Take a long breath from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Good morning! Oh boy  -- it's been a super busy morning and well, OK - so I got up early. But that's simply because I went to bed early. I did get my required hours of sleep. But as I lay in bed this morning contemplating what I have to do - well, there's ZERO time for laying around!

I have to say this mouth breathing versus nose breathing has me in a tizzy. I'm so conscious of it now that I'm not sure I was ever a mouth breathing. WAIT -- that's a total lie. I think ...

How big is your vocabulary? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Bonjour!!!  I survived! The French presentation was far from perfect, but I did it! Oh my gosh -- I remember when I could slip between French and English with no thought, and I still can. It's just that there's a whole lot of new terms that are not in my vocabulary!

I have to laugh because I get an e-mail from Grammarly with my stats for all my writing.

According to them, I use a lot more unique words than 97% of other Grammarly users. Hmm  -- I don't know about that. I really don't. But it makes ...

Baby Steps from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The walk with the girls was a little different yesterday. It was the first day of school, and there were lots of extra people around! ACK! Although I think there must still be loads of people keeping their kids at home, or they staggered the start times yesterday. The amount of traffic was not nearly as crazy as a normal first day of school. While I did see loads of people walking their kids, there were still many cars!!  I haven't spotted the speed cameras yet.

I guess we'll be making 'new" friends as we start to see ...

How much is too much? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm happy to say that I'm making great progress. Not as much as I would like, but I'm OK. The binding is on the magazine quilt - well, just one side. I have to do the topstitching this morning and add a sleeve, and then it can go. Yeah!!!

And it would have been done, except I had to do this instead.

Remember the other day that I said I was prepping more fabric for Diane? Well, I found a panel with a partial border on it. I decided to finish off the border and get it ready ...

Panel palooza from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another great day with the Monday sewing group! I'm learning to get so much done. At the beginning of these Zoom sewing days, I will confess that I spent a lot of time chatting. Well, now I'm able to sew a lot more, and I accomplished a LOT towards the magazine quilt that needs to be in the mail by Thursday. There wasn't too much of a rush to finish it since I didn't even have the border print or the backing yet.

I got a notification yesterday that it should arrive today. I wasn't ...

Birthdays are the best! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- It's my BIRTHDAY today! It's not a big birthday, but then every birthday should be considered a big birthday. With what happens to us each year, I sometimes think it's a miracle that we have lived one more year!

So much has happened between this time last year. More lock-downs, lots of walking, LOTS of snacks, lots of new friends, lots of sewing. Well, it's been a super year, and I thank all of you for helping make my year such fun.

I'm also one year older, so supposedly I'm that much smarter ...

I got so MUCH DONE!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- we had such a riot at the Virtual Retreat. As usual, they kept me up later than I normally do, and after sewing all day, I was exhausted. I had to FORCE myself to stay awake to finish up the last of my project. But so much fun and so much more interesting to sew with others than to sew alone. Thanks to everyone who stopped in to sew or just to say hi!!!

Over and over, I heard the same thing, "I got SO MUCH done!" And that was the same for me - just wait for it.

But ...

Everywhere a sign.............. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY GOSH  --- I LOVE the comments from yesterday's post about how the impact of having only one car! And I'm not alone in not wanting DH to drive my standard, so that makes me feel good! I guess we'll just have to put on a "wait and see" attitude for the moment and see how long before his car completely dies. Then it'll be decision time.

And if I were reasonable, we would attempt the trial with my car. I'm not sure how reasonable I can be. Maybe he'll learn to drive properly?

Pitch and purge! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Is it me, or are the mornings starting to get dark? It's quite overcast this morning which doesn't help, but when I came up from Studio B, I noticed it was considerably darker than it has been. That can only mean one thing - the days are getting shorter. Well, technically, the days aren't getting shorter - there will always be 24 hours in a day, but the amount of daylight each day is getting shorter.

So we need to take advantage of every second of it and do something outside! I haven't sat in the gazebo in ...

In the neighborhood! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's amazing how energized you are in the morning when you have a good night's sleep. If only we could bottle that. The previous night, I had a terrible time getting to sleep - last night, no issue. Now, why is that?

Well, it doesn't matter - you take the good with the bad and move on!

I like where we live. I like our neighborhood and our house, and even though the weather can be wild, I don't have to go to sleep with these thoughts on my mind.

