Winter Village Block of the Month Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

Winter Village Block of the Month Quilt

A bear spends the winter months snuggled deep inside his cozy den. He snores away the chilly days with not a care in the world. I must admit, I do the same, but instead of sleep, I quilt! This year, I’ll be working on a charming new Block of the Month by Edyta Sitar.

Floral Quilts are Blooming! from Quilted Joy

Flowers are blooming here at Quilted Joy. Floral motifs are so popular with fabric designers, so it is not uncommon for us to see many beautiful quilts sporting a floral design. They can be as unique and elegant as there are unique and elegant blossoms in the world. Here are a handful of some of the flora that have crossed our threshold in recent months.

Back to blog-land just for a little bit… from IVORY SPRING

A Day In Life

Happy Summer, my dear Friends!  I hope you have been well!  One reverberating question that has been playing in my mind is where the time has gone!  It seemed like it was yesterday I picked Miss Baby from school on the last day of her school year back in May, and now we are way into the month of July!

I have really enjoyed having Miss Baby home this summer although she claims I work her harder than her teacher at school! Haha!  I think she is probably right, but I am certainly not keeping score ...

grad present from Making A Lather

Hooray! I followed these instructions for a fix for the blogger email problem and it worked.! cue the happy dance.

It is graduation season, and I have 3 open houses that I really want to attend. This quilt was for a cousin's daughter. It was a kit I purchased when visiting my daughter in Utah. It was called Mint Sorbet. I really like sewing quilt kits. All the leg work is done for you, and it is all contained in a little bag. It makes the mess on my cutting table look frivolous.

At the open house, these cupcakes ...

My Timeless Day: custom kits for Diamond Trail and Summer Breeze! from Carried Away Quilting

As a pattern designer, it is always a thrill to see my patterns sewn up by other quilters. It’s exciting to see one of my creations come to life with a different color palette, fabric style or theme. It’s also quite a thrill when quilt shop owners kit my patterns and offer a custom option to their customers.

One of my sponsor shops, My Timeless Day of Alcester, SD, has recently kitted two of my new patterns: Diamond Trail and Summer Breeze.  Shop owner Allison has a great eye for putting colors together, and I just love what ...

DAY IN LIFE

If I don’t see another clump of monkey grass for the rest of my life, it would be too soon!  I don’t mean any offense at all to those of you who love monkey grass.  We are in the process of redoing part of our front garden, and that involved having digging up and digging up and digging up existing monkey grass!  I thought it was just going to be an afternoon to get the front garden on the ...

Quilting brings the cheer when the weather is something to fear! from Carried Away Quilting

The calendar might say April 7, but in central Minnesota we are still experiencing winter. Mother Nature hit us with nine new inches of snow last weekend, and the weather man is predicting more snow this weekend. Ugh!  Quilt making and decorating with quilts is my refuge as I wait for sunshine, green grass, flowers and warm breezes.

Right now our guest bedroom is the most sunny room in the house. It literally gets the best afternoon light, but I've also added sunshine to the room with my quilts. Above the daybed I've hung my "Flower Tile" quilt ...

DAY IN LIFE!

Hello Friends!  I hope you have been well.  I just came through a sewing marathon where I have had to work through weekends the last few weeks.  The last I counted, I think I have at least 10 quilts already in queue for editorial features from this year’s sewing.  Yikes!  And this past weekend, I covered more than 100 miles just driving my precious cargo (aka Miss Baby) for her activities!  Nonetheless, I hope you had a fun National Quilting Day weekend, as well as St. Patrick’s Day!  Have you seen my Irish Reel Dance ...

Happy National Quilting Day! As promised, I've made up several custom kits with Carried Away Quilting patterns, all featuring the beautiful new collection by Fig Tree & Company, Ella & Ollie!

Please note that I am not a fabric store, and I only purchase a small supply of fabric annually for use in my pattern design. I appreciate your support and enthusiasm, but please remember that my blog sponsors (whose logos run along the left-hand side of my website) typically carry the same collections that I ...

yellow jax quilt from Making A Lather

I finished this quilt in time for nice weather outside to take pictures.

I used a soft peach for the back

And I had showed how I was missing 7 inches of binding. I found a yellow floral scrap that wasn't exactly the right fabric but it looks like it is on the quilt. I am so grateful to find anything even close.

I bought this quilt as a kit while visiting my daughter in Payson Utah. I started working on it while I was there, but it languished. I finished the top in 2016.  This will be a ...

A Plug for Kits from MMM Quilts

Travel usually means a probable lack of sewing. It can add stress to an already stressful packing time when one can't forecast exactly what one feels like sewing, or forecast all the tools to take to complete the job.  Enter kits. I'm a cautious proponent of them; I have to really really like a quilt to buy the kit. On this recent jet down to Florida for a few days, a kit gave me some much-needed fabric therapy. Florida gave me some colour-therapy too. What a combo.

So. I have three nephews and one niece. Two of the ...
