Charm Squared tutorial! Takes just 2 charm packs and background fabric! from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Charm Squared is one of our most popular patterns, but we are just now getting around to making a video on it. Quilters love it because you can make it with just two charm packs and some background yardage and it is super easy.

You just make a bunch of half square triangles, put them together and you’ve got this fun, quick quilt. And since you just need two 5-inch charm packs, this is a great way to use up some of the charm packs you have been collecting.

We also have made up several quilt kits using the ...

Learn how to make Herringbone, from my first book, “Simple Quilts for the Modern Home.”

Herringbone is one of my favorite quilts in the book because it is a very easy quilt pattern but it looks a lot more complicated than it actually is. The top is made almost entirely by strip piecing, so it also goes really fast.

In this video I show you how to cut corners out of your strips so you can piece them in an offset way to maximize the use of your fabric. We also talk about how to sew the offset strip sets ...

This is the last block that makes up the center star that forms a cross down the center of the quilt. Next month we will work on different sized blocks ...

We got the one you see here together in just over a week including the quilting. And no, I don’t just quilt all day. If I get a couple hours in a day, I ...

Ripples – Easy Half Square Triangle Pattern from Simple Quilts for the Modern Home from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Learn how to make Ripples, from my first book, “Simple Quilts for the Modern Home.”

Ripples is a great introduction to half square triangles. It is made entirely with two-at-a-time half square triangles. I love making triangles using this method because you sew on the bias while the two halves are still attached, so there is much less stretching and the triangles will turn out the exact right size.

In today’s video I walk you through the two-at-a-time triangle method, the importance of trimming and show you the double pinning method I used to make sure all of my ...

How to quilt an overall swirl using Full Line Stencil and the Pounce Pad from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

When you start free motion quilting, you are told to just do an all over meander, keep everything curvy and don’t overlap your lines. It sounds easy to someone who has been quilting for a while. But to a true beginner, that can be very intimidating.

In today’s tutorial I show you how to use stencils as a guide to learn and master the overall swirl. Once you have got the muscle memory down and have practiced moving throughout the quilt creating an even quilting texture, you can ditch the stencil and start getting creative.

Maple Leaf Log Cabin – Fat Quarter Friendly Fall Quilt Pattern and Tutorial from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

Maple Leaf Log Cabin is one of the first quilts I designed and published the pattern to. It was before I discovered modern quilting, so it is very traditional, but perfect for fall.

The quilt combines the maple leaf and log cabin blocks, then sets it in a barn raising setting to create beautiful contrast that keeps your eye moving around the quilt. I collected scraps for months for this quilt, using bright orange, maroon, purple and teals for the fall leaves and browns and greens for the log cabin strips. That way the leaves pop as they fall all ...
