Winter wonderland from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

What a fantastic Virtual Retreat!! I think I accomplished the most I've ever done, and I'm thrilled. We had people from the US, Germany, and across Canada. Loads of fun, and I'm so pleased to say that I've made new friends, and we get to check up on how people are doing in other parts of the world. It's way better than listening to the news! Thanks to everyone who attended.

I also dug out my Brother Label Maker and two rolls of tape. As the girls said -- why "save" that tape for a better ...

Found it! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I did it -- I survived the crazy month of November. OK -- so I know that November isn't over yet, and I still have things to do, but the worst of the month is over, and I can sort of coast along now! It was loads of work, but I learned a ton of stuff, and always great to stay in touch with everyone via Zoom.

I said goodbye to three different groups this past week, and after being with them for four or six weeks, you feel connected to them! Thanks to everyone who attended the classes, and I ...

Nothing beats learning by doing! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Where is the week going? It's now Thursday, and there are two days left of the sewing marathon. Well, not exactly, because Saturday and Sunday are jam-packed as well, but it's not the same. Those are FUN days where I get to sew and embroider and NO MORE PREP.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends! Don't eat too much turkey!

The spin class was crazy -- it's starting to get busy, and I was surrounded by people on all sides. That hasn't happened in a while. But no worries -- we just get in there and turn ...

Caught red-handed! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The week is progressing quite nicely. I had two presentations yesterday, and both were almost ready, so they took no time to finish up. Just that switch-a-roo with the sewing machines and the language of the software.

But all was good. I'm in CONTROL!!

I prepped as much as I could for the three reveal presentations this weekend. I did a wee bit of writing and paperwork, although more needs to be done this morning. And I NEED to get to the long arm.

I'm also a slacker, and well, I couldn't help myself. I could watch ...

Around the neighborhood from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Phew -- -that was a crazy week last week, and the weekend wasn't much better. However, the good news is that all the writing assignments are done. OK -- that's not exactly true, there are still four to write, but they can wait a wee bit. All the homework from the weekend classes has been sent, and that's an awesome way to start the week.

Yep -- it's another week heavy on the presentations, and five (well, technically four, since one presentation is given twice) requires some prep work, but three of them won't require much time. So ...

Time for myself from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I AM going to make it through these two brutal weeks. Hey -- this week is almost done! I did three presentations yesterday - two of them in French and one on the sergers. I had a customer ask a question last night in French, and for the life of me, I couldn't understand what she was asking. So she asked in English, and I still couldn't understand. But eventually, when she switched back to French, I got it. I didn't know the answer. I'm not sure why someone would want to do what she asked, but I ...

It's all about the numbers from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I do not want to say that I'm motivated by numbers, but it's nice to check your progress to know that you're on track. Like the virtual challenges - we get to see our progress on the map and see the progress by the numbers.

Yesterday our group of four passed the 50% mark of our Virtual walk across Canada. I think that's pretty impressive as we are NOT runners, we are not athletes - we're just ordinary people. A HUGE thank you to Shelly, Helen Anne, and Nancy for walking along with me. Think about it ...

The Big Shirt from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK -- something is wrong! I have had no issues with my internet connection for a long time. I did two presentations yesterday, and there was no issue. But when I went to open up the computer last night to do the third one of the day, things just didn't work! I managed to get the call open, but not until I moved the laptop to the office and even then. I had to abandon the call! That's the FIRST time that's happened.

I'm not sure what the problem is. It still doesn't seem 100% right ...

Tobaggan Hill from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's one of those nights. I have no idea why I woke up when I did. I'm not tired, yet I'm not full of energy. So rather than lay in bed, I'm up and at the computer, which is ridiculous! Hopefully, I'll get a couple of hours of sleep before the girls want me to take them for a walk! I've canceled my reservation for the spin class this morning, which is disappointing, but I don't think I'll survive - I'll need to go back to bed shortly.

Lots happened yesterday, but ...

Fun Friday! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Not to bore you with my UPS package, but it's in the right state, so it should be delivered on Monday! Yippee!!!!

I can't wait until I have another package to send to see how to fix this commercial invoice problem! It doesn't matter, the package is arriving one business day late, and I can certainly live with that!

It makes me laugh because when I worked for a fabric company, which was concerned about the cost of shipping things but had zero issues with shipping overnight instead of 5 days. So what's the difference? Well ...

