To-Do is Done Plus from Melva Loves Scraps

Last week's list is complete and done!  I do love a productive week, though getting through it can sometimes be difficult with distractions all along the way.

✔Complete the quilting on the poppies table runner

This was FUN!  The matchstick quilting offers texture and I had fun using a variety of colors from my Aurifil thread collection.

Using more scraps from the improv poppies I made the binding and did big-stitches with orange embroidery floss to add to the modern look of the table runner.

Choose a quilt pattern for a giraffe quilt for the new grand-daughter that is ...

Naughty or Nice? from Melva Loves Scraps

I stumbled upon a list of Naughty or Nice for Quilters that made me laugh and I just had to share with you.

✦  You added more items to your UFO list than you completed

✦  You measured once and had to cut twice

✦  You bought too much and had to sneak packages inside

✦  You got busy sewing and forgot to make dinner

✦  You photocopied the pattern and cheated the designer out of her due

✦  You turned into the "Quilt Police"

✦  You bought the book/pattern you already owned because you have so many you forgot you already have it

✦  You ...

Ta-Dah! Tuesday from Melva Loves Scraps

I set forth my list of To Do's and they all became Ta-Dah's!  I love a productive week...

I'll be wrapping up the table topper with our business logo

I love the way it looks! And the win-win is that when Dave wants to do photos of the the guns he builds or restores there is no need for watermarking the photos.

He did tell me that it is too nice to be left on the table between shoots so it will be protected from grease and oil stains.

Just look at all that texture!  Though it ...

OCC Sewing & 500th Post Celebration/Give Away from Melva Loves Scraps

As I had planned last week I have been a busy little elf in the studio creating some special WOW gifts for our church's Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.

✔  I will be making items for the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes...  I have fabric pulled to make shorts for little boys and skirts for the girls.

As it turned out, I have had extra time... let me explain.

On Thursday we received a message stating that our son-in-law had reported for his mandatory bi-weekly covid test on Monday.  The results revealed a positive.  Ummm... we had just delivered the kiddos ...

Gone Quilting! & A No Guilt::Go Quilt Jamaican Jerk Chicken from Melva Loves Scraps

Last week FLEW by!  I didn't complete each of the items on last week's Tuesday To-Do list, but I did make progress.

Finish "Papa's T-shirts" baby quilt - I will be sandwiching and quilting tomorrow

❧ Apply fusible stabilizer to the t-shirts for the graduation gift and begin the layout of the quilt top.  I have a story about the stabilizer...

Oh, and I have a pattern test  Still testing, but I should have the top pieced by the end of today

If I have time... I would like to "harvest" the graphics of the third set of t-shirts ...

Broken World and Modern Broken Dish from Melva Loves Scraps

In the most recent published letter from Helmut Müller he implies that something big had happened either on August 21, 1946 or in recent days. Perhaps he was simply referring the atrocious conditions of Germany in general... buildings bombed and destroyed, living conditions were poor, not to mention the lack of food and work/income.

The men that have written all seem grateful for the jobs that they had.  Ernst Ruehr found work in a nursery, while his brother worked for a farmer in Bavaria and Alert Baldauf obtained a position with the American Military Government.

As I researched for ...

Tuesday To Do from Melva Loves Scraps

I am, by nature, a list maker... sometimes it is on paper, but most of the time it is only in my mind.

Dave is currently gone for a few days and for the last few days leading up to his departure, I have been formulating a list in my mind of things I want to do while he is gone.

It probably seems silly to you, but one of the top things... is to make overnight oatmeal.  You see, he is not a fan of oatmeal.  Oh, I slip oatmeal into our morning breakfast rotation about once every two ...
