Very nice, with space to be quilted with a motif based on some of the blocks in the project file.

I like the second design, which has a little less space for quilting, but I like the small applique designs on some of the blocks.

Red and White Applique 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Choose any two colours and these designs would look great, but I think red and white might be the most stunning combination.

I cannot choose a favourite today … I like them both!

Black on Gold 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

Take a plain sheet, use it as the top layer of a quilt sandwich, pick a contrast thread and start quilting. The blank areas in the designs in this project file I would fill with a background filler such as stippling.

I started this project file ages ago, but it went into hiding on my computer, but now it has been found I am playing with the block designs and adding more quilt designs.

I love the second design, but would add cross hatch as the background filler in this design.

Virtual Wholecloth 10, 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

I like quilting to have feature shapes in a design, with boring fill in patterns to fill the background, similar to the way pieced and applique designs are usually separated by a contrast background fabric.

The background filler in the second deign I would do with a thread matching the background, while the more decorative shapes would be in a contrast colour.

The design above is the last in this project series which was started a long time ago, and one day I should make myself start a new, and better, project with the same theme.

A Class of Their Own 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

This project file started when I was teaching a small group some tricks to designing quilts in Electric Quilt quite a few years ago, using blocks from the EQ Library, but making changes to them to fit better into a design.

This colour collection sets a happy mood for me. Perhaps it is the combination of my Mums favourite colour, purple, Dad’s favourite colour green, and the gold of crops ready to reap so all the bills could be paid over the next year.

I love the first design!

The quilting as shown I would do in a contrast colour, but I would add some fillers in a colour to match the background.

The second design appeals to me too, but nowhere as much as the first.

Still dainty, but with heavier borders. This is the one I would make for our bed … if we didn’t already have three queen size quilts.

A Spoonful of Sugar 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

The designs in this project file are very feminine ,and very pretty.

By the way, the spoon which inspired this series of designs is the spoon which is in my coffee jar, the one I use to add sugar to my coffee every morning.

Anna Karena 33, 34 from Virtual Quilter

Blue is not my favourite colour, but it looks OK with some pink and purple in this project file.

I do love having empty spaces to show off some quilting, and I prefer to not use feathers. I like feathers, but prefer to see formal designs with either bubbles, squiggles, straight lines or cross hatch filling in the background around both the formal quilting designs and the applique.

One thing I do not like is to see all over quilting which has no real relationship to the pieced or applique on the quilt top.

Aussie Banksia Carol 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Another variety of banksia, and some quilting motifs in coloured thread based on the applique designs.

I am enjoying playing with the scale of the flowers in these designs.
