Listless from Cat Patches

As I mentioned yesterday, I was feeling rather punk after getting two vaccines the day before. Since I still haven't gotten my COVID booster, I'm expecting another day like that in a couple of weeks. Tylenol helped, but only a little. Since I was feeling "listless," I thought I'd "list" what I did yesterday and what I plan to do today.

As for yesterday:

1. Woke up

2. Ate breakfast (buttered toast and orange juice)

3. Took a nap

4. Did some slow-stitching

5. Took a nap

6. Worked on my quilting

7. Took a nap

8 ...

Approaching Normal from Cat Patches

It's been a busy couple of days since we arrived home. Since I last wrote, I've washed 12 loads of laundry, transformed 20 lbs. of apples into applesauce and apple pie filling, and finished the last blocks for the Stitchin' Wisdom quilt. Of course, I couldn't have done any of this without the hard work of my feline friends. We're all exhausted. Smitty is happy to be back to napping in his kitty tree next to the living room window.

Sadie prefers the  privacy of her little house on the catio.

Pasco, Washington from ... Cat Patches

We're just about five hours from home this morning. It will be good to be off the road. Yesterday's drive was rather dull with mile after mile of freeway, road construction, and tree-lined roads. We didn't even see very many barns. I was able to capture a few trees with their red leaves.

Here are some more. For the most part, the roads were lined on both sides with evergreens.

We crossed over the Clark Fork River at least a dozen times or more. It's clearly a winding river. I liked the places where the railroad ...

Missoula, Montana from Cat Patches

It was another long day of driving yesterday. We're nearly all the way across the state of Montana now. Happily, we've given ourselves a day of rest before embarking on the last two days of our journey toward home.

Of course, we couldn't leave yesterday morning until Smitty had finished yet another photo shoot for the upcoming issue of Cosmeowpolitan magazine. When you're the sexiest cat alive, the pawpawrazzi won't give you a minute's peace. Here, he was doing his final "cheesecake" shot.

While he was busy with the photographers, I finished another section ...

Homeward Bound from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It was a blustery day yesterday. Fortunately, the wind has died down. Mike was not enjoying the prospect of driving in such windy weather for the first leg of our journey home. We're still sitting in Spearfish, South Dakota, as I'm writing this, but we'll be on our way soon.

Yesterday's activities felt like a prequel to coming home. There was no sight-seeing, and we all engaged in the same things we might have done if we were enjoying a relaxing day in our stationary home. The kitties were relaxing on their ...

Spearfish, South Dakota from Cat Patches

Welcome to South Dakota! We've reached our final planned sight-seeing destination. From here, we'll be high-tailing it toward home...not for a couple of days, though. There's still a little bit of work to do before we can wrap up our "Great Lakes 2022" trip. (That's the label I gave it in my photo folder.)

We spent a leisurely morning before leaving Chadron State Park. Smitty got out for a final walk and one last snack of Negrasska.

When he was safely back inside, Mike and I went out for a walk. It had clouded over ...

Fort Robinson State Park from Cat Patches

We had a leisurely morning yesterday. Although we'd planned to visit two sites, Fort Robinson, and the Toadstool Geologic Park, we ended up bailing on the second one. After doing some reading, I realized it meant traveling a significant distance on a gravel road, and we weren't up for that. We've visited other sites that required traveling gravel roads, and after a certain distance, it becomes too punishing. It meant we had a little more time to relax in the morning. Sadie snuggled up in one of the quilts.

Smitty relaxed on his catio.

Chadron, Nebraska from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We've moved on to northwest Nebraska now, and we're camped in a nice site at Chadron State Park.

We were surprised to find ourselves in an ADA Accessible site when we arrived. Certainly I didn't intend to do that when I made the reservation back in May. It's a big wide concrete pad. Looking at it, it appears brand new...as if it has never been used! And that made me suspicious. So I checked the park's website, where there is a picture of the site. Sure enough...the picture on ...

North Platte, Nebraska from Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We beat feet out of Beatrice yesterday morning in order to make the 250-mile drive to North Platte, Nebraska. Our mission was to see the Bailey Yard, and it was to close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. No problem, we thought. We could wait and see it Sunday morning. Well, no, actually. It doesn't open until noon on Sundays, and we need to be on our way sooner than that. We had just one night here in North Platte. So, we left plenty early and drove safely.

Last of the Zoo Animals from Cat Patches

I still have some more zoo animals to show you, but this will be the last of them. We were as impressed by the physical structure of the zoo as we were by the animal exhibits. I'll add that we didn't walk past the larger African animals (think elephants, giraffes, and other hooved critters) until we were leaving the park. I didn't take any pictures of them. I was pictured out by that time, and the other stuff was more unfamiliar and interesting to these zoo-goers.

Let's just start with this Desert Dome. What a cool ...