This is a photo ...

Living like a monk is a good thing! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my -- there needs to be a handbook for new homeowners. Some people have bought homes with things that they really don't know much about, or it might be their first home and no clue. The item in question is the sprinkler system. I'm not an expert on the subject, but I do know that you shouldn't water your lawn every day, and it's best to water it really early in the morning or late at night. Why? Well, there's less evaporation if you water in the late evening or early morning, and the darn ...

Everywhere a sign! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh, dear!! I'm slipping! We had a great time at Monday sewing until we got to chatting about our show and tell. I always do a show and tell, just like we would if we were in person! So things were going great - we were enjoying the quilts and other projects, and I'm always last. I showed my double wedding ring quilt with the curved edges.

I mentioned that I had made the backing and the binding. Then Diane asked if I made bias binding. WHAT????  Oh my gosh -- I can't believe that I didn't make ...

In the neighborhood from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

One by one, the stuff that needed to get done is getting completed! All the quilts are trimmed and ready for pickup. The classes are done, although I still have to do the follow-up for them. I'll get to that this week and I have two small quilts to quilt later today or at least load one. The last major writing assignment is almost edited, and that will be done for a while as well. Phew -- and they thought it couldn't be done!

Yep -- I've got to start right into the class homework assignments for August. There ...

Play ball with ME from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The spin class went well! There were no issues with the knee, so that was good, and no swelling at the end, so that's even better. I'm going to have to move indoors for the walking as it would appear all that concrete isn't doing my knee any favors!

A good number of the regulars were in the class, and our favorite instructor - Joseph! A big round of applause ended the class - I think everyone was excited to be back. It was hard to get going, but I ended up doing 27 KM, where I would normally ...

A Snail's Pace from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yes -- I promised some homework pictures, and well - it's not going to happen this morning!

I had one of the most productive days that I've had in a long time. I was just like a snail - slow and steady. Or was that the turtle? The other day after the rain, I saw two snails trying to get into the house! At least they were climbing the front steps. I've never seen them on the steps before, and when I got home from my walk, one had crossed the step, and the other was gone. So those things ...

Retirement! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Nope - I'm not retiring. Besides, what would I do when I retire - sew more? I'd probably sew less! Nope - I'm not quite ready, but the day will come, but not yet.

Katheleen retired this week. There's been a countdown for the last couple of months, and now she can do whatever she wants every day!!! A couple of us went and had a mini celebration. It was great to visit in person.

A while back, Katheleen had mentioned that I still owed her a postcard from an exchange that took place YEARS ago. Yikes - that item ...

Revisiting stickiness and stashes from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my -- I just had a peek at my phone bill online. There's so much to see and do! I'm going to go back and have a better look later. It's always a good idea to check that bill regularly as the rate plans change. And while I'm more than 100% satisfied with my Samsung Galaxy S10, I will be able to look at a new phone at the end of August. Will I upgrade? Not sure - I'm going to check it out.

A note that we are no longer buying (or renting) cell phones ...

A sweat shop from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had the most AMAZING wrap-up session for Long Time Gone. I was truly impressed by the work of everyone! Color choices were a challenge, piecing tons of small pieces, not getting out to buy fabric, and a whole lot more. But the group came through with flying colors. I'll be sharing their wonderful projects later this week. And so many of the group got their tops together.

I'm so grateful to all of them for signing up for that crazy journey. I don't think I would have made the quilt without them. It was truly a ...

Divide and Conquer from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I need to use The Task Master more often. I got a lot done yesterday. YES - in the back of my head, I know what needs to be done, but that doesn't always mean that I focus on that. I'm easily distracted!

Knowing that I have a list that I can check off and keeping it open on the ironing board makes me focus on what I should be doing, not what I want to do!

So there are 13 items on the list this week - that might be a bit ambitious, but some of them are not ...

Get a hair cut! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

From time to time (OK - every day), I check the stats on this blog. I'm not sure that I even understand how to read them, but I LOVE how the numbers change depending on the topic. The ketchup story? Lots of readers - so can you tell me who is searching the internet for ketchup? Appears that lots of people are.

I'm happy (OK - thrilled) to report that today is Friday! What does that mean? Well, it's Step One of reopening in our province, and that means non-essential stores are open (if they choose to be), and so ...
