How to Repair a Damaged Quilt from Craft Gossip

A few years ago I was putting away a quilt and I snagged in on a wire hanger.  It ended up with a 2 inch slash in it and I was heartbroken.  Luckily I am a quilter so I was able to fix it.  Unfortunately, many people don’t have that knowledge.  The good news is that Darcy Quilts has a handy tutorial that goes over how to repair a damaged quilt.

There are a number of sections, so pretty much any issue with a quilt is covered.  There are instructions for fixing the following:

  • A frayed seam
  • A small ...

The finished quilt measure 60″ x 80″ and was originally designed to highlight the fabric line “Letters” from Art Gallery Fabrics.  One of the fabrics used is a panel.  However it can easily be made with other fabrics if these are not available, or if you prefer a different look.

The pattern uses 9 different fabrics, including a background one.  Not as much fabric is required for the various hearts.  While no skill level is given on this free pattern ...

Building Blocks: All About Precut Fabric from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

Precut fabric saves time and effort when creating quilting projects.

Precut fabric revolutionized the quilting world. The quilting skill was historically passed down through teaching – one would learn the intricate and mathematical approach of measuring and cutting fabric by hand from the generation that came before. Anyone who has pieced a quilt knows it’s difficult work! Before you could even consider your project or layout, all the fabrics must be cut from bolts or repurposed from used materials. The margin for error was extraordinary, a single miscalculation could jeopardize an entire quilting project.

Quilting is now easier and more ...

A Winter Wonderland: Snow Day Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Happy Friday!

Living in Florida, I never really experienced a whole Winter season! I’ve traveled up north before just to see the snow, and although I’ve experienced it a small number of times, seeing the snowfall for the first time is truly something magical. I automatically associate the winter season with things that I love most, hot chocolate, being with family, Christmas, and warm fuzzy sweaters. So, when I saw the Snow Day fabric collection by Mister Domestic, I was so thrilled to see so many prints that captured these special memories.

Now for the past couple of ...

Quilt Pattern – Autumn Winds by AGF Studio from Craft Gossip

Originally designed by Sharon Holland to showcase the Autumn Vibes fabric line by Maureen Cracknell for Art Gallery Fabrics, this quilt truly is reminiscent of its name Autumn Winds.

Made with half square triangles, flying geese and squares, the finished quilt measures 70″ x 70″.  Using the colors and fabrics shown in the pattern, the quilt has a southwestern feel to it.

One of the things I like best about a pattern like this one is that it uses a lot of different fabrics.  This one suggests 12 of them, so it is right up my alley.  I’ll let ...

15 Tips for Quilting with Denim from Craft Gossip

Quilting with denim is not the same as quilting with other fabrics. This list of 15 tips for quilting with denim will help guide you. Denim quilts are a great way to recycle those old blue jeans. Denim has become such a popular fabric to upcycle as it’s durable and we often throw our jeans away well before they are worn out. Denim jeans are also one of the hardest things to dispose of due to our tendencies to hold onto our favourite pair even though they may never fit again.
