To See Such Fun ~~ finished! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

And another finish! This little quilt is a 62 inch square of pink and yellow scraps to be given away this weekend.

The pattern is Amanda Jean Nyberg's from her book No Scrap Left Behind. (The link goes directly to the QAL.)  I made another quilt (here) during her June Quilt Along in 2017.

I made several changes with this quilt. Mostly I turned everything into  4½" blocks and then sewed those into strips. The center sections create large four-patch blocks, the cornerstones are made of broken dishes blocks and finally I made the 4½" strips in ...

Black (and White) Beauty from Liz Makes Crafts

I absolutely love black and white, and I've been looking to make a black and white quilt for a long time. The only problem is that black and white, while great to look at, feels a little boring for me to work with. I would miss the prints, the fun colors ... or so I thought until I set my eyes on Sedona.

Sedona is a pattern from the geniuses at Sew Kind of Wonderful, and it's a row-by-row pattern in black and white featuring 11 different blocks, about half of which involve curved piecing. I love the look ...

Mod Mountains Sew-Along from Liz Makes Crafts

At the beginning of this year I joined 2 sew-alongs. But I didn't blog about them because I had a feeling that I'd fall behind. And fall behind I did. I haven't even started one of them, and the second one ... I'm several months behind too.

So the last thing I need is yet another sew-along, right? Well, when Suzy Quilts started her Mod Mountains Sew-Along, I felt the urge to join in. Suzy has this magic of making everything look shiny, exciting, and fun, and I felt myself being pulled in. I tried to resist ...

Announcing the Broken Panes Quilt Along from Patterns by Jen

Who is ready for a new quilt along?

I ran a poll in my Facebook group, Quilt and Learn with Patterns By Jen, asking for the month they preferred for a quilt along. There were two that were almost tied, June and October. We're going to jump right into June, but I'm planning a quilt along in October as well, so if June doesn't work for you, follow along virtually and then stitch along in October!

For June's quilt along we are using the pattern Broken Panes.

Oh I love this quilt. It's soooo quick ...

May OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

Some months the finishes come early.
meet me at the dinerI changed some of the blocks, but the pattern is based on the Hand Pieced QAL hosted by Elm Street Quilts and Simple.Handmade.Everyday. The blocks finish at six inches. The quilt measures 26 inches square.
The fabrics made the quilt for me. I learned a lot making the top, even though I’m not a convert to hand piecing. I think I’ll stick with applique and embroidery instead. It’s good to try new things and add variety to life.
Later this month, I’ll link to Elm Street Quilts.

May 2019 Short List from Quilt Paint Create

Where do the months go?
Here we are putting together a new list for the new month. I always like months with holiday weekends because I have more time to sew.
I finished one project in April and made a lot of progress on another. It’s fun to add something new to the list.
The Short List includes something old (UFO), something new, a handwork project, and creative play/design. I started using this system in November 2014 to keep myself focused. I add and delete categories as my interests change.
Something Old – The 9 patch leader and ender ...

Sunday Stash April 28, 2019 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers this week.
I started quilting the QAL top yesterday. Once I got over the fact there would be a lot of stops and starts, the design came easier. Sometimes you have to get out of your own way.
I tried to get a picture of the quilting, but the white thread didn’t show up well on the light pink back.
I’d love to have this one done before the next report, but there’s a lot going on this week.

Liberty Mini QAL: Cinque Terre – Choosing Fabrics from Blossom Heart Quilts

The Liberty Mini QAL begins today! This month, I am co-hosting this quilt along with Ava & Neve, and we’re sewing up the Cinque Terre mini quilt pattern. Today, I want to have a little chat about things to consider when choosing prints for your quilts, and also the background and binding fabrics.

Choosing Cinque Terre Prints

Once you’ve grabbed your pattern (paper here or the PDF here), it’s time to start thinking about what Liberty fabrics you want to use. In my QAL announcement post, I shared a few palette ideas to get you started thinking about ...
