That was intense from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I've worked some long days in my time. There's a huge difference between sitting at a desk for long hours and sewing for long hours. I'll take sewing anytime over a desk job!

Of course, I'm leaving today for the weekend sewing events in Earlton and North Bay and of course, there's a quilt that has to be sent to a magazine. Those deadlines often fall like that! Note to self - get better organized!

Anyway, when I started yesterday morning early - I had 12 of 18 blocks of one sort made and I hadn't ...

Missing a Deadline from Kim Hanson Quilts

Something crazy happened to me a few weeks back. For the first time ever, I missed a deadline.

Heather McArthur, the editor and publisher of Quilter’s Connection magazine asked me to do a smallish project for the Winter issue of the magazine. She wanted a project featuring some machine embroidery. Naturally, I pounced on the opportunity! I really love working for industry magazines, but especially for Heather.

So, I went about my business as usual. I marked down what I believed to be the deadline on my work calendar and chipped away at my to-do-list. In September, one full ...

Suspense from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are times when I feel like I'm writing a suspense novel. Each day, there's a deadline. Will the quilt get finished on time? I leave you hanging until the next day to see what actually happened.

I'm going to make you wait a wee bit longer.

I had my trunk show at Brampton Sew n Serge in the morning from 10 - 12 and then back again for 7 - 9 PM. While it was a nice sized crowd in the evening, there was standing room only in the morning. It was packed!!  But I think everyone enjoyed ...

No rest for those who can't schedule properly! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was up early yesterday, had breakfast with my brother and SIL and then I hit the road. I needed to get to the airport to see if I could get on an earlier flight. It would appear that there is no such thing as standby anymore (on Air Canada), at least in the smaller airports. For a fee (of course), you can make a "same-day" change and you'll get a guaranteed seat (if available).

The flight actually left the airport 10 minutes early and we were off. Of course, we lost those 10 minutes when we arrived in ...

Well that's a surprise!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As you read this - well, it depends on when you read it, but I'm off on an adventure today. So I wrote this post last night.

Well, that's confusing. I guess that's why people don't really mention specific dates or days of the week in their blog posts.

It was a very productive day again today. Many steps as I went for another walk, this time to the library and to the bank. I think that's about 5,000 steps - something like that. It's not really that far. But now I'm at almost ...

Ready or not - I'm gone! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It's time to leave for the sewing retreat. These are just the best vacations and so many others would like to come, but even with four retreats in a year, I'm never without participants to fill them and there's always a waiting list. I would love to schedule another one (or two), but that wouldn't go over so well at home. So for the moment, four it is.

It was a busy day yesterday but still had time to head off to the movies with Lynn to see Oceans 8 and then to spend an hour ...

Multi tasking - good or bad? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. After I finished posting the blog yesterday, I hit the garage and soon my front step looked like this.

Donation stuff waiting to be picked up

When I removed all the stuff from the garage that was in the "donate" pile, I saw a few other things that have been hanging around. I packed those up and out they went as well. A couple of things from the basement and I was done for this round.

The more I think about my stuff, the more I realize how few things I ...

I'm the kiss of death!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was a very productive day. I'm working my way through the tasks that I have highlighted with little sticky notes around the edge of my computer monitor (so I won't forget them). I looked at the call for submission to a magazine and decided that it wasn't my thing so I tossed that one. Yeah!! The editing process is going great although I was slow to get started yesterday. Not slow to start, but the editing of one post took forever. Too picky?  Not sure - my brain probably wasn't working on all points yet.

And ...

The learning just never stops! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Did you see my TWO posts yesterday??  What do you think of the quilting industry shakeup? It's going to be totally crazy and I'd love to have been a fly on the wall during that meeting.  But things move forward and we'll just have to wait to see if any more news comes down the pipeline at Market next week.

Yesterday was another day of learning. ACK!!! I have to admit that self-training is the best way to learn. At least for me. I'm in the privacy of my own home, no one to roll their ...

Big and small from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not going to panic! Nope - just because I realized that I have a quilt due to a magazine on March 8 and I'm still piecing it - I'm not going to panic!

It's mostly together, it's small so finishing it shouldn't be a problem. But dang it - I knew it was due that date and somehow, it just slipped my mind. All this time working on other things when I should have had this ready for the long arm!  Let's not forget that there is another one due on March 15 so I ...

This is why we have a design wall (and why things go missing) from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was a fun day!   It was time for the classes (Quilter's Garden Patch and Kaleidoscope) to check in.  I think there's going to be some pretty amazing show n tell in November.  I can hardly wait for that!  I will attempt to post some of the pictures later this week.

Then machine quilting.  It's one of my favorite classes to teach. It's such a great feeling when you see the students have that AHA moment, especially with free motion quilting. They all think it's something unattainable, but then they see how easy it is ...

How to buy a winter coat in three easy steps! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

You know me - I HATE shopping for clothes. I'd almost prefer getting a root canal and I loathe the dentist. I think you get the idea here - clothes shopping and me - just not a happy scene. So one must find unique ways to go shopping.

I rarely look at my cell phone when I'm at work. Often times, it's stays in my purse or one of my tote bags or my back pocket. But there are times when I keep it on my desk. Just depends on the day. So if you send a text to my ...
