Amanda’s Fidget Quilt

Making a child-like activity quilt for my 85-year-old mother, Amanda, was wonderful and emotionally difficult at the same time. Amanda, is a retired nurse, mother of five, grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of four.

She has vascular dementia.

Cookie, my sister and Amanda’s full-time caregiver, requested I make our mother a fidget quilt to help ease dementia anxiety.

So, I began with Island Batik’s Crystal Ball 10-inch pre-cut  fabric stack. I’m thankful for the generosity of Island Batik, which provided the fabric as part of the Island Batik Ambassador program.

What Is It? A Finish! from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

Anyone know the name of this applique pattern?
Some time ago, while going through yet more boxes of stuff from my mom's sewing room, I ran across a couple of odd blocks that obviously were her UFOs. This was one of them. I first tossed them into the trash, because really, doesn't it scream ugly 80s? Anyone sill have a blue fabric goose sitting around?

No matter your taste, this will not fit the decor. Sorry.
