Why I love and hate YouTube from QUilting By-You

I love internet research.  I really do.  There is so much stuff out there that is easily accessible!  Patterns everywhere!  Quilt designers self-publishing patterns that you can purchase right from their website!  It’s amazing and super convenient!

Then there is YouTube and I’m loving that as well.  Not sure how to do something?  Look it up on YouTube.  We have fixed our dishwasher that way as well as our camera.  So much information!  There are quilters on YouTube as well.  Tours of quilting studios, videos of shopping hauls,  and how-to’s for just about anything you can think ...

Where did we go and talking to your Longarmer. from QUilting By-You

Wow, things got busy!  So far, they still are!  Unfortunately that means that our dear little blog suffered in the mean time.  Hopefully we will be able to rectify that.

What have we been up to?  We have had more people wanting to take classes on  how to long-arm their quilts.  And when that happens it also means more people coming in to rent!  The best part?  That we get to see more fun quilts and color combinations coming through the shop plus we get to meet and know new quilters.  We have also ended up with more quilts coming ...

Why do we never find the time? from QUilting By-You

When it comes to crafting I will sometimes hear people commenting that they wish they could do that (although more often I hear, ask her she’s crafty).  From my friends that already know how to do lots of interesting things I sometimes hear (and I’m guilty of saying it myself) that I wish I had more time to (insert favorite craft here).

That has left me to wonder, why don’t we ever find the time?  Sure there are lots of memes about crafters abandoning their housework/dinner making/families in favor of quilting and sometimes that can ...

Always wishing there was more time. from QUilting By-You

Running a small business is no small feat even when that business centers around your favorite hobby.  What this means for us is that we don’t always have a chance to visit quilt shows or other quilt shops unless we are really lucky, close down, or are searching for something that we need for the project we are working on.

Recently, Char was able to join a local library for a bus trip to the Wisconsin Quilt Expo held in Madison.  This is a yearly show and attracts a lot vendors and quilters.  The show is hosted by Wisconsin ...

So little to do, so much time… from QUilting By-You

Strike that, reverse it.  (I have to admit that Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is one of my favorites).

There are some truly amazing quilting blogs out there.  As I was perusing, I was reminded of that one friend.  Maybe you have one of these friends too.  She is a fun person and has the darndest luck.  What I mean by that is she can walk into a thrift store or yard sale and find the most amazing things.  It is like she is a magnet.

What brought her to mind was a post I saw about antique quilts ...