Can you tell me WHY? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The first order of the day was to try and clear that UPS package that was stuck. And to figure out why this keeps happening?

I called customer support, and immediately, the customer service rep pushed me through to International shipments, not like last time, where they tried to fix it, and we lost several days because of that. I wasn't going to let them get away with it this time, as I prepared to grill them if they were the right person! I knew better! I patiently waited on the phone and finally got in touch with someone ...

Cherrywood Challenge exhibit from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So if anyone tells you that things are not back to normal - they are lying! Where did all the people come from yesterday? Granted, it was a rainy Saturday afternoon, so people probably had nothing better to do. The shopping plaza parking lots were jammed. I had to zip out to get dog food. The store itself wasn't that busy, but then there were other stores in that plaza.

I went to the Costco parking lot to find a geocache. NOT a parking space to be found! I parked in the plaza beside Costco and got the cache. Then ...

Vitual Retreat from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was another successful Virtual Retreat! So many people stopped in to say hello. We had people from Germany, the US, Western Canada, and all over Ontario! So nice to see a few new faces join us and to see the regulars! I left at 9 PM both nights, and they were still sewing and chatting!

I didn't end up taking a nap yesterday, but I did take a long walk, and I slept like a log last night. I'm feeling good this morning, and all fired up to get to spin class.

Well, I don't have ...

Timber!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I had a bit of extra work last night to get ready for today. Should I stay up and do it or get up early? I was in fine form last night, so I decided to go ahead and get it all done. Then I couldn't sleep. I hate when that happens. And then, despite the lack of sleep, I had a dream that I remembered. Good grief - the brain works in mysterious ways.

Well, no worries. I'll just have a nap once all the classes are done today. But that won't be until 3:30! It ...

One Block Wonder with a panel from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm under control! Or should I say - I'm in control? Either way, I have most of the prep done for the classes this weekend. I believe all or most of the sewing is done - it's just a question of putting the pictures into the various presentations and trying to get the written homework done so it can be sent out in a timely fashion. I must say that it feels good to be in control, but there's still a lot of work to do to get all that information organized and in the correct presentation!

As ...

The chopping block from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Over the years, I've heard of several people who have created Stitch-Out books for their sewing machines. It's a great idea that allows you to see all the stitches that you have available to play with. It would be great to have the original stitch and perhaps the settings at the maximum and minimum. You can check out the SewingMastery video on what she did for a stitch-out book.

Has anyone done such a book? And if so, what format did you use? I like the idea of the stitches in the business card pages that she shows ...

The weight creep from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, I seem to have accomplished a lot yesterday, yet I have nothing to share with you. That's not entirely true, as I have one thing to share. I'm participating in the Barn Quilt project with Thimbles and Things, and once a month, we have to make a block.

Yes -- the class is this Friday, and I always seem to be right at the last minute to get the block done, and this month was a super simple block. I took some time yesterday to make the block, and the task for the extra points is also done ...

Silence is golden from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I was lying in bed this morning listening. To what? NOTHING. Other than the pond gurgling in the backyard, there was NOTHING. No birds, no traffic, no insects - absolutely NOTHING. It's incredible when you consider that we live in a huge city, and other than noise generated by my own backyard, there wasn't a thing to be heard.

That was a completely different story from the night before. Police sirens were blaring for a considerable length of time - no idea where they were going. Fireworks -- since when did Thanksgiving become a fireworks holiday? And what boggles my mind ...

It's all about waste management from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As much as I get done in a day, it never seems to be enough! There's always someone sending me a message - when can I expect my project? Yikes! I was hoping to get a quilt quilted today, but there's too much paperwork to take care of, so I can only hope to get the quilt loaded and then quilt it tomorrow.

Some parts of my day are better organized than others. I think I now have the gym (two spin classes a week) and the daily walking (3 hours) set as a priority. As busy as I ...

Machine Embroidery Club from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I haven't been reading much lately. My brain just goes into overload mode, and I really don't want to be distracted. And I have to say that having my thoughts entirely to myself is a good thing. I think a lot, I problem solve and just reflect on who I am and what I'm doing! Something I hope to do a whole lot more next year.

However, this morning, when I was loading a customer quilt, I listened to an audiobook. WOW -- The Midnight Library by Matt Haig finally came in! What a great concept, and honestly ...
