Rabbit Sewing Pattern Download

Begin sewing your Ms. Bunny doll today!

Life since October when Ms. Bunny and Mally the Maker launched has been a bit crazy. I knew I wanted to create PDF versions of both the pattern and of course get the book available on Amazon and all the places you can download books.

But then I had a new quilt along to write and that deadline was fast approaching so I had to set all of this on a shelf ...

Busy Day Packing Sewing Patterns and Books from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Today I officially launched the Mally the Maker book and the Ms. Bunny Sewing Pattern! It was a very busy day signing books and packing orders with Josh and James. Yep, James was out of school today for teacher conferences. I think the teachers like to schedule a day off after Halloween so they don’t have to deal with tired, sugar fueled kids!Mally the Maker and the Queen in the Quilt

Last night I was putting the finishing touches on the Ms. Bunny sewing pattern cover. This pattern took a lot more time than I expected, but I’m SO pleased and proud of the end result ...

Listen to a Chapter from Mally the Maker from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Hello My Quilting Friends! This week I'm trying on a new hat - audiobook narration. I've read Chapter 1 from Mally the Maker and the Queen in the Quilt so you can begin the journey with Mally into the magical world of Quilst.

Click Here to preorder your copy of Mally the Maker.

I had SO much fun reading this! I've loved reading out loud since I was a kid so narrating this book felt natural and fun.

I've been planning to record the audiobook within the next few months, but sharing this first chapter has finally ...

Preorder Mally the Maker from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Yes, it's finally time to share my new book Mally the Maker and the Queen in the Quilt! Click Here to check out the book.

This novel has been such an adventure to write! I've loved every step of the process from creating the magical world of Quilst (no, that's not misspelled) to inventing the evil witch who nearly destroyed it. I had so much fun incorporating hand sewing and traditional quilt blocks into the story and making small illustrations for each chapter.

My goal with writing this book was to create a fun story for quilters ...

Drawing Dresses and Dripping Paint from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Hello My Sketchy Friends! I'm continuing my doll making adventure by sewing dresses and undergarments for Ms. Bunny. Last week I stitched three versions of this doll and finally solidified the design. Now I am focusing on drawing and planning the two dresses described in the book Mally the Maker and the Queen and the Quilt.

This is tricky because I'm basing my design on the memory of my Ms. Bunny and the dark pink calico dress she wore. Click here to read that story.

It's tricky because after making a very similar shaped dress, I realized ...

Ms. Bunny is here! from The Free Motion Quilting Project

After two solid days of drawing, cutting, and stitching, I can now introduce Ms. Bunny!

Yes, it took 5 dolls and multiple tweeks of the pattern to reach the perfect sized body with proportional arms and legs and pretty ears. And I finally managed to stitch her legs on the right way on the last doll. Yay!

I'm still playing with the right amount of stuffing to stick into her arms and torso. Too little and she flops around like a fish. Too much and her arms stick out like she's tightrope walking.

All in all, I've ...

Draw, Stitch, Erase, Draw Again from The Free Motion Quilting Project

It's prototype time! Mally the Maker is nearly ready to preorder (crossing my fingers for September 12th) and I’ve I wanted to design dolls for book for months. But designing in 3D is really tough! I've put off working on this project because it seems like no matter how much time I throw at it, I never get anywhere.

But I think I will get somewhere with this if I just stick with it and keep playing with the design.

When I put the doll pattern away, I lost all my progress because I couldn't remember ...

Sketchy Saturday: Computer Drawing from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Hello my sketchy friends! Today I am drawing several designs, but not with pencil and paper. Instead I'm working on the computer with Adobe Illustrator to draw my sun quilt design.

I am so excited about this design and impatient to see it drawn out in a final form so I can begin planning the quilting design. I'll probably also use this computerized drawing to make a master pattern for this quilt so it's worth taking the time to draw it on the computer.

This took more time than I expected to get just right. Once I ...

Very Big Book Day from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Thank you so much for all your kind comments and emails yesterday! I was worried about how quilters would react when I archived my quilting groups on Facebook.

But it turns out I shouldn't have been worried at all. It seems the majority of people agree with our decision and feel that this platform has gotten out of control with divisive, angry, hurtful people. I feel immensely relieved and so very thankful for your support.

Starting next week I'm going to share new design videos on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today I'd set aside all week to finishing ...

Back from Vacation Podcast #61 from The Free Motion Quilting Project

James and I popped off to Charleston this past weekend for a short trip to visit family and hang out together. In this week's podcast I share about the trip and my major obsession: freeform crochet!

Click Here to find the show notes and podcast video.

I think I'm mostly loving freeform crochet because it's the perfect project to work on while I'm editing Mally the Maker. I've spread out over my couch with yarn, crochet hooks, and the printed book galley and as I crochet, I'm listening to the book being read to ...

First Round of Editing DONE! from The Free Motion Quilting Project

I'm sorry I've been missing the last two days. I dove head first into Mally the Maker on Friday and decided it was time to finish the first round of editing and I'm so happy to say it's DONE!

Seriously I've been doing lots and lots of fist pumps since 3 pm today because that was a LONG process. I finished writing the first draft of the book back in March and Josh took a week to edit the text.

And then I've been stuck in it ever since. Yes, I do use the ...

Messy Hair Kind of Day from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Thank you so much for your comments yesterday on the little show hoop quilt. The votes ended up split and Josh liked it off centered and I liked it the other way better.

Ultimately I realized it's still a useful piece for teaching and folded it up and put it back in my teaching suitcase. I might never use it, but I'm happier knowing it's there if I need it.

And on the plus side, I have a spare hoop to make another hoop quilt! Win win! I'm thinking something bright and sunny to have a ...

Whoa! I'm done??? from The Free Motion Quilting Project

Yes! I'm done with Mally the Maker: The Queen in the Quilt!

No, this isn't a stack of blank pages. I've just flipped the top page because it's still in need of a lot of editing.

This stack feels HUGE, but I know the finished book won't be this thick. This is formatted for a manuscript on 8.5 x 11 pages with double spacing between the lines so it's easy to edit.

I've been working on this novel since October. Every day I wake up an hour early and spend that time ...
