneously. I'm crazy, but not that crazy.

I have a few votes for one and some for the other - if you have comments, you can email me or comment on the blog. elainetheriault@gmail.com

Look who I spotted on the morning walk. Yep, after all that rain the night before, there were worms and a snail on the sidewalk! It seems ...
