Progress and Finishes! from The Modern Diary

Last week I had the worst stomach bug I can ever remember having.  Jeremy got it too, but Hannah and Kathy avoided it somehow.  I was feeling pretty good (for me) and the night before getting sick at 9 PM I said, I feel like I could go out and sew.  Strange I feel so good this time of night.  Two hours and fifteen minutes later I woke sick.  I have noticed this wow I feel good thing before getting sick several times in the past few years. It is like the new virus distracts the CFS/ME.  It does ...

Norm and Nanette visited the beautiful botanical gardens at Mt Coot-tha. Nanette was looking a bit pale when she left home. I think it was all the chocolate she has been eating. It’s spring in Brisbane and all the flowers are starting to bloom in the garden. So much colour and texture all around. Even...

For my12th Year of participation in the Hands To Help Challenge, I have made the String Bean Quilt (above), from a March 2022 Quilt Along by Pat Sloan. I used Crumb Block Centers and a variety of oranges and creams.  The backing (below) was made from 10" squares - my favorite method.

Sunflowers for Ukraine from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

Another angle of the Sunflower Cross Stitch Pattern on a bitty basket that can be done to honor the Ukraine

Bright blue and yellow sunflowers are symbols we have come to know and identify with the incredible spirit of the Ukrainian people. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, the need to hold up these symbols and recognize what is happening is stronger than ever.

If you’ve been keeping up with current events lately, like us, you’re probably wondering what you can do to help those in the Ukraine. Quilters and cross stitchers are innately generous and ready to serve. We join others in lending support and donating where we can help. And we know that donations are ...

Pat sloan UFO busting

*** UFO BUSTING ***

My word of the Year is to 'Be Intentional'

While mulling over our calendar for July, I decided that the focus will be on UFOs (UnFinished Objects).  One thing I need to really focus on is how many of these projects that are started do I want to finish.  And then I have to 'Intentionally' make that happen. July is the month!

I know a few of you do not have UFOs (what???) and I know a few of you would rather sew something new during the month. Luckily there are several sew along going on for July ...
