Yipes! Stripes! from ... Cat Patches

Holy Moly. I can get back to my life. The paper-pieced zebra quilt top is finished! Yahoo! And I even lived to tell about it. Even the people I live with lived to tell about it! Okay, but let's just back up. I'll keep you in suspense until the end. First, I was heading out for a walk with Sue, but I had just a little bit of time for slow-stitching. I'd finished my mystery project the day before, and so I was ready to start on the October heart for A Year of Hearts.

I'd ...

A Finished Flimsy on the Horizon from ... Cat Patches

Well, I loves me a good day of sewing, don't you? Yesterday I got started on the next barn for the Appalachian Memories quilt. I like these quilt blocks. This one is called "Hole in the Barn Door."

It was also my "pop of color" for the Photo-A-Day prompt. There was an error on the printed page I used to trace this design. It appeared the quilt block had been added as an after thought because there were lines for the board siding within the quilt block. Of course, I avoided tracing those onto the fabric, but I kind ...

One More Time Around from Cat Patches

It's going to be a good day...I can feel it in my quilting hands. There's just one more go-around in the outer border of Wind in the Whiskers, and then that puppy will be heading for the finish line. But before I get started on that...let's back up to the beginning of the day.

The latest Snow Globe block is off to a good start. Whenever I start anew on a block, I always have to first clean up all the leftover bits of floss from the last time I worked on it. That's ...

Gloom Arrives from ... Cat Patches

The Portland Gloom has set in.

We've had a lovely (and long) fall this year. Usually around Columbus Day we get a big wind storm that blows all the leaves off the trees. We weren't Portland residents when the big Columbus Day storm blew through in 1962, but that storm is the stuff of local legends. Our annual wind storm never materialized this year, and so we've been able to enjoy the leaves for longer than usual.

The photo-a-day prompt yesterday was "two colours," or "colors" as we Americans like to say. That had me out taking ...

OMG: A Flimsy from ... Cat Patches

There was plenty to do yesterday with Mike home from work, but there was also plenty of time for sewing. First on my list of priorities was to finish up the Bag Ladies flimsy, and...Ta-Da!

The old gals turned out okay. This is my OMG for October, and don't you think I'm feeling pret-ty smug at having it finished before the goal-setting linky has even closed.

Of course, I'll be linking up at the end of the month.

After that, we had wine shipments to pick up from two wineries. It was a dreary, rainy day ...

Scrappy and Happy from Cat Patches

Since I knew I was going to spend most of the day running around yesterday, I spent longer than usual on my morning embroidery. Besides...I was trying to finish an audio book, and so I listened until the end. Now I've nearly filled the first hoop for the last of the Heart & Home blocks.

This morning I'll finish the rest of it and then move my hoop to the next section. I can't wait to finish this because then I'll be ready to start something new. Isn't a new project the best thing ever ...

Rick Rack Paddy Whack from Cat Patches

Good day-after-Christmas-morning! Doesn't it give you a feeling of power when Christmas is again 365 days away? We had a nice day here in Tybee Island, Georgia. The weather has been pretty good while we've been here, but yesterday was the best day yet.

Backing up to Christmas Eve, it was a gloomy morning. I used the time to cut down my recipe for Bailey's Chocolate Chip Cheesecake into a "for two" size.

Ordinarily, this is made in a 9-inch spring form pan. I used these two 1-cup capacity pans. As it turns out, one of these ...
