Sea Link Starr 10 from Virtual Quilter

One block, one quilting motif following the seam lines of the pieced blocks, even where they are not required for the fabric placement.

WOW!

Something Fishy: Colour & Inspiration Tuesday from Clever Chameleon

Something Fishy colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

Does something smell fishy in your inbox?

Fish balloon

At the risk of sounding obsessed with all things aquatic, yes, we are still on the theme of quilted ponds and fishes and such things here. Partly out of coincidence though….. I have been drawing up the next few patterns for the Love with a Twist quilt along and one of May’s blocks just happens to be the fish balloon. So I still have fish on the brain. But I promise we will surface from our underwater explorations very soon. I think a sweet balloon bunny with his mummy appliqué would be ...

Fig Jam 31, 32 from Virtual Quilter

It is that time of the year when the figs are ripe for picking, and becoming jam.

I made a small batch over a week ago, a bigger batch yesterday (with ginger this time), and there will be enough for a third batch with almonds to be picked today and cooked tomorrow.

I really do not want to make a quilt from these designs, but maybe I could print them to make a garland to hang across the kitchen window … or the door … or placemats. At least the garland would be seen, as we don’t use placemats.

My Happy Place Row Along Show and Tell Day from Clever Chameleon

Panda Friends colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

Welcome to the My Happy Place Show and Tell Colour Inspiration Tuesday Day!

Today is the last day of the “My Happy Place” row-along and blog hop – the Show and Tell Day. This is the day where a few of the “My Happy Place” blog hoppers come back for an encore….. to show you how they finished their rows (or multiple rows) into usable quilted items.

Being Myself with You appliqué by Clever ChameleonI have finished my “Being Myself with You” row into a wall hanging with a small extra border and some free-motion embroidery. The My Happy Place embroidery template is included in today’s post ...

Fig Jam 28 from Virtual Quilter

Fig Jam 28

I am about to open a jar of fig jam to have on my toast for breakfast.

Love the real jam, and the virtual quilt design!

Not many fruits have such interesting leaves as the fig tree.

Dragonfly Dance – Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Link Party from Clever Chameleon

Dragonfly Dance color scheme by Clever Chameleon

Oh Happy Day (oh happy day….), Oh Happy Day (oh happy day)…..

……when my ScanNCut (when my ScanNCut)….. cut my work away…. oh happy day….!

So, you know I have a new toy, right?…. the ScanNCut CM900 I purchased a few weeks ago. Of course you know…. the blasted thing keeps popping up in my blog. Well, I waaaaas going to stop going on about it after the snow globe project. But…..

I was in the shower the other morning, musing over the technicalities of my current quilt, as I so often do, and a light bulb went on.  Not ...

Cheerful Orange: Colour Inspiration Tuesday and Linky Party from Clever Chameleon

Cheerful Orange color scheme by Clever Chameleon

Welcome to the little Tuesday wedged in between my Sew Early 4 Christmas tutorial yesterday and our next Beary Colourful Bear pattern tomorrow!

Poor Tuesday! He had his big turn last week, with the Christmas in July blog hop…… but just because he is not the star of the Clever Chameleon blog this week doesn’t mean he can’t be inspiring.

He most certainly can!

Today’s blindingly bright colours are inspired by a little charity quilt that has just passed through my sewing room, cheering the place up as it went. I don’t know if I’d ...

Black and Gold Quilts 2 from Virtual Quilter

Black and Gold Quilts 2

I love it!

Uses just one quilting motif, with a few small modifications.

I said yesterday I had converted all my project files to EQ8 … I lied.

I found enough to fill in most of the next two weeks, not including all the Log Cabin ones yet to make the conversion!

Second Place Stitching from Quilting Solutions

I am in a place where stitching comes second.

Summer is here:  lots of yardwork after the plumbers tore up the yard to hook us into the city sewer.

DH recovering from major surgery:  double duty for yours truly.

24 hour stomach upset:  just me, thank goodness; 48 hour recovery.

Ponderosa pine pollen:  all over the place, leaving us with headaches and sneezes.  It looks like yellow snow on the cars, furniture, kitchen counters, etc.  Lots of dusting to do every day.

Ponderosa pollen covers everything with yellow dust.
Clearly sewing takes second, third or fourth place in this scenario ...

Time Travel from Quilting Solutions

The weeks go so fast.  The quilt goes so slowly.  Spring seems to have come to the mountains.  We have wild pasque flowers all over our yard.  I have never seen so many.  They are small but so special...about the size of crocuses.

Pasque Flower
Another motif quilted.  This is such fun. I never get bored doing these intricate designs.  This isn't complete, but I couldn't sew today.  The feather will be repeated on the other three sides.  Those stitches really look bumpy in close up photo.  Do them over or not?  That is the question.

Motif ...

Colour Inspiration Tuesday: Strawberry Thief from Clever Chameleon

Strawberry Thief colour scheme by Clever Chameleon

Welcome to Vintage Colour Inspiration Tuesday – Looking backwards to inspire us forwards!

In not too many days it will be Easter (!) and then April (!!!!). So while I am still finishing up some experiments with my new-to-me March technique of turned appliqué, I am also starting to muse over next month’s Island Batik challenge. Which is to make a quilt larger than 36″ square, inspired in some way by a vintage quilt or quilt block.

surpriseI have looked in a few different places for a vintage quilt idea. So far I haven’t been inspired, but I have had fun ...

Colour Inspiration Tuesday Collection 5 from Clever Chameleon

Colour Inspiration Tuesday Collection 5

Colour Inspiration Tuesday Collection Number 5

It feels like a really long time since I have put out a Colour Inspiration Tuesday Collection. In fact, it is a long time in the life of a blog…. 12 weeks, with Christmas and New Year and two Beary Colourful Bear patterns and all sorts since then!

Since the last Colour Inspiration Tuesday Collection there have been a lot of people come on board with the Beary Colourful BOM and the Monthly Colour Challenge who may not have explored the dim dark past of the Chameleon. I am truly delighted to have you ...
