Retreating and More from From the Strawberry Patch...

I haven't retreated from blogging~ although it probably seems that way. I don't know how I get so busy with things that time slips away, but I do. The weekend before last I was lucky enough to spend some of that ever-elusive time retreating with a few friends, we commandeered the craft room at a local camp, set up our sewing machines and got to work. The first flimsy finish is this three block

Machine and Hand Stitching from The Cozy Quilter

Essex Linen seemed to be the fabric of the week in my sewing room over the last few days.  First, I finished the last two blocks of my Summerhill quilt and then added linen sashings and borders...the colour is called Pepper. I like the texture of the linen surrounding my blocks.  I am in the process of making a pieced border from more tiny pieces of Kona solids. I'm hoping to get the final two borders on this coming week.

Next, I made a pillow for an online Christmas bazaar.  I had the three trees made already--they had ...

Yesterday was my day to share on the Best of Moda Bake Shop Pillow Parade on Instagram, so today I thought I would share my finished pillow!

If you have the book, I made a pillow out of a single block featured in the quilt without additional sashing. I made the block using scraps left over from the original quilt and added in a solid green background fabric that coordinated with the prints in the collection.

I used some scrap batting and scrap white solid fabric to quilt the the block for the front of the pillow.

The Handmade Gifts of Christmas from The Cozy Quilter

Several friends and family members received homemade gifts this year.  This is my favourite part of Christmas--figuring out what to make and then getting to work in the sewing room to get it all done.  I would rather sew than spend time at the mall shopping for gifts.

I made this pillow for my brother. As long time readers know, our Dad passed away last year and I decided to make this pillow using his shirts.  The background fabric is Essex Linen in dark grey-my Dad often wore gray flannel pants so this seemed like the perfect background fabric.  My ...

Sneeze Challenge from The Cozy Quilter

The Oxford Quilt Guild issued a challenge at the September meeting...we were each to chose a Kleenex box and made a quilted item using either the colour scheme or the pictures on the box as our inspiration.  They called it the "Sneeze Challenge".  Today, all of the projects were revealed and we had to match the boxes with their respective projects.  There were 30 challenge projects completed and it was fun to figure out the inspiration for each quilt.

The flattened Kleenex boxes were on display above the quilts, but not necessarily near the quilt that they matched.

My ...

Friday has arrived in a rush this week, but it's here now and you know what that means - it's time for us to get our whoop whoop on!    So let's get started...

*&*&*&*&*&*&*

Surprisingly enough, even though it seems like it was a VERY short week, I managed to have a couple of finishes!  The first was this pretty baby quilt, actually a memory quilt...

The purple plaid was part of a well-loved childhood comforter and became part of this sweet little baby quilt.

If this looks familiar, it should - it's the same pattern as ...
