Purple Logs 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of another week, just after the middle of the year.

These designs have all light, all dark and half light, half dark blocks.

The next two have exactly the same blocks, but with a few of them turned around.

I like the one with the dark centre … but I might change my mind after a second coffee.

Just four all dark blocks in the last, and this is my favourite for today.

Curved Cornerstones 81, 82, 83, 84, 85 from Virtual Quilter

All  of todays designs are interesting.

I like both of the first two.

Love the third ….

… and the fourth.

The last one is the most interesting, and I  like it!

That is all for this week, but mid week, next week, there will be more Log Cabin quilt designs.

Cornerstones in Green and Gold 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting and impressive.

Another interesting design.

I love the way these designs have turned out with very basic alterations to the colour placement in the blocks.

The one above is my favourite for today.

I can see a lot of simple changes which could be made to the way these blocks have been placed.

More Log Cabin variations mid week, next week.

Logs in the Garden 6, 7, 8, 9,10 from Virtual Quilter

Love the colours in these designs.

Love all five of these designs.

The middle one is my favourite .

Love the simplicity of the next one.

I think this has to be my all round  favourite collection of all my posts, but that could change any time in the future.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Less Logs in the Cabin 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 from Virtual Quilter

All designs today are very similar, especially the first three … sort of.

There is a centre design, surrounded by all light blocks, then a border, more light blocks with one all dark block connected to the outer border , and a corner made up of three blocks.

Now it is time to change the centre and the rest of the layout!

A rather interesting change!

The last design still has a centre, light space, a dark border with just a small light space before the final dark.

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log Cabin variations ...

Inside the Logs 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

There are lots of possibilities using Log Cabin blocks as borders.

That is how I started this project file, but then I started playing with using some Log Cabin block variations as the background for applique.

The first design has Log Cabin blocks around the edges, and some very pale or washed out Log Cabin blocks with applique on solid blocks.

Then I asked myself a question … What if I use pieced blocks as background for the applique, sometimes, or all the time.

Then I thought that some inner borders to break up the light areas would be interesting.

The ...

Beetaloo Logs 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 from Virtual Quilter

What can you do with 64 identical Log Cabin blocks?

The second design is the same as the first, but with the blocks turned inside out.

The next two use the same blocks again, with them turned inside out for the second design.

I like this pair, but I like the first pair more.

You will have to wait until I open this project again to see what the last design looks like.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Logs at Lochiel 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of another week … in some ways it feels like a month since I posted Log Cabin designs, but maybe it was yesterday! It has been one of those weeks!

At least this week’s Log Cabin retreat has started with a very pretty design.

Still the same colours, as all the designs are in this collection, but not as interesting as the first.

Looks better with different blocks around the edge.

Another interesting design.

I like the last one.

Did you know that there are over 40 different ways of using the same fabrics in a basic Log Cabin ...

Log Cabin Mix 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 from Virtual Quilter

It may be the colours but these designs look a bit spooky!

However, they are all interesting designs.

The third one is one of my favourites . … love it!

The fourth one is the spookiest of these, but it could be interesting with some variety in the colours.

The last one is my other favourite.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

Logs in a Misty Garden 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

This is a way to use up a heap of dull fabrics … make a Log Cabin quilt, then add applique.

Make variations of the Log Cabin blocks for a very interesting background.

They can be any size or shape you like, or it may depend on how big the fabric stash is.

My real garden looks a bit like this at the moment … bare dirt with a few plants scattered around.

Unfortunately, some of those bare patches will soon be growing weeds. Thankfully, no weeds will grow on any patches of these designs.

That is all for today, but there ...

Log Heap 76, 77, 78, 79, 80 from Virtual Quilter

Colours are not real inspiring, but I got carried away playing with some basic Log Cabin blocks, some all dark, some all light, but the largest part of most, but not all designs, are the traditional half light and half dark.

I like the design above.

Interesting!

Also interesting!

The centre is different, but the rest is the same as the second design above.

If you see a Log Cabin quilt design you like, make the blocks, then try twisting them around a bit to see what happens.

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log ...

Multi Colour Cabin 41, 42 from Virtual Quilter

WOW!

Love the start of  today’s quilters mid week retreat .

The second one is alright too.

The next two are fairly similar …

… just a couple of minor changes.

The last one is very different!

More Log Cabin blocks next mid week.

Cornerstones in Green and Gold 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

Middle of the week, time to share some Log Cabin variations.

This week features  Log Cabin Cornerstone blocks, also known as Cornerstones.

I like the cross.

My favourite is number 4 for this week.

I also like the last one.

That is all for this week, but there will be more Log Cabin quilt designs mid week, next week.

Cabin Fever Isolation Area 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 from Virtual Quilter

Fairly old project, but with lots of designs in reserve.

I like the second one … best for to                day!

The third is interesting.

          So is the next one!

The last one needs some colour in those circles … perhaps some applique.

Logs on the Road 66, 6, 68, 69, 70 from Virtual Quilter

All light, all dark, and some half dark/half light.

Mix them up and see what happens.

I like the middle one!

The next one is interesting ….

… as they all are.

70s Log Cabin 51, 52, 53, 54, 55 from Virtual Quilter

This project file hasn’t been opened since the middle of 2018!

Made up from mostly traditional half light, half dark Log Cabin blocks, With a few all dark and/or all light added .

I see four log cabins at a cross road!

The colours are rather pretty, as I usually prefer more masculine colours for Log Cabin

There are a lot of designs in this file waiting for their turn to be added to the blog, so I will try to open it up a little more regularly in the future.

Purple Logs 16, 17, 8, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

Another week has flown by, so time to take a break and study some Log Cabin Quilt designs.

The first is OK, the second one is better.

Sixty half light, half dark Log Cabin blocks, four all ark logs in all but one of these designs.

My favourite for the day is the one with all traditional  light and dark blocks.

I wonder  how these would look in a mixed colour scheme … something to fill in time one day.

TNT Log Jam 126, 127, 128, 129, 130 from Virtual Quilter

Welcome to another mid week retreat from the madding world, exclusively for quilters.

I like the design above, but I have just added two variations to the collection waiting for their day in the blog. Not that I am running out of virtual designs to share as there are still about 20 left in this project file.

Another interesting design!

Another one I like, but I am going to try making a change to add another one to the file.

I wonder how many times I have saved the same design … I find the odd one occasionally, but there could ...

Logs Around the Yard 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting mix of pieces … could be even more interesting if there were more variety of colours.

The colours can also be rearranged several different ways within the blocks.

I like the second design.

A couple of slight modifications makes an interesting change. I like it too.

My favourite for today is number four!

That is all for today  … more Log Cabin variations next week, mid week.

I always find it interesting to see all the designs up close.

Logs on Point +  116, 117, 118, 119, 120 from Virtual Quilter

This is the last of this project file.

There are aa lot of designs I have saved into a new project, and will share them later.

Before then I am making some minor changes, not including fabric changes.

The main change is to replace the half blocks with solid fabric around the edge with a half square of fabric instead of pieced logs.

There are a lot of designs ready and waiting for the minor change … half of them were waiting to appear in the current file.
