Custom kits featuring Christmas Figs by Fig Tree & Company from Carried Away Quilting

It’s the middle of summer in my neck of the woods, which of course means days filled with sunshine, warm temperatures and outdoor activities.  It also means that it’s time for many quilters to begin working on . . . Christmas quilts!

I know, I know . . . you may not be ready to think about winter and the holiday season, but the truth is, now is the time to get started! My Timeless Day: custom kits for Diamond Trail and Summer Breeze! from Carried Away Quilting

As a pattern designer, it is always a thrill to see my patterns sewn up by other quilters. It’s exciting to see one of my creations come to life with a different color palette, fabric style or theme. New pattern: Summer Breeze, a mini charm pack quilt from Carried Away Quilting

My third new quilt pattern this year is called Summer Breeze. Colorful pinwheels spin like whirligigs in a warm breeze. Grab your favorite mini charm pack and some coordinating fabrics to create this cheerful scene, all wrapped up by a dancing ribbon.

Summer Breeze finishes at 26 1/2" square, making it the perfect size for a seasonal wall hanging or kitchen table topper. In my sample I used a mini charm pack of "Aria" by Kate Spain for Moda. I love the saturated colors that Kate uses in her collections.

The ribbon effect is achieved by selecting two greens ...
