I Know, I Know... from From the Strawberry Patch...

In my last post, which was almost a month ago, I explained what was keeping me away from this blog. And today, here we go again! We've been in New England for three weeks spending time with family. It's all good. In the earlier days I would've queued up posts to periodically appear during an absence of this duration but I just didn't get that done ahead of time this go-round. You'll never find me

Family time is important! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, yesterday was quiet! I almost don't know what I should chat about! There was something that I thought about yesterday, and well, it totally escapes me as I sit here.

Let's say that after a day of visiting and all that messing around with travel stuff the previous day, I went to bed and had a LONG sleep. I'm really late getting up for me, and this makes me really late for you back home.

Yesterday was a totally relaxing day -- the opposite of the previous day. I spent the entire day with Mom and Dad ...

From Here To There And Back Again from From the Strawberry Patch...

We've taken another road trip, albeit a quick one. Augie continues to excel as a traveler, we never could have asked for a better car companion. Since last Sunday was both Father's Day and my mother's 90th birthday we drove up to New Hampshire to celebrate the joyous, double event with my parents. It was a beautiful day.  Mom and Dad live in what is known as the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, as

Memories from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm glad that some of the posts are bringing back memories for people. Working in those old warehouses in Regina! And yes -- it's flat in that area unless you live in the Qu'Appelle Valley -- that is NOT flat, and that's a big hill if you're on a bike! Ask me how I know!

I hope everyone had fun at the Virtual Retreat last night -- I didn't make it. Sorry -- I'll try to stop by sometime today.

And if you want to know who wore it best? The dog came out on top! Sorry ...

Quiet Time from From the Strawberry Patch...

So, this is a post about Quiet Time. As you can tell from this photo, there's lots of resting and quiet time going on here. This was taken at my parents' home in New Hampshire last week. It was Augie's first road trip and he did extremely well in the car; you would have thought that he was a seasoned road-tripper! He rested nicely on his back seat platform and did what he was supposed to do

It's March... from From the Strawberry Patch...

... and it's coming in like a lamb here today; what's the weather like where you are? Up at my Mom and Dad's in New Hampshire they're buried under snow with more forecast to fall on Saturday. My Dad loves it but my Mom has had enough already! Speaking of my parents, today is their 71st wedding anniversary! This picture was taken a while ago, but you can see how cute they are! Happy Anniversary,

From Here to There (and Back Again...) from From the Strawberry Patch...

No, we didn't travel by helicopter, but we have only just returned from a quick visit to New England with my Mom and Dad; this trip had been planned for months. It ended up being a different kind of visit this time, as my mother was in the hospital for the duration of our time there, she suffered a compression fracture a few days before our arrival. Due to a shortage of nurses, and hospital staff

What God Has Joined... from From the Strawberry Patch...

March 1, 1952; seventy years today! This is what love, commitment and honoring one's vows looks like."what therefore God has joined together, let not man separate." - Mark 10:9Amen! Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Getting old is NOT an option! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It sucks to get old! For anyone with an aging parent or spouse, you know that the highlight of their days is the next appointment with a medical specialist!

DH has three siblings, none of whom live remotely close to us, so the task of dealing with his MIL falls on him. He's been a wee bit busy these days, so I've had to help out. Yesterday, I had to take her to a specialist dentist to remove a broken tooth. That wee errand took almost FOUR hours!

If my experience was typical, and I suspect it was ...

Signature quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I smell a skunk! I think someone got hit this morning. Thankfully both girls are in the house as I'm not sure either of them would be smart enough to run!

So there's good news and bad news today. The good news is this.

An empty design wall

Yep - that's where the Long Time Gone quilt was. And I'm happy to report that it's all in one piece! Yahoo!!!! I'm pretty excited. No, actually, it's kind of anti-climatic. I'm just relieved that it's together. I have one more thing to do ...

Back To School... from From the Strawberry Patch...

... a long, long time ago. There were days, even in the not so distant past, when back to school meant physically going back on the day after Labor Day, that's the way it was when I was a kid. This is me, back in those days, my fourth grade school picture. We were lucky enough to be able to take a trip back to those places where I attended elementary school last week. We have been FaceTiming with

My Mother, British Humor, Thread Kits & More from Where Art & Life Meet

As I grow older I am more and more appreciative of my parents and all they did and, in my mother’s case, still does. So I begin this post with a photo of my parents, above. It’s one of my favorites. I think my mother was a little younger than I am now, when this… Continue reading My Mother, British Humor, Thread Kits & More

The Finer Points of Quiltmaking? from From the Strawberry Patch...

I made this quilt for my parents in 1988 to commemorate their joint retirements. They both worked for the town that I was born and raised in; my father for the highway department and my mother as a radio dispatcher for emergency calls at the communications department. I didn't know a whole lot about quilting back then; I had only completed one or two rudiemtary quilts but, undaunted by my
