Virtual Wholecloth Quilt 6, 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

I use a lot of background quilting on applique and pieced blocks to fill in spaces around the design, but I also often use plain background for some blocks, and those are quilted with the lines of applique designs.

The cross hatching in these designs is what I use as a filler around applique, but I have left out the applique and only quilted the lines of the applique designs.

This is what the back of an applique quilt would look like, and as I love looking at the backs of quilts why not forget the applique and pieced tops ...

Quentin’s Quilting 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

I love it … although it is a bit blue. I do like the quilting design as it is clean and simple, and would be suitable to use with most of our modern waddings which are much less likely to fall to pieces inside a quilt than the waddings used a fifty to hundred years ago.

White Quilting 12, 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting design.

I like the second one, but the applique border is too wide.

I like this one … always like wholecloth quilts, though i would choose a nicer background fabric.

I often use uninteresting, dull or plain boring fabrics when I want the design to be the feature, not the background, and this project file is one of those times when the design is way more important than the fabric in the background. What colour would you use in these designs?

Timing is everything! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What an awesome day!

It didn't exactly start out the way I would have liked. I'm merrily quilting away, and then I got a phone call. A phone call that I wasn't expecting to get. Remember all that physio and massage I had last year as a result of my car accident? I do have to say that it all worked as my neck is totally back to normal with a full range, so that part was excellent. However, the office that I was dealing with wasn't the swiftest with the paperwork.

There were two insurance ...

Help Me Name that Pantograph Quilting Design from AndiCrafts

I’ve been having so much fun lately designing new quilting designs! I love playing with different ideas and seeing what I can create. Usually I start by designing an overall or pantograph quilting design. (If you don’t know what that is, I talk about pantographs here.) Next I take one of the repeats and try […]
